Fairly new REI located on Laguna and the 99 freeway. Love their items they have there. A good selection of women's athletic shoes and Fall attire. Quiet on a Friday night. Plenty of mall parking. Pleasant staff. Clean and organized.

New REI in EG! REI had their Grand Opening event July 25-26th. They had vendors out front (9am-5pm) and some fun giveaways/games. Located in the same lot as Best Buy off Elk Grove Blvd. Good selection. Store is clean and organized. Friendly staff. Glad EG is now home to an REI to meet our outdoor-gear needs (but doesn't have as wide of a selection as the Sac location by Arden).

My wife & I were lucky to be present for the grand opening of a new REI retail store in Elk Grove... The store is very nicely displayed with all of the apparel available. Large selection of sizing and colors. I found my favorite branded clothing here at the REI store so I can shop locally which is nice!!! It's an amazing location right off of Highway 99, across the street from BJ's restaurant. Will definitely return!! Thank you, cashier Ethan, and the Elk Grove team! And thank you for reading.

I came here with my dad, an REI co-op member of many years, on 11/29 to return running shoes after purchasing them 3 weeks ago. He was denied a refund by the cashier, Chelsea, because some mud was present on the bottom of the shoes. This was questionable, as he had returned items with visible signs of use before at the Sacramento location with no trouble, and had seen shoes in the used gear section in worse condition. He had only used the shoes twice; they were still in very good condition and were "usable for someone else" - per the manager's requirement for a refund. At this time, a different cashier told my dad to go home, clean the shoes, and come back. He went outside, knocked off the dirt, then went to the bathroom and rinsed it off. When he came back to the counter, Chelsea ignored my dad, stared at the shoes, and walked away. Chelsea brought over her manager and told my dad they cannot accept anything wet, in contradiction to the other cashier saying my dad could rinse them off and bring them back. The manager told my dad that if he is going to return something, he needs to make sure all the dirt and mud are off, but they'll "make an exception this time" - only after my dad had to dispute his refund. Clearly, this is not a consistently followed rule, as the attached images show shoes on the used gear rack that still have mud present. Why were these shoes accepted, but my dad was denied? If the rule is that items cannot be accepted with any visible signs of use, that's okay. What is not okay is picking and choosing who you accept used gear from. The arbitrary application of these rules makes me wonder if the fact that my dad is Mexican had anything to do with this. I didn't think racism was what the "spirit of the co-op" meant, but I guess I was wrong.

Their selection seemed a little limited, but regardless, it's closer than driving to Arden or Roseville.

I had an exceptional experience at Fleet Feet in Elk Grove!…read more First off, I was looking to do a shoe fitting, so a few days in advance, I had selected an appointment online. It was very easy to book. On the day of my appointment, I came in 5-10 minutes ahead of my appointment time. I walked to the register and I was helped by Hannah (I hope I heard her name correctly!) She checked me in and directed me to take a seat towards the women's shoes area. She asked me my goals for the shoe fitting appointment, what I liked about my current running shoes, and what brands I was looking into. She then had me complete the feet scan. There is an area in the middle of the store, where you stand on a platform that scans your feet. Thereafter, you will walk several times back and forth on a pressure platform until the staff member tells you to stop. This pressure platform gives you a sense for where your weight is distributed when you are walking. Hannah showed me my scan results on a tablet. I learned that it is totally normal to have a discrepancy in feet size. I also learned about other things about my anatomy like arch and shoe recommendations. The scan results can be sent to your email. Unfortunately, shoe recommendations that are provided during your appointment are not provided through the email, so it is recommended that you take pictures of the shoes that you try on, that you're considering. When you're trying on shoes, they want you to wear their laundered socks to keep their shoes clean. Hannah brought out probably 3-4 pairs of shoes initially for me to try on. She helped me put the shoes on and had me walk back and forth in the store to test the shoes out. After that first round, she probably brought out an additional 1-2 pairs based on how I felt about the initial pairs she brought out. Ultimately, it came down to two pairs. Since I was undecided, she let me simulate running as I would, which was incredibly helpful, and I totally did not expect that level of service. I appreciated that she was warm and friendly, extremely knowledgeable, truly listened to my preferences and concerns, and never pressured me to purchase in that visit. Prior to the fitting, I was a bit nervous that I would be pressured to purchase items, and I am so glad that Hannah totally exceeded my expectations. Hannah also gave great advice on when to return for shoe fittings, such as if you experience a new injury/experience changes in your body (I never really thought of coming back to get refitted, but it makes total sense). This was also the first time I spent a considerable amount of time in this Fleet Feet location. They have a good amount of brands in here, such as Chicken Legs and Vuori. I'm personally a big fan of Vuori, and found that they had a clearance rack with some 50% off items with a nice selection in the back corner of the store. Overall, based on this experience, I would totally come back for my running gear needs!

