I stumbled on to Kyle Britt through friends and I followed him to Instinct from the salon where he previously worked downtown. He is the most phenomenal stylist no, hair artist if you will that I've yet to encounter. He has magnificently handled my hair from it being midway down my back to it's current slightly shorter than pixie. All the steps in between on my hair adventure Kyle has kept me looking beautifully sexy. I alway leave the chair satisfied and sure that he's topped himself yet again with the cut, style, and functionality. Any time I overhear anyone I know, and sometimes don't know, looking for a salon or a stylist I recommend Kyle. I've recently relocated to the Columbus OH area and the search for someone to rival Kyle Britt's talent is on. Hah, who am I kidding? I am sure this is a great salon...but I have to concur with another reviewer who stated that you will invariably get the answering machine-- which is problem number one. Twice in the span of of a year and a half I have left a message on their machine--because no one answers the phone--requesting an appointment with Jenn. And twice I received a voice mail back from Instinct, coaxing me to book with someone else at the salon. Huh? Why? I rarely see hair color I love...but when I do, I always ask who the colorist was. In this case, it was Jenn. The first request was met with "Jenn is all booked up for the holidays, you can book with x, y or z." Because it was a busy time of year I understood. But the same thing happened 9 months later. If Jenn is not taking new customers, just say so. And answer your phone. Still looking for a colorist but at Instinct? No...my money and golden locks will go elsewhere:) read more

I feel bad even posting this review about a haircut I got a few weeks back, but, after straightening my hair last night, I couldn't ignore the tragedy any longer. My friends have described the layers I have as a graduated mullet or chin length bowl cut with the next layer at the middle of my back. To add insult to injury, my appointment was rescheduled 3 times and when I arrived I had to wait 40 minutes. Proceed with extreme caution. read more

I get my hair bleached and retouched by Chelsea, and she is awesome. I've watched my hair get longer and thicker and healthier since I've been her client. It's hard to find someone who knows how to treat a blonde, and even harder to find someone who knows how to treat a long haired platinum blonde. I wrote my first review of Instinct Salon (Braden Cook specifically) back in September 2013. I have now been seeing Braden every 6-8 weeks since and I am continually blown away by his talent, hospitality and the salon as a whole. Not only does my hair always look fabulous when I leave the salon, but I leave feeling refreshed and relaxed after enjoying wonderful conversation with Braden as he takes his time to exceed my expectations. I also look forward to watching him interact with his others clients in which I see firsthand the consistency he maintains in getting to know the specific wants and needs of each client. It is apparent that all of the other stylists are extremely talented as well, but I would highly recommend Braden to anyone looking for an uplifting hair experience and also a new friend. read more

Terrible business ethics: I have an appointment today. Anna at Instict salon calls me and leaves a message at 9:30am that someone canceled her morning appointment so she is switching people around. She is canceling my appointment at 2pm for someone else and asking me to come back Wednesday or Thursday during my working hours. Making an appointment is reserving a time. It's ok to ask if it's ok to reschedule but not flat out cancel my appointment to give to someone else. No I'm not coming back ever. So disrespectful. read more

Instinct was wonderful! I found the right fit!! I'm new to Greensboro, and was nervous about finding a new color stylist for highlights and low lights after spending about 2 years at the same salon in San Diego. I really appreciated the time Braden took to get to know me and my past hair experience. I value a stylist who cares about my hair health and color/style goals. I called the number and was put to voice mail both times, but their website indicates they do take walk ins and they were open. We walk in and a woman who works there was sweeping the floor and I asked her about getting our hair cut and she ignores me. There is no receptionist. My daughter and I stood around for awhile and watched some hairdressers talk with another customer and finally (I think when they see we are not going to leave) a woman walks over and tells us the woman who takes walk ins is not there and we can take her card and call for an appointment. Two hairdressers who are not doing hair are apparently too busy standing around to take us. We are a middle class mother and daughter, but perhaps we aren't cool enough to have their people cut my daughter's hair, I don't know. We decided to go to Great Clips, who were very friendly with us and my daughter got a cute she is very happy with. read more

I used Instinct salon for my recent wedding (as did all of my bridesmaids), and we had a great experience! Anna was the most kind and genuine person and was always making sure (through practice run and the real thing) that I was happy. I never felt like I couldn't tell her to change something or start over. They allowed us to bring in a bunch of snacks the day of and kind of take over the whole salon. My only thing that was slightly stressful was in planning the time to start the appointment. We didn't pin it down until the day before, and it was largely a decision driven by me, as oppose to the salon. I would have appreciated a little more feedback on how long they thought it would all take and telling me when to be there. However it all turned out wonderfully, we were finished a little early and everyone was happy with their hair! The salon is clean, professional, and does good work. I would defiantly recommend them to anyone in the future! read more
