This place is food lover heaven. Recently went for a Saturday night dinner and a midweek lunch. Dinner was a delight. Precious had a tender beef plate and I had a marvelous octopus pasta dish. I asked for the olives on the side which was cheerfully accommodated. Glad I did because they were cured and I think would have overwhelmed the dish. Perfect without them. The focaccia bread is homemade and the star of the house IMHO as it is served on many sandwiches including the best curry chicken salad I've had. The owner proudly told us they roasted the entire chicken which is the reason it's not dried out. I agree and the yellow raisins and whole cashews make it my new favorite chicken salad. Had a lovely Cabernet Franc from Argentina which I recommend if available. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant. Everything I've tried has been first rate. I'm especially fond of the honey peach salad and the ham-wrapped scallops, but that's probably because those are the dishes I've tried most recently. The menu changes frequently. We came to the area for the first time and discovered this little jewel. We had driven for quite a while and were glad to have a light bite (though heavier was available). I had the sweet red pepper gazpacho and an amazing beet salad. My husband had cream of summer vegetable soup and a salad. We were very pleased with both. The wine list was fantastic. Menus change all the time! Which is great but also can be hit or miss. One thing they always have: oysters. Which we generally enjoy. Seating inside is very cute, but they also do call in orders for takeout. Oh, and if you like slightly sweet iced teas, their hibiscus tea is one of my favorites. read more

This is an adorable place with very tasty food! I guess you could even say it is hipster (in a positive way!) with chic dishes and decor. The menu is small but has a very nicely curated. They have a nice selection of wine and beer as well. I had the roasted garlic and tomato bisque soup and the Salanova Greens salad and both were delicious! I love this restaurant with one caveat..... portion sizes. There is no better place in the area for the quality and presentation of the food. Flavors are superb - some of my favorite ever! Creative and delicious. BUT the pricing is too high for the amount of food you are served. Today I got a plate with trout over succotash and was told the trout was a 4-5oz filet. It was not even 2 oz I'm sure - while every bite was wonderful, few as they were, I was not filled up. The serving bowl even looked sparse with more than 1/2 empty. More like an appetizer, which for $15 and listed as lunch plate I s not right. bread is extra. I spoke to our waitress about this and she said the filet was small, and while she didn't know the ounces she was told to say 4-5. Please rethink this part of the menu! I love your restaurant but want to feel I am getting quality and value for my money!!! read more

Never heard of this place before. Tried at the recommendation of a client of my wife. Great atmosphere. No trouble getting a table on a Friday night. We started with the Charcuterie board for $23. Very small portions (except the foie gras). Everything was good but we got only 3 tiny slices of bread (considering it was served with a decent portion of foie gras, honey comb, etc., it would have been nice to have something to eat it with. At these prices you can afford a few crackers or something). The tiny serving of bread was toasted but ours was completely burnt black - so I asked for more. Waiter (Matty?) looked offended. They bright three more pieces - this time basically not toasted at all (felt very passive aggressive). Wife had the pasta of the day. I was looking forward to steak frites I saw on their webpage ads but they no longer offer it. I went with the lamb. My entree was the best part of the meal. Wife also had a mocktail and it was good. When the bill came they added $2.00 for extra bread. Now...sorry to be the guy complaining about $2 on a $120 bill but you burnt the first one so dont try to charge me for asking it to be remade. I'm talking the whole table smelt like smoke it was burnt so bad. I don't know who looked at that and said - sure we'll serve it. Waiter acted like a bit of a jerk when I pointed it out. He said I ordered "extra" bread. Reminded him the first was burnt and he said that how it's supposed to be served as if he ignored the conversation when it was brought out. Too much talk about bread- I agree. Shouldn't have been an issue but he made it one. Not a friendly person. Overall it's a little pricey. $54 for scallops, $60 for a steak of the day, $40 for lamb. Clearly catering to the resort traffic I suppose but understandable considering the location. If I'm dropping $60 on an 8 oz steak it should be one I remember - and maybe it would have been - who knows. I'd considering going back because most of the meal was very good. I probably wouldn't order the charcuterie board again - just wasn't worth it and I'd definitely ask to be seated with a different server. He took a 4+ star meal and made it, at best, only an average experience. read more

