This was my first time at Leon's Salon. I visited the website for Leon's on Battleground to review…read moreservices and pricing. I chose the service for shampoo/cut/styling for $45 dollars. I called and made an appointment with Sara confirming the price of 45.00 for chosen services. Upon my arrival I could tell that Sara was in a bad mood. She was definitely not friendly. Her vibe was very off. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and asked her if she could successfully complete the cut for my hair. She said she could. She immediately started cutting my hair dry. She cut it much shorter than the picture. I was so intimidated by her bad attitude and service that I didn't dare tell her that she skipped my shampoo and styling. She then had the audacity to charge me $40 dollars for a horrible haircut. I am 61 years old and have NEVER been treated with such disrespect and rudeness by a hair stylist. Total ripoff!!!

I had previously booked an appointment for another day and time, but wasn't able to make it then. The staff was very sweet about rescheduling my appointment to a Saturday morning. My appointment was with Kayla, and she was super sweet the entire time. She listened to my concerns and visions, and then shared her thoughts on the same. I have curly wavy hair, so she suggested lengths and cuts that would suit my face and hair type. She was really helpful throughout. My total included a hair wash, hair cut, and blow dry. I think their charges are reasonable and the service is great! Would definitely recommend.

My stylist did a great job on the top of my long hair, and I didn't notice till I got home (lots of glare in the salon) that the bottom front areas had no highlights. I'd spent nearly $200 and got less than expected, so I called to see if the stylist could just put two more highlights in. Was told that bc I couldn't come in right away, since I was going out of town for 10 days, there would be a charge for a "redo." Corporate policy. I explained that I was traveling and couldn't come in for almost two weeks, and didn't need a redo anyway, just two highlights, one on each side. It didn't matter. This was not Hanes Mill Rd as given in the pulldown, but another in Winston-Salem, and I assume all salons would be as rigid.

I was told that I was fine that I did not need to come in for a consultation and that the services will be able to be done. I don't think she knows what she was doing. I understood that she said she could not do the perm because of the hair color, but said that I needed a trim. Trust the process, is what I kept telling myself and it was the worst mistake of my life. It was more like a chop. No curls, my hair is uneven. I can't even describe the way it looks. I have to pay someone to fix my hair. Now, the salon is bright and welcoming great lighting and a lot of room and very clean.

Rhonda asked a few questions, played around with my hair a bit and then 30-40 minutes later, I was transformed! She's an absolute magician. I've never gotten more than 2 inches cut off so it was shocking to see 4-5 inch strands falling to the floor but I am so happy with the results!

So today was my first time every going to a salon that specializes in natural hair and I'm amazed. The owner Aminah is fantastic and she had done an amazing job with hiring and training her Jr. stylist Julia. They are both extremely professional but also very down to earth. The price at first scared me a little bit for everything she did and the time and detail she took on my hair, it was well worth it. She washed, conditioned, Co washed steamed and cut my hair and I'm in love. This was the best experience and I'm in love with my curls. For once they don't look dry and they have shape and shine and it was just a fantastic experience overall

There are currently 5 stylist, but some are part time with other careers. My stylist is Crystal Brown Williams. Crystal is a licensed public school Career Technical Education teacher as well as a certified make-up artist and cosmetologist. Teresa, the owner, is a hair stylist extraordinaire. Every one leaves her chair looking so beautiful. Berlyn gives the best shampoo in the history of shampooing. Leisha does some of the best sew in styles I have ever seen. The newest stylist is Erica and her clients always leave pleased as well. The shop is clean and professional. No loud music to compete with the family friendly atmosphere they have established. There is plenty of parking until lunch time and the nearby Mexican restaurant takes over the lot on Saturday but it slows down quickly and is fine on week days. The location is safe and right off Eastchester and not far from the 311 exit. If you are looking for a new salon give them a try.

I got in several minutes before my appointment and had to wait another 20-30 minutes to actually be taken in. All of the staff were friendly and social, although they tend to throw out compliments perhaps a little too insincerely or unjustifiably (but what salon does that not happen at?). The hairstylist who cut my hair was very sweet and kept the whole experience quite pleasant. Since what I wanted (only about 1/4 inch trimmed from the bottom of my fairly straight hair) did not require a lot of technical skills, I cannot comment on her ability to manage more complicated haircuts. I was also a little alarmed that my hairstylist did not seem to understand the importance of periodically trimming ends of hair so as to remove the dried out and split-end hairs. I was charged $25 for a simple trim with no wash or dry. I think that is a little steep considering what she did, but still my haircut was even on the bottom and overall fine. Overall, I would call this establishment mediocre.
