Another employee pulled up a paper pad " waitlist " and told us there was only one person ahead of us and someone would come find us. No one ever came up to us or called our names despite being on this waitlist. After looking around the store for a while, we sat on the couches by the front desk to wait. No one came up to us for a long time, so we got up to the front desk and they asked if we needed help. We said we were on the waitlist, then the younger employees looked at an older employee and asked if he could help us. We were waiting around for no reason, which was frustrating, with 5+ employees standing around doing nothing.

Especially when the customer service at the companies come with very specific details that described the pros and cons of individual shoe types.

Installed the tube, two days later found a flat tire, removed and found the tube had bulged out and popped at the manufacturing seam. Brought back for a replacement and was told in a condescending manner that I messed up when installing the tube and they would not replace it. I've been working on my own bikes for 20 years and know how to do repairs. Bad customer service. Tube costs $7. Had been considering a replacement adult bike soon, it won't be from their shop! I never made it to REI. The people at Village were very knowledgeable and helpful. They had me out riding 4 different bikes in my range almost immediately, helping me decide on a Specialized old fart's bike (1X8, step thru, 2.4 tires). I was disappointed that they did not have the trip computer I needed, but that is a separate issue. There was a problem with the bike on my first ride, but they resolved it promptly when I took it back in. Their prices are comparable to others, they have a lot of stock, and the showroom is large and comfortable.
