Well, Jillian spa is absolutely one of my favorite places, but getting a gift certificate for my son for Christmas for the Jillian spa sampler was not organized in anyway" they should've done the massage first then the facial and then the hair it was unorganized. When I walked in I thought it was cute decor. I was expecting to be treated better. Maybe smiles and hi how are you doing. Can I get you anything etc. but nothing. Marisa was the one who cut my hair I just wanted a messy type bob. Thought that was pretty easy to do. And seems to be a popular look so I thought. I had to go over the cut 2xs with her and then I gave up. She said if I wasn't happy to come back. Well after spending over $120 for a cut, blow out and bought conditioner and shampoo oh and gave a $10 tip, and not even asking me if I was happy or anything on the way out, I would never come back here. I had just had major surgery a few months back and wanted to treat myself and just feel special for the day. Did not get these vibes at all. Just so disappointed. And will not recommend. A million stars for Rachel. I've gotten several ReNew Facials from Rachel and she's amazing! I started going to her when I was 6 months pregnant because my skin was looking awful. She always made sure the bed was positioned so I was comfortable, which is no easy feat when you're nearing the end of your pregnancy! I like that I never feel judged for my lack of skin care maintenance or forced to buy any products although I've come to love the Eminence line that she uses. Leticia has advanced training and really knows her stuff. At my age, I'm now dealing with sun-damaged skin, some redness, broken capillaries, and of course fine lines. I go here to get my hair cut because I have very curly hair, and this is the only curly-hair friendly salon I've ever found! The best salon in the area for sure! I had my wedding in Bear Valley, and was lucky to squeeze in a day of hair and makeup appointments for my 7 bridesmaids, mother, mother-in law, and myself on my wedding day! We had the whole place to ourselves, were able to use their adorable garden patio for eating and drinking, and we all looked amazing for my big day. Marissa did my hair and Sierra did my makeup, and I felt very listened to the whole time. *** 3.5 Star review *** I originally came to Jillian Day Spa in 2007 as my pre-wedding spa day when they were located on Main Street. I needed a Spa Day so I decided to re-visit Jillian Day Spa. I booked a couple weeks in advance and received a few text reminders prior to my visit. I was greeted by the wonderful receptionist Rhoda who checked on me regularly throughout the day making sure everything was going well. ** 5 stars ** My first service a 90 min Deep Tissue massage with Lois. This was the 2nd worse massage I have ever had. It was not relaxing at all, I was thinking the entire time, when is she going to go deeper, I asked for a deep tissue massage, all I got was a lotion rub down. ** 1 star for the massage ** Next service was a European Facial with Christina. All I can say is AMAZING!!! She was wonderful and the massage she did during the facial was awesome, it helped relax me a bit after my not so great massage. I highly recommend Christina for your facial, and she also does massage too!!! Now I know! ** 5 stars ** Time for lunch! They ordered me lunch for a local place. I had a cobb salad with balsamic vinaigrette and chicken, it was really good. Thanks for setting up lunch Rhoda!!! Now its time to take care of the hands and feet with a manicure pedicure with Doreen. She actually did my nails back in 2007!! Once again she was great. I started out with a wash, then she brought me over to her chair, my hair was dripping wet, right through the gown, she then cut my hair, blow dryed it and that was it. As I suspected, since most stylist do quite a bit of cutting after the dry to make sure you don't have an uneven areas, my hair is uneven, this will cost me another haircut. ** 1 star ** Well, at least some of my spa day was good. If anyone is reading this - it would be so amazing if there was a sauna here! I think it would enhance the day spa experience so much and I know I'd be a regular. It's pretty common for day spas to have a sauna or steam room and I really miss that since I moved to the area. Saunas are great for detoxing and natural healing. Other than that, I wish the music would be louder in the massage rooms - it has been awkwardly quiet the past couple times I've gotten massages.. When I get a massage I just want to lose myself into it rather than hearing outside noises or having a conversation with the massage therapist. Had a great experience this weekend with Marisa at Jillians. She did a fantastic job (like magic!) fixing my quarantine hair. She took me from brassy bright yellow to a gorgeous soft blonde with root melding and lowlights. Then she did haircuts for both my kids! She was great with them and I really appreciated her squeezing them in. Highly recommend! I have mixed feelings about this place and would give 1 star but for my initial experience. My first visit was in October at their old location on Main Street. I scheduled a 60 min. Swedish massage that was $65. The layout was a bit odd, massage rooms were in the back and upstairs in another building. There were no showers or resting room, but I guess with their prices there's not much left for amenities. I was awestruck at the quality of my massage. The therapist was absolutely amazing. She worked out knots in places I didn't know existed. I wish I remembered her name. I decided to go back in December with my husband. I just couldn't stop thinking about that massage...and for $65!! I could do without the shower and other things I normally look for in the spa experience just for that massage. We arrived in Murphys to discover the spa had moved to a new building on the highway, very easy to find. I was expecting something even better at this point, maybe they had a shower. We were shown to our rooms (no shower) right off the narrow hallway behind the reception area which were smaller than the old location. It all looked shiny and new, but as I settled in, I realized I could hear everything that was going on outside my room - people walking and talking. I began to feel a bit claustrophobic but tried to relax. My therapist seemed young and nervous, her technique was also lacking. I scheduled a 60 min. Swedish and 30 min. reflexology massage. This was not the experience I remembered form October. My husband gives a better massage. I did fall asleep, but I can take a nap for free anywhere. My husband complained of the same problem. He requested the 90 min. deep tissue. His therapist also seemed to lack experience and it was not deep at all. I won't be making this trek again anytime soon. If we weren't visiting family in the area it would have been a complete waste. read more