He was welcoming, attentive, professional, and never made us feel pressured to buy or rushed, especially since we were there close to closing time. Jordan was especially patient and great with my son during the foot analysis, taking the time to explain everything clearly along the way. He didn't push us towards the expensive shoe and remained easygoing and informative with other shoes he tried on, which made the experience pleasant for both my son and I. They can get busy, so I recommend making an appointment for a foot analysis if you can, especially if it's your first visit.

I saw some pink ones that I really liked. An additional draw was everything was 50% off. I figured while I was there I could also find a new pair of jeans. When we arrived the displays were bright and cheery. I really like there sweater collection. They have several that I like, but i bought new sweaters last year so I'm not in the mode to buy a new sweater. Upfront we saw lots of nice christmas PJs. They also had plaid. All were flannel which was good as I wanted some warm winter pajamas. In the back they have just pajama bottoms. 99% of the ones they had on there website are not in there store. I was very disappointed. Online they have a larger variety. I saw a couple of pink ones that I liked. They even had some light blue ones with polar bears on them. The Chanukah ones even looked great. The sales lady was polite and offered to order them online for me so I could save on shipping. I thought of that, but I don't know what size I am and didn't want to hassle with having to return or exchange them. Plus their location isn't near my house, so returning it would require a drive all the way down the Delta Shores, deal with parking ect. Not worth it at this time of my life. They did have a nice collection of cute fuzzy socks. Next we looked at jeans. They have several styles, but not the color I wanted or the length From what I could see they don't offer short, or ankle length. Thus unfortunately I didn't get any jeans either. I guess we're off to Macy's to see if they have their pajamas in stock or if it's only on line there too. It may be the going trend, shop online. If that's the case I might as well shop on amazon, there it's 2 day shipping and free returns to the UPS store that's only down the street for me.

It's usually pretty busy most of the time and tonight was no different. I was looking for milk tonight and they have the brand we use here at a decent price. I usually check out the cereal isle since they have the newest stuff here but sometimes the prices are better at Walmart for cereal at least. I like coming here for the travel items. They have a good selection of small toiletries for travel. The place was pretty clean and organized. The shopping cart I got was clean to. The toy section isn't bad either with a large selection of Legos. Always nice to browse and see the new items. In the back corner of the store is the seasonal area where items change to the different holidays or events. Now is Valentine's day stuff. I think there are so many retail places in Elk Grove that you have to know where to get the best deals. This is just one of them. They have to keep up with all the others in our town.

Gardening dept could be bigger. They're currently undergoing a big remodel and the whole front entrance (the whole front side in fact) is closed off pretty much, so we decided to park along the north side of the store and walk through the auto center to get into the store. Thankfully, the auto center was still open. The prices for arts and crafts supplies have gone up, like everywhere else, but there's still plenty of good items for reasonable prices and most items have only gone up a dollar or two which is still pretty reasonable post-Covid, and with inflation at an all time high. As for the rest of the store, everything looks pretty organized and there's inventory of pretty much anything you could be looking for, we usually just go to the same few sections of the store: Arts/Crafts, Auto, Gardening Center, Stationery, and sometimes the Grocery Dept. although we do not mainly shop here for our food (we go elsewhere). Unfortunately, the latest time I used the bathroom here, the condition has really gone down in cleanliness and overall upkeep. I have to remember not to have to use their restrooms here, lol... Let's see if they remodel their bathrooms and what other improvements they make w/this whole big O' updating they're doing to the front side of the store. The service has consistently been great -- orders are brought out quickly, substitutions are handled well (and actually happen pretty minimally compared to other places), and everything is usually accurate. Over time I've even gotten to recognize a few of the employees who bring out the groceries, which adds a nice personal touch and makes the experience feel more friendly. Being able to order what I need, pull up, and have everything loaded into the car is such a time saver, especially on busy weeks. Inside the store, they generally have what I'm looking for, which I appreciate when I do need to run in quickly. The one area that could definitely use improvement is the restrooms near the front of the store -- they tend to need better upkeep. If you do need to use one, the bathrooms toward the back are usually a better option. Overall though, for convenience, selection, and reliable curbside service, this location has worked really well for me.
