Using a strange looking camera on a probe to "paint" my teeth, Dr. Jared Reid stitched a perfect 3D picture of both the upper and lower teeth. This took many minutes but you get to see a 3D color rendering of your teeth after. As it turns out, the photo is an absolutely accurate rendering and the measurements for your new crown will be made from it automatically by the dedicated computer. Dr. Reid cut the existing crown in half and then removed it. The stuff that you expect happened next ... he used high speed drills to remove the decay from the remaining healthy tooth. Just like as if you were about to get a filling. That was the only familiar part of this. After the decay was completely removed more pictures from the fabulous "wand-camera." This time it recorded the surface where the crown would be seated. That's when we got into really high tech land! Using those scans of my teeth, the computer models a 3D crown that will on the outside, match the old crown and on the inside fit exactly on the remaining healthy tooth. Once rendered, he sends the computer file to their in house CNC router. It is a wonder to behold. A piece of porcelain about 1 cm square is held by metal post and it turns as well as going up and down while being "attacked" on two sides by two, high speed, water cooled diamond bits. It took about ten minutes and out pops this perfect porcelain crown that just needed to be cemented in. Perfect! This is long but a few more lines here. What didn't happen! No mouth full of plaster-like gunk for many minutes to make an impression of your mouth. No temporary crown while you wait for the "real" one to come in in about two weeks. No wait! Also, one shot of novocaine only and it was totally pain free. Plus Jared is just a great guy. If you are looking for a dentist, I can't recommend Sugarloaf Dental in any higher.

We had our teeth drilled, and both of us felt really surprised by the lack of pain, (they use a topical anesthetic, and Dr. Cohen is very gentle), the level of comfort and reassurance, and, how fast it was! It was also affordable. Imagine, you too can receive gentle, friendly, and effective dental care without the worry of high fees or rough care! We have a dental plan (Aetna) rather than dental insurance; we pay out of pocket and receive a discount, and I have to say that in no way has the quality of service been compromised. After several appointments, they were unable to remove the abutment (which is fine - they just weren't equipped to handle my specific issue, which isn't anyone's fault). At the end of my most recent appointment, the dentist said that he would need to talk to the surgeon that originally put the implant in. I gave him the surgeon's phone number and he promised to call her that day. Two weeks passed and I heard nothing from him or his office - I called to check in several times and each time was told that the dentist was out and they would get a message to him. I eventually got a call back saying that he just got off the phone with my surgeon and he wouldn't be able to remove the abutment, but that he would refer me to a specialist. Another week goes by...and once again I hear nothing from them. I was finally able to get the referral I needed by calling into the office again and asking for it. It's just frustrating - I feel like they never would have followed up without me hounding them.

My husband was shocked at how costly my previous dentists recommendations were so we were considering a university clinic which was almost impossible to get an appointment with for a good year or two and a two hour drive each way or going to Mexico which I was not a fan of for many reasons. We found out about Dr. Zervas from a stranger who raved so highly about him we went online immediately and thought this might be a great fit. It absolutely is. Dr. Zervas is one of the most positive, high vibe, happy people on the planet. A beautiful smile always greets you. He is completely invested in your wellbeing and comfort.
