I really can't say enough positive things about Dr. Dylan. After basically ignoring plantar fasciitis in my left foot for many months, I finally limped my way into Regain Performance at the recommendation of a friend. Kaiser had previously advised stretching and sleeping in a boot, neither of which was helping. In fact, the pain was becoming much worse, progressing to the point where it was painful to even drive or sit at my desk. Dr. Dylan explained right away that I actually needed to build strength in my feet and calves instead of just relying on stretching. I am a 57-year-old active woman who has been an avid runner, hiker, and periodic resistance trainer for more than 30 years. I originally came to Dylan upon recommendations from several of my friends that I go to the gym with. I had been dealing with knee issues during running and from weightlifting/squatting. I first came to see Dylan while battling two different injuries - a groin strain and a torn shoulder labrum (SLAP tear). My main activities are CrossFit and basketball, and I'm currently 33 years old. From the groin strain, I was severely limited in squatting (CrossFit/lifting) and lateral movements (basketball), but tried to keep scaling things to stay active. By the time I saw Dylan I couldn't go below a loaded quarter squat without fairly significant pain and avoided any full effort basketball or other sports. After a couple months I was back to full depth squatting, and started an unrestricted squatting program 4 months after my first visit. I continued PT with Dylan throughout, and he helped me adapt the menu of movements as I regained function and required progressively less attention to the groin. Another 2.5 months later I hit a lifetime PR on squats, and he continues to help me maintain. The torn labrum I could push through, but caused me some lasting achey pain when I did. I'd made some progress on the shoulder working remotely with another PT prior to seeing Dylan. That PT was the person who had originally referred me to Dylan, and the two of them communicated well to transfer care for in-person support. This injury has been a long road, but between rehab movements and some deep tissue work, both from Dylan, I've gotten back to doing everything I want to do with minimal pain or fear of secondary injury (which is a risk with labral tears). I had one good PT before Dylan, but had been working with her remotely and was limited in care for that reason, which led to the referral to Dylan. Prior to that I had not had many good experiences with PTs referred by my insurance, who were not super focused on getting me to the more demanding activity levels that I enjoy. He's been very good at helping me understand my injuries (for example, realizing my groin strain was related to an improperly rehabbed hamstring tear in my past) and treatment plan. He listens to any concerns and works with you to alleviate them either through encouragement to try baby steps toward the goal or he comes up with an alternative if you or he are concerned that the suggested exercise might be too much at the present time. When I came to him, I was weak and out of shape after many years of alleviating pain by avoiding exercises whenever my toes, ankles, knees, lower and upper back, neck, wrists, elbows, and/or shoulders flared up. I'm now able to walk 5+ miles in hilly terrain, and easily carry groceries without causing chronic pain. We are still working on getting stronger and I still get some pain but little enough that I can continue without worry that I will be in terrible pain later. I can often alleviate most or all of the pain by doing the exercises. Dylan is an awesome PT who will not only help you get back to where you want to be, but help you go beyond! I am a startup founder that does a lot of physical activity on the weekends - primary trail running and skiing. I started having recurring lower back pain a few years ago when lifting weights. I tried doing stretching and lower back exercises on my own but the problem would eventually resurface. It was very frustrating to be kept away from doing the things I love. I've been working with Dylan for the last year and have seen SO much improvement in both pain symptoms and sport performance. I'm a 32 year-old beach volleyball athlete and personal trainer, and I originally came in for pretty aggressive low back pain and right shoulder pain. I myself have a degree in Applied Exercise Science, have worked in a rehab clinic before, and was trying to manage my own pain before coming to him. With that being said, I am very thoughtful about the practitioners with whom I will work. We were actually working out of the same cooperative professional space for a number of months before I chose to start seeing him as a patient, so I got to see how he operated as a clinician. I was impressed with his knowledge, respected his dedication to patient care, and appreciated his easy-going demeanor. When Dylan and I started my rehab journey, I had backed off of pretty much all weightlifting because of my low back pain and was also not able to play beach volleyball much at all (when I did, it was with my non-dominant arm). There were a number of sessions at the beginning where my emotions were running high due to pain and disappointment about where I was at, and he always did a masterful job of acknowledging what was going on for me and allowing that emotion to be there while still laying out a plan of action and mobilizing me into next steps. I had been utilizing a lot of soft tissue, stretching, and some strengthening strategies before working together. Because