Visited this past Saturday afternoon with my husband. We were partially visiting as Severance fans, but also have followed Bell Works for a long time and finally took the jump. After an hour long drive, we felt a little overwhelmed and underwhelmed all at once. The architecture is stunning, which felt expected to us. Would have loved even as small as a plaque acknowledging the history of the building and its importance in scientific discovery. What was less expected was that the shops were scarcely open, the food court only had a pizza place, and with how much security was there you'd think there were several threats in the building. Around 3pm they start cleaning up the common areas, kicking families and children out of the space to move their furniture. The sunken conversation space in the entrance is blocked off in two of the four directions. They also have an extensive list of rules that are listed around the building, but nothing about their shifts of furniture, etc. It gave "here's what we expect of you, but expect nothing of us". We chalked it up to the fact that we must have come on an "off" day with no markets or otherwise, but I do believe this building, similarly to many of these metroburb style spaces would benefit from more mandatory open hours of certain amenities at certain times. Unless you want a coffee, a pizza, have a dog or a small child and live within 20 minutes, it is a stunning space but not sure I'd travel to see it unless you research ahead of time the hours of the individual businesses you would be interested in. Seems more catered to locals and to corporate offices M-F. read more

HUGE building! We went on a rain day and didn't know there was a cute holiday market going on. We were pleasantly surprised. They have areas for the kids to run around too, which was fun. Definitely a spot to check out if you're in the area and want something to do. The shops inside are a bit pricey. I feel like that's the case with a lot of similar styled buildings. read more

The Bell Works is my go to spot to study. Comfy tables, great coffee, ice cream, pizza, and tons more. There's always plenty of space and the vibe is super chill. They have both an indoor and outdoor bar which is great if you want to grab a drink and relax. Now that summer's here, the outdoor patio is open too which is a huge plus. I love that it's open to the public, it's perfect for hanging out with friends or just getting some work done. read more

Yeah, I do not like what this place has become. I've been coming here for years, but tonight was my final straw. Too often I drive over to this "community space" and it's booked for a private event! There is a beautiful space downstairs but for some reason, there are private events booked on the main floor of the building. People come to BW all the time to work- at different hours of the day. And you have to sign up for their mailing list to use their website. There is, however, NO official notice via emails or social media feeds except for stories that you have to hold and read. How is that accessible to the local population? I loved this place when it opened. But it stopped being for locals a long time ago. When there are closings for film shoots and extravagant parties without public notice, it impacts the most important population of the space- the guests. Food and drink options are also abysmal. Just bring something. read more

Great place to explore during all seasons. My toddler loves running around on the indoor turf and playing with new friends. Plenty of food options. I'd been counting down the days for Mabel to open and it did not disappoint. The roof deck opens up during the warmer months and serves as a great setting to chill, enjoy drinks & food, listen to music, and let the kids roam free. 3.5 Star Review Bell Works is an interesting concept--a mix of stores, offices, and housing that feels like a mini city. However, it was surprisingly quiet on a Saturday evening, just 17 days before Christmas. While there were a few kiosk vendors, there wasn't much in terms of retail, and most of the stores were closed by 7 PM. The space itself is unique and has potential, but nothing stood out as especially engaging during our visit. It's worth checking out for the design and idea, but I'd recommend going earlier in the day for a livelier experience. I did visit an interesting connivence store with prepared food, I bought a glass bottle Mexican Coke and some lottery tickets, vendor was very nice! read more

I was in town for training and the company has space at Bellworks. I was expecting a traditional office building but this is something else. I believe the building used to a factory and has been converted into office spaces and shops and they also have a Montessori daycare. Some areas are still being fixed to add walls and make into spaces for people to use. The also had a farmers market yesterday and I wish I'd have known so I could grab some fruit. They're near a residential area so it's convenient for families. read more

Bell Works is a really fun place to visit! It was a great place to kill time before going to a concert nearby at PNC Bank Arts Center. You never know what you're going to get on the Parkway in the summer, so I gave myself plenty of time to get to the area from Bergen County and didn't want to spend the day tailgating in the parking lot, and this was the perfect option! Located just over a mile down the road from the Arts Center, there was plenty to do and eat. The building itself is very impressive. The common space is essentially a giant atrium surrounded by office space along the edges. It seems like it would be a fun building to work in, and definitely has more going on than your average office space. On Saturday afternoon a lot of the businesses were closed, but there was still plenty to do. It's a dog-friendly location, and many people were taking advantage. It seemed like some people took their dogs there to walk in a climate-controlled area, while others brought them along to hang out and have a drink or ice cream. There were only 2-3 stores open, and there were no pop-up shops happening while I was there. They had a bunch of tvs set up to play the Olympics, along with some basic decorations. It was a nice touch, and a bunch of us gathered around to watch the US win a swimming final. They also have a big indoor basketball court in another section where a couple kids were playing. I wish my office had that as an option! They had a lot of fun businesses for kids and adults. There was an Escape Room, Driving Range (indoor and outdoor), VR, a Pilates Studio, Fitness Factory, podcast studio and many more. The available food options were Bar Bella (outdoors), Corbo & Sons pizza, Booskerdoo coffee, Jersey Freeze ice cream, and the newly opened Mabel (outdoors). Everything else was closed for the weekend. They had a few other options that looked good, but likely cater more towards the work crowd. I tried everything but Bar Bella. I would recommend all of them! Mabel and Bar Bella are on a really nice deck area outside - they call it a rooftop deck, but it's really just a deck outdoors a few steps up from the ground floor. Mabel just opened and are still building out their indoor restaurant. Their pretzel bites were the best thing I ate all day and the best pretzel bites I've ever had! If I lived closer, I could see myself going here all the time for the different pop-ups and to check out some of the other businesses. read more

