So disappointed with this store! My son bought me a yeti cup from the yeti display and realized when he came home that it was damaged. When my husband went to exchange it for a new one the associate refused. Instead she gave him a credit as if he was a "member" because the cup had been originally returned. What does the store lose to replace it with an undamaged cup? This turns me off and I'll never shop there again. read more

When I lived in Greensboro I frequently shopped here so when I needed a new pair of hiking boots I knew this was the place to come. They have the absolute best selection in this store. BERT BERT BERT!! The most solid dude in all the REI lands, hands down! I came into this location and needed a full kit for a week long trip in the Colorado mountains. I was looking at the packs and he came right up, told me to throw it in with some weight and really test it out. This surprised me just because I didn't expect him to put weights in it and let me shop with it on. Bert took the time to put me in front of a mirror, show me how to properly wear the black, and then he made all the adjustments with me wearing it. He then explained how he had the older version of the pack and that he loved it and had used it for a few years. Bert talked to me about how to properly pack out the bag and 100% sold it. I wore this pack in -20° weather and hiked all over the mountains with it. I need to pickup some straps and a few other things and it'll be perfect! Thank you Bert, you're the dopest out there and I hope people come to this store and specifically ask for you. You are a rarity and I hope REI acknowledges you for your professionalism. read more

I actually really like coming to REI and browsing through their products. Great assortment of all things outdoors from apparel to necessities and leisure items. I appreciate their mission/vision in giving back and sustainability. My experience as a shopper....it's never really pleasant. Doesn't happen all the time but once I get "this" vibe (this actually happens more than not than just this company), you feel a certain way. Not that I've been fully followed around, but I can get that rub and feel that is just not a comfortable or welcoming experience as eyes always somehow end up on you. Now there's very nice & helpful associates, but there are times where I feel like I'm seen as someone suspicious or something. read more

We love this local outdoor sporting goods store. They always have everything you need. The staff is wonderful. They always make sure you understand how to use everything or how everything fits. Extremely helpful staff who continues to ensure you are enjoying your experience and finding everything you are looking for. This place offers an outstanding footwear shopping experience. The staff seems to have a vast knowledge about footwear and the feet that go inside said footwear. The also have a nice paddle board and bicycle selection here as well with all the needed accessories to go with each. Wife and I just had a great shopping experience at REI. She picked up a pair of boots after returning the ones that a less competent associate sold her at the REI in Tysons Corner. Liz and Joe were both very friendly and were able to help her choose boots that better matched her needs. While she was working with them, Justin helped me with a bike I picked out. He walked me through some of the pros and cons and asked me some usage questions to make sure that I was getting the best bike for my needs. He also told me about the warranty, REI guarantee, tune ups, etc. Really pleased with the experience and how helpful he was. He even filled me in on some important things about the bike since it was a hybrid, and I'm only used to the standard cruisers. read more

Pretty good REI. I visited this place on a packed holiday weekend. Wow was this place packed!!! Lots of sales going on, kids running around, most things had been picked around so not a good selection to choose from. Very friendly associates, lots of them running around. We got asked several times if we needed help with anything. Pretty decent size store, lots of camping gear, bikes on display from toddler to adult, lots of clothing, mostly Patagonia brands throughout the store which is an excellent brand. Not a lot of parking in this shopping center due to other shops around it, that was a pain and we had to ride around several times. So good luck with finding a parking spot. read more

I came here to shop for a bike and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Not only does it have a great selection of gear for outdoor activities, but they have great customer service, the store is well kept and maintained, and they have a large variety of services available as well. The two people who helped me knew a lot about bikes, including the types of bikes that they had for sale in the store and were willing to order some online so I could try some out, which I declined. They were also able to print up some info for me so I could do some independent research as well. Also, in my opinion, the prices are pretty decent for a store like this. The products they carry are worth the price, and while they are priced higher than they are on some online retailers, they are of high quality. However there are a few things that concern me. One is that the store seemed to be poorly staffed when I visited. I never had an issue getting help myself, but there were some people who also needed help who couldn't get it for quite a few minutes because of me. Second, I am not a fan of the financing options they currently offer, but that's just because they do not offer one that fits my current lifestyle. Still, I will be returning here again for sure. They have a great staff and selection of affordable outdoor gear. read more

New to the REI world and so far, not disappointed. This was my second visit, specifically looking to be fitted for a hiking backpack. The sales manager, Drew, spent quite a bit of time fitting, providing tips and making sure we were fitted for the bags to suit our outdoor adventures. He went above and beyond, we never felt rushed or pressured. Genuine customer service and knowledge of the products were spot on. In terms of price...you get what you pay for! read more

