Some REI's have some really bad attitude. This one does not! I've been here twice and I really enjoy the people.

The employee we asked about snowboards seemed confused when we went up to her to ask about them. Another employee pulled up a paper pad " waitlist " and told us there was only one person ahead of us and someone would come find us. No one ever came up to us or called our names despite being on this waitlist. After looking around the store for a while, we sat on the couches by the front desk to wait. No one came up to us for a long time, so we got up to the front desk and they asked if we needed help. We said we were on the waitlist, then the younger employees looked at an older employee and asked if he could help us. We were waiting around for no reason, which was frustrating, with 5+ employees standing around doing nothing.

I really wanted to try some Lowa shoes out here but as usual, trying to find a physical store with a good selection is impossible. I have tried talking twice to people here on the phone. But the young people these places hire that likely can't even afford some of these boots puts us in an area of non existent expertise. If you do not provide good customer service at a physical store you have absolutely no way of stealing the sales the internet will take from you. Especially when the customer service at the companies come with very specific details that described the pros and cons of individual shoe types.

I tried to exchange a water bottle that was literally ONE day past the 30 day return period. Brand new. Tags still inside. I was just going to exchange it for a different color since it was a gift. They said "sorry I can't do that."I said really? And they just looked at me with this look like "yeah we probably can but we're not going to." I was like sweet thanks. Walked out. I looked it up later. Yes they DEFINITELY could have according to policy. Frustrating uppity GR brats. I always Drew's when I have to go in there for something.

I like them so much that I have three of them. I was excited to find this location and went inside to see what new outer wear they had to offer as all of my coats are over 10 years old. I was immediately greeted by at least two salespeople who pointed me in the right direction as to what I was looking for. This location offers clothing, outer wear, accessories and footwear for men, women and children. I wish that they offered more for men though. A few minutes later I discovered that not only was I being watched by a guy in a button up shirt and jeans but, he was following me around the store. NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE STEAL! I do not steal nor have I ever stolen anything in my life! And to think I was going to buy my daughter a new jacket for school. I have never experienced this in any other The North Face store or The North Face outlet store. So I looked around the store a little more, told the salespeople to have a nice day and left.

Walking in I noticed right away that it just didn't have the same shiny feel as a Dick's, so I dubbed it the discount Dick's. The lighting for sure was not the best, but the merchandise was all displayed well for the most part and the store was basically empty when we visited. We asked an employee at the checkout where to find what we were looking for. They directed us to the wrong area, but it was close enough that was found the braces. They had a ton of options for these as well as tape and all kinds of protective sport gear. The store was pretty big but we mainly stayed in one area. I saw lots of apparel including some nice looking Lions gear. The parking lot here is not the best with lots of four way stops that seem to really confuse people, but if it's not too busy it can be okay.

I then approached them and asked if we could get some help with sizing and got the impression that I was interrupting them. The younger lady went to check on sizing and came back with none in the size we were looking for and them just walked off and we had to approach them again to ask for another shoe size and again walked off when none in the size were available. This happened three times in total. I would have thought she would have asked if she could find anything else in his size. The store was not busy and we were the only people in the shoe section. If you need shoes and don't need ANY assistance, then go as the prices were good. If you want ANY type of service, then I would avoid this store.

I attended an event over the summer that had a small market set up, and Public Thread was there with some products. I bought a "cube" made of woven fabric that's lined with upcycled billboard material that is water resistant and easy to clean - just wipe it off with a damp cloth. I use this as a travel dopp kit to hold my toiletries and makeup. The fabrics they use are all different prints, which makes it fun to browse their inventory as it's always changing. Public Thread doesn't currently have a public storefront, but you can find some of their items at the marketplace at Pack Elephant downtown by the Studio Park plaza, or you can order online from their website. I love the large duffel bags and small cross body bags. Public Thread items would make a great gift for the holidays, or any time!

I have bought running shoes, tested them at job and exchanged them with ease. Gazelle has multiple locations across the state, but if you are in the west Michigan area, I recommend going to the 28 location because their selection will be wider than the DT spot. Parking is also a LOT easier at this location too ;). 5/5 Yelp stars!