I love visiting Bell Works! There are some great dining options here, as well as an escape room, a few stores, a bank, and workout/dance studios. The market on Wednesdays is also super fun, and has lots of great vendors with all different items for sale, so there's something for everyone! The events here for holidays are great, such as Fourth of July and new years celebrations! Plus, if you're looking for a place to telework or just walk a bit but in an indoor space when the weather is bad, this is the perfect spot. This famous building holds a special place in my heart. I was once a telecom engineer and this was the Bell Laboratory, a beacon of prestige and excellence. I had mixed feelings as I pay homage on this very first visit since it was transformed into Bell Works. The sentiment was a bit negative during the approach since the access roads and the parking lots badly needed maintenance. But as soon as I walked inside, my eyes went wide open. The 1/4 mile long main area has been transformed into something hip. At the entrance are water fountains and a dozen indoor trees. A lounging area with free Wifi. Then you have the indoor basketball court. Dozens of offices and stores occupy both sides of the corridor, including a library, fitness center, restaurants, coffee shops, and even the Jersey Freeze! There was a "Fresh Night Market" happening on this day, a Saturday, making it a bit more festive and bustling. The facility management has definitely done a great job. It's too bad upstairs belong to various corporations and are not accessible to general public; otherwise, I'd have loved to have an aerial view of this grand venue. So yeah, I don't live in the area so I don't know if I have any business to come back; but if you've never been here, you absolutely owe yourself a visit. And if you live in the area, all the power to you! It's a great place to shop, eat, study, and even take a stroll on a bad weather day. read more

I love this place so much, it was love at first sight. The parking/entry is a little funky where you loop around and some are one-way roads. I was really confused on exactly what this building was, but my friend asked to meet here before a concert for dinner. I could live here in the future- the building has beautiful architecture with a lot of natural light through the ceilings. There are two huge forums on either side indoors, including an area for quiet study and another with a basketball court. The indoors also has everything you need for living- small boutique shops, VR recreational space, indoor golfing (digitally), coffee shops, pharmacy, library, bougie food court which has pizza and other options, bar. By dinner time, most of the food options were closed, and I thought the pizza I got was good but overpriced to be honest. There is also a wedding venue below but that area was closed off. Second/third floors seem to host office spaces. read more

there was a kids end of year event yesterday, August 23, 2025 got there about 5 o'clock in line for about a half an hour $20 per person went to the face painting in that line for an hour and a half totally crowded not enough space totally not worth it never will go again every line was so long. Bell in NJ is a big posh multi building place to shop, be entrained, get medical needs, enjoy Art, grounds, walk , rest, get a drink at their Bar, enjoy the architecture and just take it all in or rest and see the rest later. The store is not a dollar store. The medical facilities for massage, acupuncture and the like get 1 star less as when you find someone there they either don't have the listed services - or know about them. The creative pictures of Art on the wall are a plus. 3 of us and 3 different favorites. The glass ceiling structures are useful and pleasing to the eye. The Bar is nice and has cute effective signs. The piano does indeed get played sharing lovely tunes for customers as they walk by. Info says it used to be a lab and later was developed into what is there today. Really enjoyed the visit again and plan to visit and check out the rest of it . read more

As if Bell Works could not get any better or more dog friendly, they have a gorgeous outdoor space called Bar Bella which is a rooftop bar overlooking a pond and set beside the magnificent glass windows of the building. You don't have to travel to a tropical island to get away, as the setting has lush greenery and flowers, colorful seating, and a tiki-style bar to order cocktails, craft beers, and wines from. You can also order food for pickup or delivery from one of the eateries inside, including Mezza Luna! The sun is strong and it's a great place to get a tan. There are umbrellas and some shade, so if your dog gets hot, try to sit in those areas. There is free wifi, so bring your laptop and get some work done while having fun with your pup! The space, while indoors, is large and open so the air circulation should be better than other indoor venues. Lots of cute, small stalls with unique items. This is not a normal review... Having heard about this building many times, I was not sure what to expect. 2MM square feet really makes an impression! The plan had been to tear it down and build houses - this was prevented by a visionary developer who saw a different use for the facility. There are many small, tech oriented companies here and they are just coming back after the pandemic (I really like that thought). There are a number of food stands scattered around and a nice bar with outdoor seating. The building is open to the public to wander around the ground floor and there was a market on the day we visited. Take a few hours to look at a valuable piece of history that spawned many technologies that we enjoy and take for granted. read more