Shared a slice of pecan pie and took home a delicious carrot cake muffin for breakfast the next day (yeah, so it was cake with homemade cream cheese frosting, but vacation calories and the fact it was in the shape of a muffin made it a suitable breakfast item!) This is the worst restaurant I have ever tried. We ordered 5 sandwiches and 5 mins later we have been told one of them is out of stock, then 10 mins later another sandwich has been canceled . we had the worst experience at Reid's today after eating there many times. unfortunately the Manager was no help and was rude...we are vegetarian and today there was not much for us to choose from, except a grilled cheese sandwich...if it's delicious spending $14.00 for one I can tolerate...todays sounded good 3 different cheeses on focaccia bread with bechamel on top. we gave it a try...it had zero flavor and the sauce made it a complete mess...I took one bite and asked the server to send it back...the sandwich had no flavor as the bechamel became the only thing you could taste. she asked if she could replace it and I initially said ok with no sauce. when she walked away I changed my mind and grabbed the next server to ask her to cancel the order...this was in a matter of 2 minute. Well not sure what she did, but out comes the sandwich. we told her that we cancelled the order with the other server...she wasn't hearing us...sent over the manager and she put the sandwich in a box and said she would not take it off the bill and basically walked away. This was the worst customer service for a place we frequent. Today Reid's lost 3 customers and I plan to share this with others. I am not a person that sends food back...ever...but todays was just bad. read more

Love Reid's! Stopped in for lunch with my Spousal Unit and we started off with a fabulous smoked chicken and broccoli soup. I had the duck confit tacos; he had grilled oysters from Bekahs Bay NC...both excellent! And the carrot cake muffin is a dense, brandy-soaked delight. My server walked by my food sitting on a counter directly in front of where I was seated multiple times and I never received it until it was ice cold. Came in by myself and was seated by the kitchen which is open. Cooks are not wearing gloves, keep pulling their masks off, and are cursing loud enough for me to hear it while complaining about orders coming in. Not a good experience. $45 flounder entree was literally a whole fish....head, bones and all on a plate, with some cucumbers. It might be funny if it wasn't so expensive. We headed here after a strenuous hike at nearby Profile Trail. This cafe has a chalkboard with the daily menu listed - of which all that we ate for lunch was delicious! There's also an array of baked goods to choose from if you'd like a sweet treat. We had a pear tart and it was incredible. Service was patient and attentive (had a young, picky eater with us). This place is great. There's an elegance to the design that betrays its location in a little (albeit attractive) mall, and the staff was friendly, genuine, and helpful. The menu is limited because they change it every day, and focus on making a few very well prepared items. I had a bowl of perfectly spiced tomato soup and a side of roasted Brussels sprouts with rosemary. My lunch mate enjoyed her panini (I forget what kind) and her cup of tomato soup. My friend and I were having a meeting and they let us sit for as long as we wanted after we finished eating (which, of course, we wouldn't have done if people had been waiting for a table in this small establishment). When I was paying, I noticed that they carry Molly Chomper hard cider from a new cidery in nearby Ashe County, and I got a bottle to try. I love their decor, their food, and their ethos of supporting other local small businesses. Great place. Can't wait to go back. read more

Below is a grade for each item we were served: Sweet/sour brussell sprouts - AA Duck leg - A- Roasted tomato soup - BB Roasted sweet potatoes - C (This was served cold, thought it was a hot, which would have made a big difference in this dish although only about 1/4 cup of potato, rest was raisins and walnuts) Roast beef sandwich - C (Had gristle in meat, could not eat it on bread because of this) Brownie, Mexican wedding cookie, Coconut macaroon - D (These were all left out uncovered on a counter, macaroon was burned, all the coconut was black, but served anyway; brownie was 2 inches high, part was so hard all the way around it had to be broken open and soft part scooped out; Wedding cookie so dry it crumbled in my hand) - none of these were edible. The Hydro Bib Salad...... This is something I wish they could do weekly. From the Bib to the peppers! Unfortunately the ramps are seasonal. My first time having Peruvian Peppers.... tomato like with a little bite. Nice touch that's not your everyday ingredient, but very pleased with the addition. The blue dressing..... very tasty, not overly blue, seasoned well, drinkable. I would like to try with the ramps roasted or diced raw for a little more bite. read more

Reid's catered a big birthday bash for us this past Friday. The food was amazing. Starting with the home made potato chips, chicken and waffles and bison sliders. Dinner consisted of a Garden Salad, Mac and Cheese, pasta salad, Brussels sprout salad, marinated chicken breasts and beef tenderloin!!!! Everything was AMAZING! Even the bread was a crowd pleaser. Also the staff were incredibly attentive and nothing short of fantastic. Thank you Reid's for helping to make our birthday celebration a wonderful event and memory! read more
