Melissa and her team were AMAZING, all of my ladies (and myself) looked absolutely stunning for my wedding. Not only did Melissa and her team do hair and makeup for seven ladies without any concerns with time, they also did hair and make-up for my flower girl which made the day that much more special. Melissa is a true professional, if you are planning a wedding in Calaveras County/Northern California be sure to inquire with The Hair & Makeup Company - they are the best!

However, I found Melissa after digging through wedding blogs and seeing her work on other brides in the general area. I was attracted to the seemingly effortless style that each of those brides had (although a lot of work goes into those effortless styles). Luckily for me she was available and able to travel down to the Big Sur area for our big day. I went up for a test a few months before the wedding with her and Sarah (make-up). I couldn't have been more delighted with the outcome. I wanted a low bun- with wisps look. I also had succulents that I wanted put in the side of my hair. Not only did I look and feel amazing, I also hired her and Sarah to do my bridal party's hair - which was no easy feat. From braids to super long hair to super short hair - they had to make it work for all of them. We all received so many compliments from our family and friends. Everyone looked so beautiful and I would highly recommend Melissa and her team to anyone.

La ti Da Salon - So natural

Gave me the wrong hair treatment and didn't tell me…read more My experience with Kayla Wood at La Ti Da was unbelievable in the worst way. This was my first time seeing her, and she was recommended by locals on Facebook for Brazilian Blowout treatments. I walked in expecting professionalism. What I got was the exact opposite. I made it painfully clear, multiple times, when making the appointment and in person, that I wanted the original, stronger Brazilian Blowout formula, not the light version. She looked me in the eye and assured me over and over that she'd be using the original formula. She literally even told me that she had to source the original formula for my appointment from someone outside of CA because CA no longer sells the strong original formula. Fast-forward a few weeks, my hair looked nothing like a real Brazilian Blowout. Frizzy, wavy, dull--nothing even close to the results I've had for 15 years with other stylists. I've had approximately 25 original formula Brazilian Blowouts over 15 years so I know exactly how my hair reacts. So I reached out privately and politely via text, asking her for her advice, her opinion, and asking if maybe too little product was used and if next time she could use more. I also sent her pictures of my now wavy, frizzy hair. And that's when SHE CASUALLY ADMITTED SHE'D ACTUALLY USED THE LIGHT VERSION--the exact product I told her I did NOT want. She never told me this during the appointment. Not a word. I only found out because I asked. There's nothing "miscommunication" about that. That is a straight-up undisclosed product swap. But the absolute icing on the cake: when I politely asked for a PARTIAL refund (I was willing to pay for her time but I wanted a partial refund because I now have to pay someone else to redo the correct treatment), she refused... and then sent me a message saying she'd filed a police report! And if I contacted her again she would file an additional report for harassment. Over what? Me asking why she used a completely different formula than the one she promised? And as unbelievable as that is, something additionally wild happened during the appointment. While she was in the middle of my treatment, she made a personal phone call right next to me asking her husband how much he'd been drinking and telling him he was too drunk to pick up their child from school. I just sat there stunned, stuck in the chair while she had this whole conversation inches from me. Meanwhile we weren't done with my service, and suddenly she had less than 30 minutes to get to the school herself. It was chaotic, unprofessional, and honestly uncomfortable. Now, after telling me she had filed a police report, she claims I "left before the service was finished" and is using it as an additional excuse. That is absolutely not what happened. I did exactly what I've done for 15 years with every Brazilian Blowout I've ever had -- I chose not to have the stylist do the second wash because many clients prefer to leave the product in longer so the treatment sets better. Every stylist I've ever had has offered that option, including Kayla. She even told me a lot of her clients prefer to leave with the product in. So to see her later twist that into "you left in the middle of the service" was incredibly disappointing, especially given that the real issue was that she used an entirely different product than the one I requested in the first place. I've never in my life dealt with a stylist who changed a product without telling me, admitted it, denied it, and then tried to intimidate me for asking about it. The whole situation went from disappointing to surreal. I'm leaving this review because I wish someone had been brutally honest before I booked. If transparency, professionalism, or basic respect matters to you, please think twice. I definitely won't be going back. Edited after owner response: I'm posting this because the salon's response doesn't reflect what was actually communicated to me. I was never told the formula I requested was illegal--Kayla told me she had sourced the stronger formula from out of state and confirmed she'd be using it. I only learned otherwise yesterday when she acknowledged in writing that she used a different product, which contradicts the public response. I was also never offered a free correction, only asked to "come in and talk," which didn't address the issue. And how could they "correct" the service when the original service I requested wasn't performed in the first place? I have everything in writing, and my review reflects the actual communication. I even tried to resolve this privately with a 50% refund request since the wrong product was used, while still compensating her for her time. Kayla responded saying the salon does not offer refunds and she had filed a police report. It's unfortunate the salon chose not to resolve this professionally and privately.

I went in for a bleaching service and my experience with Heather was extremely upsetting. Before my…read moreappointment, my hair had volume, sat well on my head, and did not constantly tangle. During the service, Heather aggressively backcombed my hair and began the bleaching process. Almost immediately, the top of my head became completely flat, and since then my hair no longer sits right or has any natural volume. The texture and behavior of my hair changed significantly after this appointment. I also want to mention that I have a sensitive scalp, which I communicated during the service. Each time I said "ow" because my head was hurting, it was brushed off and laughed at instead of being taken seriously. That response felt unprofessional and dismissive, especially while a chemical service was being performed. This experience left me uncomfortable both physically and emotionally, and my hair has not been the same since. I would not recommend this business to anyone who cares about their hair health or expects their concerns to be respected during a service.

She made the entire process painless (and even fun!) from beginning to end. I told her I wanted a trim that would bring out my natural wavy texture (which I'm learning to embrace) without making the ends thin (because I want to continue growing and donating it) and she absolutely NAILED IT. Seriously, I washed it the next day and just air dried it without using ANY product in it and my hair was gorgeously wavy and had 10x the volume!! It's like she reprogrammed my tresses! My high school reunion was later that same day, so after chopping and cutting I asked if she could style it for the event... and she nailed that too! Nobody has ever styled my long hair in a way that didn't fall flat within the hour (because of the heavy weight of that much length) but my appointment was at 9:30AM and my hair still looked bomb when I left the reunion at 10PM that night! Even though it had been outdoor and windy!! I honestly can't speak highly enough of Mona and Kids Kutz. Don't let the name fool you because they definitely aren't just for kids. I'm honestly never letting anyone else touch my hair again, EVER. If you want to see more of the donation and how amazing my haircut is holding up, look me up on TikTok: @AnniesGotaBun

I have had multiple interactions with her and over and over again I am disappointed... She rushes clients and doesn't do a through or quality job. Her time management skills are poor and her staying in contact with her customers are just as poor. I understand she " runs" a business and her " time is really limited and no one seems to care about that" but for her being a business owner you'd think her priority would be staying in contact with your clients, who are paying her salary to keep her business and herself a float. I understand she's young and is still Learning what professionalism looks like but this is how you loose cliental or future clients. This is a small enough town that word gets around. I hope the best for Kylies career By the way.... I didn't even want to give a star, but I couldn't post this without giving at least one star for the review....
