The food smelt so good we decided we couldn't wait to take it home so we ate it at the restaurant . The food did not disappoint. I ordered Turkey wings, collard greens and peas and rice. I have eaten curried goat from at least six different Jamaican restaurants. This was one of the best. It is the reason I gave Jamaica House four stars. The place was packed, the music was good, and the atmosphere had great energy. Unfortunately, that was the highlight. We ordered two appetizers: shrimp and oxtail egg rolls. The food arrived within about 15-20 minutes. The egg rolls had so little noticeable oxtail that I honestly questioned whether there was any inside. The shrimp reminded me of the bang bang shrimp you can get elsewhere--nothing particularly special. Overall, the food was okay at best. Our drinks, however, took about 45 minutes. During that wait, our waiter didn't even bring us water, and we constantly had to track him down whenever we needed something. Thinking it might be faster to order directly from the bar, we tried that too. No luck. The bartender we approached gave us a look that made us feel like we were bothering her simply by asking for service. Her attitude came across as rude and unwelcoming, and that interaction really left a sour taste in my mouth. There's plenty of parking, but the lot is very dark. As a woman, I wouldn't feel comfortable walking to my car alone with so little lighting. Would I return for food and drinks? Absolutely not. The music and atmosphere were enjoyable, but they didn't make up for the average food, long drink wait, and disappointing service.