I have been to Bell Works quite a few times this past year and every time has been memorable. I came for their monthly Farmer's Market and walked around with a friend visiting the different booths. We were looking for more fruit and vegetables but they did have a mushroom grower plus other interesting booths. I had a chance to encourage two vendors to perhaps add gluten free options to their foods. The farmers market is inside so you don't have to worry about inclement weather. Another time, I went with a group and we were there during a rain storm. The electricity went out and everything was fine for about an hour. Since it was during the summer, the lighting wasn't too dark plus the emergency generator lights came on. However, the building began to get warmer because there was no air conditioning since the power went out, so the security guards calmly told everyone to prepare to leave the building. We did leave and go elsewhere but it was a nice time anyway. Another time, we just wanted to hang out, so some people got drinks at Bar Bella and others decided to explore this decorated original phone booth. They even had old phone books from the 80s stocked next to it. We took pictures inside and enjoyed looking through the old phone book. The outside of Bell Works is open if the weather is warm enough, so one night we walked around the property, which they have neatly landscaped. The building is open until 12 am, so afterward, we came inside and just walked the ground floor, peering inside the different businesses. It's a nice place to hang out if you are alone, since you can people watch. Couples can enjoy walking the building or sitting in one of the many places and spending time talking. I even saw people working at the tables and kids running around the open spaces inside. Bell Works even has nice bathrooms, so it's a great place to simply hang out and be entertained and relaxed. read more

The building is open to the public and they have different events year round (follow them on FB or IG). They welcome families to come enjoy the indoor turf area in the center of the complex. Bell works is a great place to go for a daytime activity. They have coffee shops and other businesses inside. We went on a Saturday when they do pop up markets with different private businesses selling various items/ goodies. They are usually only done some saturdays usually from 1-6 so always check their site which they keep up to date. The best part is that you can bring by your pets to this which a lot of people do! Beautiful atmosphere inside and made a lot of purchases in helping small businesses! Also the manager at the coffee shop is an absolute doll and remade my coffee due to a miscommunication and loved my dog so love her and will be back! read more

PROS: There are many offices for companies there and there's also active life for the workers and any visitors. There's a gym, basketball court, bar, restaurant, library, and more. The workers are very friendly and the place is very clean and stays open late CONS: It's mainly overrun by teens and the bar isn't "lit" like a regular bar is OVERALL: If you're in the area this is a place that I would definitely check out! I really enjoy coming here. It's open to the public 7 days a week but it's really worth coming especially when they host the Bell Works Fresh makers market. It's Wednesdays from 11am - 4pm. They have dozens of local artisans, designers, craftsman and specialty food vendors. All the vendors are so friendly, enthusiastic and often even offer samples. I like the fudge booth, the soap booth and I discovered the butter guy on my last trip. They have candle makers, flower vendors, handmade jewelry makers, a pickle guy... The Instagram page is @bellworksfresh if you want to explore further. The development of the businesses and offices still seems to be in the works (lol at that pun) but it looks like soon enough they will have just everything you could want. They have a food court, restaurants, an ice cream place, a pod cast studio, an escape room, doctors, dentists, a spa, a hair salon, a pharmacy, a convenience store.. the list goes on and on. Bell works is a great spot to visit during the week or on the weekend with your little one! The large green astroturf is awaiting little footprints, and the waterfalls are fun to watch spraying around. The library even has a little children's area with books and small toys. Hungry? Oh boy where do I start with this place? So I'm going to go with just the building itself. On my days off I like to just walk the building. The design is just that nice that I enjoy both the inside and gorgeous patio. Bar Bella is such a fun addition especially during good weather days. So many great food options and coffee spots as well. I frequent the Wednesday market that has some of my favorite vendors such as AU Honey(try the lavender honey). So much more spots I still want to check out and maybe a play or show eventually. Definitely a cool workspace only bummer is that I don't work there myself read more

I used to work at Bell Labs, so I couldn't wait to see what had become of the incredible building designed by Eero Saarinen. I'm very impressed by how the unique architecture has been repurposed so well into a mixture of retail, restaurants, civic space and office space. I went on a Thursday, so I missed the Wednesday market that I hear is fantastic, but the place was still buzzing with a mixture of workers and members of the public who were there to shop, visit the library or grab a bite to eat. I hope that eventually all of the retail and office space is filled, because I would really like to see this great work of architecture be used and appreciated. read more