of my hypermobile tendencies, we adjusted that lens to be mostly on neuromuscular connection and activation work. We did a lot of isometric work at the beginning, as well as strengthening my shoulder into the areas and ranges of motion it was weak/disconnected. Dylan did a really intentional job of meeting me where I was at, adjusting my programming based on my feedback, and balancing the regression and progression of a rehab journey that isn't static. As an athlete in a highly dynamic sport, it felt like slow going for the first few months, but he continued to lay out the plan and make sure I could see where we were going with it all. My symptoms continued to diminish, and we started to re-introduce weightlifting, plyometrics, and getting me back on the sand. I was able to play the last few tournaments of my season and even surprised some of my opponents who were used to me not having much hitting power at all with my right! I also started doing Olympic weightlifting in the summer, which would not have been possible without our work together. The last few months have been a true testament to the hard work that went into this process, and I have seen PR (personal record) after PR in the gym! I am the strongest I have ever been and feel so excited to keep pushing the needle forward! Dylan and I are mostly working together in a sports performance capacity now, which is where all of the fun stuff gets to be incorporated. It feels like a huge confidence boost to have him in my corner, and as a fellow practitioner, it's also so mentally alleviating to let him be in charge of my programming. I always send him my PR videos, and he's a fantastic hype man! I truly wish I would have started working with him sooner, because now the sky is the limit! read more

Dylan is the best physical therapist I've ever worked with. I worked with Dylan for all of 2025. I was focused first on managing repeating aggravation in my forearms. Beyond that, I wanted to expand my general physical fitness and try new workouts - without getting injured. We succeeded on both fronts. We lastingly got the forearm issues under control. And I increased my running and started rock climbing without any significant injuries. When small things did come up, Dylan quickly diagnosed the issue and get it corrected so the issues resolved fast instead of getting worse. Unlike other PTs I've worked with, who just added more and more recommended stretches and lifts over time without deliberately planning a program, Dylan was mindful of how much he was asking and always made sure we were focused on the current most important issue or goal. Dylan helped me to return to sport after an ACL tear. He was extremely attentive during our sessions and made adjustments to the plan based on my ability or discomfort that day. He was able to explain clicks or pain in my knee and gave me the confidence to work through the pain when necessary. Working with Dylan to transition from movements I had been doing in a clinic to sport-specific field work (with cleats on) was valuable in my return to play ultimate frisbee. Dylan is an absolutely incredible PT providing thorough and compassionate care. He is the reason I am able to do the sports and activities I love without pain after I had given up hope on being pain free! I began working with Dylan when I moved to the bay area by way of recommendation from my previous PT who had worked with Dylan in NYC. I was recovering from an ACL/Meniscus tear and surgery from a ski accident along with long term sciatic lower back pain. My goals with physical therapy were to get back to the activities I love like skiing and running without having to be in pain, along with resolving the lower back pain that made it difficult to even sit in my chair at work. Dylan was a game changer!! When I first met Dylan, I was able to function quite basically with my knee pain, but was unable to do the sports I loved without discomfort, and was not yet able to ski. He was extremely thorough in his initial assessment of where I was at and helped make a plan for how to get me back to working out, running, and of course skiing. Each week during our workouts he gave detailed coaching about why we were doing each movement/ exercise and how to make micro-adjustments to ensure that each exercise was beneficial to my recovery. He frequently checked in throughout the week over text to ensure the workouts were running smoothly and to see how the pain was improving. He took me through multiple progressions of each exercise to increase my strength over time, and was always checking in to make sure that exercises were helpful and not hurtful or ineffective. We tracked my progress together so I had clear proof of improvement. He ensured that each exercise for my knee would not irritate my back pain and vice versa. I grew to love working out and going to the gym again while working with Dylan because I could see a clear upward trend in decreasing pain. When PT would become tough mentally, and I would reach blocks in staying positive, he was always there to reassure me and provide quality care both on the physical and mental side of things. I am now able to run, ski, and do any activity or sport I want completely pain free! I never thought I would be able to say that. I honestly believe my knee and back are actually stronger than before I was ever injured - he got me back to 150%! If you are looking for a knowledgable PT who shows genuine care for every symptom of your injury or pain that will get you back to doing what you love without pain, I give my highest recommendation to Dylan.
