Then we had our HVAC system replaced Feb. 2025, by another contractor since Hess quoted almost $16,000 and the other contractor charged us $9600. And the HVAC contractor paid for the permits. When the township came out to inspect the HVAC he saw the HW heater was not permitted. I called Hess and told them they had to file. I got a msg. back from them saying they would file but we had to pick it up and pay for it. I told them I would not pay. The owner, Jack Hess said then don't. He was rude and sarcastic. He said they don't pay for permits. I told him nothing was written about that on the proposal or invoice. He did not care. Turns out we had to pay since if the contractor does not pay the homeowner will be fined $2000 per day by the township. Don't use Hess. Since they don't pay for permits that means they don't back up their work.