I love REi but I absolutely insist that the customer service in a store be equal to the prices! High prices demands high quality customer service. Now the two ladies that sold my shoes to me we excellent at customer service. Mary and Natalie waited on us the two times we visited first to purchase our shoes and on the second occasion to exchange them because they were too small. The purchase was a very good experience and both ladies were super knowledgeable and helpful. So the three stars were earned by them. The return did not go so smoothly. First we were chastised for not joining their membership program which would make our return easy. We just purchased the shoes one week ago and they were obviously unworn. We had the receipt emailed to us but were having trouble getting a connection. The clerk at the desk was just rude and unsympathetic. We paid with a credit card and were purchasing the same shoes in a larger size. At any other store it would have been easy enough to return by putting the item back on the credit card and making a straight exchange. At least even if that would violate some rule of the store, the clerk could have been sympathetic and helpful, he was not. The store was not busy on a Sunday afternoon but he appeared annoyed that we were taking so long. It really marred an otherwise pleasant experience. read more

I give this place 3 stars. The reason why is because, you don't get real good service when it's busy. Seems like every sale rep you talk to just wants to hurry up to the next person. I went there today around 2pm to glance over a few items for a future hike. Seems like every rep was in a rat race to get somewhere. It's Christmas time, get some extra hands in there to fill the void! Prices are a little steep for me, looking for a down jacket and decided to go elsewhere. Found something similar for $50 cheaper at Macy's with the same down fill and color...Just a different brand. I have bought multiple items from them in store and online. It's a great place, just have to figure out when is the right time to go. Maybe in the mornings!?!? Look for their sales or one of those used garage sales that they have once a month. read more

So, a week later after contacting REI customer service and telling them what happened....I received an email from corporate stating the following; "We are forwarding your comments, so we are aware of how you were treated and we can prevent it again from happening in the future. Did I get a follow-up on this, or a phone call from the store? Nope! Just brushed me off. I will take my business elsewhere. Typically I find prices are about 5 to 10 percent high on almost everything this store sells. When I say 5 to 10%, I'm saying you can buy everything this store sells at any other similar retailer for less and and you should be able to save even more if you buy online. I quit shopping here because of this reason and every time i did purchase anything here they would ask me to join their "co-op" . I was told if I joined there co-op I would get a check back at the end of the year for 5 or 10 % of the total amount of purchases I made at their store. note to you REI, please tell me why I should buy from you for a 10 percent premium to get a check back at the end of the year when I can buy online for 10 percent less and no tax. I'm afraid if you continue this business model you will end up like circuit city. Good luck to ya read more

I am confused as to why people rate this place 4 dollar signs. This is an outdoor's goods store, so the prices reflect that. But there are salsa here and i do not think the prices here are any higher than any camping store or outdoor goods company. In fact REI has special royalty programs. If you love the outdoors, this is the place to be. Honestly, REI has just about anything and everything outdoor related that you could want/need. It is always very clean and the staff seems to be always upbeat. I love the way it's laid out too. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because, even though the staff is always nice, they do try to push extra things on you every chance they get. I went into the store to see if they had fishing accessories for my kayak. They stated that they don't condone any activity that harms animals. A simple we don't carry fishing accessories here would have sufficed. I will spend my money at get outdoors or great outdoor provisions instead. Nicer people and better prices. read more

Five stars for the guys in the bike shop! Very knowledgeable and helpful. All the other staff have been friendly and helpful too but I usually only deal with the bike shop. You feel comfortable going in there for help or just to browse even if you didn't buy a bike from them, which is very important to me and means that anything I do buy locally, I buy from there and still amounts to several hundred dollars a year. read more

If I could leave a zero I would. Let me start by saying that I have been a member of REI since 1990. I have purchased thousands and thousands of dollars worth of gear from them over the past 24+ years. I went to the Greensboro store to buy some new hiking shoes. The store was moderately busy for a Saturday evening (7 p.m.). I walked to the shoe department and waited for help. There were 5 employees in this department, some helping other customers and some not. There were also two more sales people trying to look busy in the aisle next to the shoes. There was one young female employee with a REI shopping bag over her shoulder that kept going around and around the upstairs but never stoping to help anyone. Very odd. I waited, holding the shoe I wanted to try on, and waited some more. I had 3 employees avoid eye contact and two more went to customers that had come in AFTER me. I went up to one employee to ask for help and he ducked around a display and started picking up shoes and disappeared into the stockroom. After waiting for over 10 minutes and not one sales person approached or even acknowledged me I left. All I can figure is that I am not as fit as I used to be, nor as young and maybe I don't "fit" into there market demographic any more, but my money is still as green and I now have more of it to spend. Who knows? All I do know is that I will no longer be spending my money at ANY REI store. read more
