As someone else here said, "good standing tenants have not received their Security Deposits back"…read more I was a good standing tenant at this location (with an 824 Credit Score) and I tried for over 6 months to get mine back - writing, calling, texting, all to no avail. Crickets!!
Finally, I did some research and I see that the owner, Mr. Hayim Grant, has had issues with a few other buildings in New York City! Then I recalled that, after being in one of his buildings near 47th Street and 6th Avenue, I got an email from the company (while overseas) that said we all had to be out by the end of May 2024 - 30 days notice. Absolutely no reason given, but I suspect this is part of a pattern with him, as determined by my findings in an article from Nov 2019 in "The Real Deal" Real Estate News, where the New York City Marshall had paid them a visit at their (then) location at 1001 6th Avenue, and they had to vacate. Apparently, one tenant was given 15 mins to pack up his stuff and leave! Mr. Grant was quoted as saying that it was "all a misunderstanding". OK, but my research has shown at least 8 (eight) tenants have not received their Security Deposits back from many different locations.
They gave me a different office space, which was not even half as good as the one I had to leave suddenly at 47th and 6th, back in 2024, but there was a clause in the Contract that I would receive my Security Deposit back at the end of my lease. I followed the rules by the letter, and once the lease was up, I found another great space with another (wonderful!) company.
After over 6 months of trying to get my money back, I finally had enough. I used to work for the United Nations, so I know the importance of great research. I packaged everything up (20+ pages) and sent it all to Letitia James, State Attorney General's office. It took a couple of months, but FINALLY, one morning in February, I received an email from her, letting me know that my complaint had been submitted. Not TEN MINUTES LATER, there was an email from Corporate Suites, asking me for my bank information so that they could send me my money back, followed by an email from Mr. Hayim Grant, apologizing and then a phone call from the man himself, letting me know that "it's not my fault, this is the first I am hearing of this. It's my staff's fault!!"
Really!? Are you serious. You run 10+ buildings and you don't have staff to manage all this for you, and they don't know what is going on? This is pretty disgusting, and I do not believe a SINGLE word of it. I told him "there are at least 8 other people whom I've seen listed, since I started researching, who also did not received their Security Deposits back. Are you going to make sure they will receive their money back, too?". He said he would, but I seriously doubt it.
Bottom line is: DO NOT EXPECT TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK FROM THIS PLACE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, ANYWHERE ELSE!!
