If you are on the fence on finding a dentist or wanting to find a new dentist, congratulations you've just found your forever dentist. I am very picky about dentists, it takes time to build trust and know that you're in good hands. In fact, I kept the same dentist for ten years and traveled over an hour to make each appointment. I was very apprehensive and wanted to stay with what I knew. Life got busier and then COVID hit, I fell behind in my dental visits and I took the opportunity to do some research to see if there was a dentist closer to home. I am so glad I did. I was very impressed at the new technology that Dr. Bartz uses, it definitely made the visit easier and seemed to go much faster. The office was very clean and beautifully decorated, I was very comfortable at all times. The staff was very accommodating and wanted to make sure I was comfortable at all times. My child received an expander and a Herbst appliance. Unfortunately, we did not see the results we were expecting. We had ongoing concerns about her palate width and lower-jaw position during her treatment, and have ultimately decided to transfer her care to another orthodontist. One of our biggest concerns was the level of orthodontist involvement during our almost two years of treatment. We rarely saw the orthodontist at our appointments, and most of our visits were with an orthodontic assistant. At our appointments, we did not see the orthodontist check the orthodontic assistant's work after either the expander or Herbst appliance were installed. When my child's Herbst appliance broke on two occasions, both times the orthodontic assistant removed it and replaced it. We did not see the orthodontist check the orthodontic assistant's work after it was reinstalled. When the appliances were finally removed, glue was left on my child's teeth. We were sent home with it still on her teeth and had to make an appointment with our dentist to have it removed as it was affecting her bite. Another concern we had was that we did not receive post-treatment measurements after either the expander or the Herbst appliance were removed. As a result, we were not provided with objective measurements showing what changes, if any, had occurred as a result of the treatment. Based on our experiences with orthodontic treatment for our other children and my wife, this was very different from the level of orthodontist involvement and oversight we have experienced at other orthodontic offices. We were also surprised by the office's current Phase 1 fee of $4,590 for an expander, which is substantially higher than comparable fees we have personally been quoted at other orthodontic offices. Overall, we were very dissatisfied with our experience and ultimately decided that our child would be better served by transferring her care to another orthodontist.
