My niece was part of the prom court and she wanted everything to look perfect, right down to her…read morefingertips. On May 11 she went to THE NAIL BOX to have her nails done to match her dress. Unfortunately, you can see in the picture from that day, her cuticles were raw from rough treatment by the technician in addition to the red stain on her skin from the sloppy application of the polish that was inadequately cleaned up, not to mention glue slopped all over the polish between the gems like they had been applied with a hot glue gun from the dollar store. I understand these gems are small, but I have had similar nail designs done before and a professional knows how to do this with little to no glue showing. They obviously used way too much. There wasn't time to have these removed and done correctly by another nail salon before the prom, (not to mention the added expense to redo something already paid $120 for) so she just had to make due... My sister never ask for a refund, BUT decided to leave a review regarding her dissatisfaction with the finished product, WHICH is a consumer's right to do. SHE DIDN'T GET WHAT SHE PAID FOR! There was nothing stated that was untruthful, only criticism of the work including a statement she did not recommend the Nail Box and would never bring her granddaughter to their establishment again. BUT IT GETS WORSE! As luck would have it TWO of these nails came undone, just over a week after they were applied. One of which snapped at the fingertip (obviously filed way too thin) and the other nail came completely off the bed. (And it was a pinky nail, the nail that naturally gets the least abuse with normal use) There wasn't even time for a growth gap from the cuticle line to appear before they failed. IF these nails were applied properly, to begin with, this wouldn't have happened in such a short time frame even with moderate use. This petite girl is not a farmer or a construction worker, she wasn't digging trenches with her hands. There was nothing, outside of normal daily activities, that did not contribute to this premature failure. BUT even with all this in mind, my niece went back to the salon to give them the opportunity to fix these two nails AND THE SALON REFUSED TO REPAIR THE SHOTTY WORK UNLESS MY SISTER REMOVED HER NEGATIVE REVIEW! The salon basically blackmailed her into removing her legitimate review to fix their mistake! My sister begrudgingly complied so my niece could get her nails fixed. Only to be charged $20 for the repair of THEIR POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP! Had she known they were going to charge her to fix what they did wrong in the first place she could have left her review stand and paid a more reputable and professional salon to replace the missing nails. I'm not saying they aren't capable of producing a quality product, I have seen some nice pictures of their work... BUT THIS WAS NOT IT! They did a horrible job on my niece's nails. She could have got press on nails at Walmart that looked better. A professional salon owner would admit this was not up to par and do what they had to to make it right, NOT bully the customer who wasn't happy. Had they acted professionally and taken my sister's review for what it was worth, and worked to correct the error, I'm sure my sister would have removed the negative review without prompting. But instead, they chose to force her to remove it and charged her for the repair! NO LEGITIMATE BUSINESS demands a consumer to remove their honest review! That is what review consoles are for. Do good work, get positive reviews, do crappy work... well... But in the meantime as a business, that offers a service you are subject to critical commentary from customers who are not satisfied and do not recommend you based on their experience. You can NOT force them to lie by omission! As a "local guide" google reviewer THEY WILL NOT BULLY ME INTO REMOVING THIS LEGITIMATE REVIEW UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES because I will personally pay for my niece to go to a reputable nail salon when the rest of her nails (and probably the two that were replaced) fall off in the next day or so given the lack of quality in the original application! And instead of the one simple negative review that The Nail Box forced my sister to remove, I will be utilizing every review forum I can find to make sure everyone sees it and personally tell all my friends to avoid The Nail Box at all costs. Extremely Poor craftsmanship Absolute WORST experience Horrendous customer service Infinitely unprofessional business and a COMPLETE FAIL DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THE NAIL BOX! FTR... Demanding the negative review removed is ACTUALLY AGAINST THE CONSUMER REVIEW FAIRNESS ACT. It is illegal for companies to include standardized provisions that threaten or penalize people for posting honest reviews. We have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and encourage anyone else who has been treated this way to do the same! 1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357)

My review is for the Fairmont location…read more I liked the assortment of items for purchase - prices were reasonable. I liked the waiting area - until I sat there almost 40 minutes. I was 30 minutes early but still waited an additional 40 minutes. Other customers were left unattended in the spa chair. One sweet lady had waited so long she threatened to leave AND had been phoned to come in AND the tech who phoned her did not remember calling her! I didn't see any licenses on display - a mechanic could have been doing my service. It certainly felt that way. Numerous times I had to ask my tech to be more careful. I have NEVER had a pedi that left my toes painful to the touch. I have one finger that is so sore under my nail because the tech cleaned under the nail not paying attention to the tool she grabbed. She said she's been there 3+ years? How? Zero time management. The plate of food was a nice touch, but I'd trade that for a more professionally ran spa. No tub liners were used, my tools were not opened in front of me - I'm not even sure they were sterilized. The salon wasn't dirty, but it did look cluttered, messy, and disorganized. TS was my fourth nail salon to try in Fairmont. The previous three were just as bad or worse. I was told TS was the best in Fairmont. I hope not, or I'll be trying salons in a whole different city. The tech did do a good job. I mean, my nails look nice. But the entire experience was not worth $100+. Honestly. My appt was at 1:45. I didn't leave until close to 5. My entire afternoon was shot. I will not be going back to the nail salon.

Costs were added to the services at the time of checkout that were not discussed at the time of service. when asked for a design I was curtly denied and cited, for time limitation but I sat sat for 30 minutes after my service was completed waiting for my daughter in law, watching the employee remain idle. My daughter in law received a brow treatment for tint without an allergy test first and later had a severe reaction. We spent almost 400.00 for two mani/pedis and her brow tint. Very disappointed.
