The staff has been so patient, caring, gentle and loving to our 3 children. 2. Class programming - Whether it be learning about cutting hair or brushing teeth, science experiments, they do it all. We have been taking our daughter to Refinery Preschool since she was an infant. The school is very safe, which was a top priority for us. They have lots of fun themed days and activities for the kids throughout the year. The teachers and director are very caring and nurturing. They really try to teach our daughter skills that will help achieve important milestones. The hours are perfect for our schedules and we best of all, they are considerate of working parents during the holidays and only close for a couple of days, rather than taking an entire week off. Refinery Preschool is a safe, clean, supportive environment for children. Our daughter cries when it is time to leave as she absolutely loves her teachers, classmates and all the staff. I was very nervous leaving our only baby at school but the teachers and administration do an excellent job with communication and letting us know if anything comes up. One of my favorite things has been the videos and pictures we get sent throughout the day. Our girl is always laughing, smiling and highly engaged with different activities. I enrolled both my daughters and they have been thriving since enrolling them at Refinery. My 4 yr old just recently graduated and left to TK, but she still loves and misses her teachers! Our kids have been attending Refinery since 2021 and the entire family couldn't be happier. I love how all the staff care for our kids like family. Our kids didn't have the easiest transition into daycare and the staff continue to amaze us with how kind and nurturing they are. The school is always clean and well-equipped, and it always feels welcoming and safe. Our kids share and show that they feel secure and happy there. Absolutely love this school! My son attended this preschool for 3 years before recently going on to elementary school. Before I found Refinery, I toured many preschools. None which I loved or felt comfortable leaving my little guy there. When I toured Refinery, I knew it was the right place for us. Even after 3 years, the staff, teachers and director were amazing! Refinery Preschool is amazing! The teachers and staff are wonderful, nurturing and caring. They helped my daughter get confident in potty training, which was a huge blessing. She now wakes up during nap to pee and knows how to use the bathroom by herself. My son and daughter both love all their teachers. The classrooms are beautifully decorated, fun outdoor play sets and amazing curriculum. The activities are engaging and family events were always so perfectly detailed. Attrition is high with their staff. At least when we went there. Kids need stability not constant changes, every time a new teacher was introduced, so was the action plan. There were about 4 changes in head teachers in the less than 2 years that we were there, to me that's quite high. So it was a hard transition with every new teacher. It was nice they use the app to communicate with the parents. But it became a daily communication from the teacher at the time about how terrible my child was that day. About 2 pages worth of complaints. Daily. Approached the director and was told the same thing. You have a bad child you should get him checked out. I'm no doctor so we took him to a specialist, whose official diagnoses was to change schools because he was just a kid being normal kid! But before all the change in staff the kid really loved the school. We came over from a Montessori before this because we wanted to add the Christian bible element to his education. So why the 2 star instead of 1? Because I believe the school wants to do well. And I want them to do well, so I added a star, or I'm rounding up. It was tough times when covid started so that might be why they had such bad teachers. The first teacher was great, sort of the reason we enrolled, but she went to another school about 4-6 months after we started there. This is a late review, about 6 months late, so probably a lot has changed since we left. read more

We LOVE refinery!! My 18 month old son has been attending Refinery since he was 1 year old. I had a horrible experience with a previous childcare provider and I was so nervous to trust anyone with my son. I have been so happy with my choice to put him at Refinery. They have an app that allows me to see updates on Corey throughout the day as well as lesson plans. My son has THRIVED!! He recently moved to the toddler room from the infant room and it went great! He was behind on talking and with their help, he has started to say his first words! He attends 5 days a week and looks forward to going every morning. We love all of the staff and teachers. Refinery Preschool has been a godsend. My infant started at 6 months old during the start of the pandemic when many other daycares where closed. They were open to essential workers and from then on, my worries of leaving my baby in the care of someone else had vanished. As soon as we toured Refinery Preschool, we knew that it was the one for us. The classrooms are very well maintained, clean, and very welcoming. The staff from the teacher's assistants to the teachers to the accountant to the directors to the pastor have all been so kind, communicative, and trustworthy. Refinery Preschool is a small community where everyone knows your name, the kids are thriving, happy and having fun, and the parents are rest assured that their children are being cared for. My infant, now 14 month old toddler, loves her teachers and they love her. A true testament is seeing my baby run to her teacher with open arms when I drop her off. It cannot get more real than that! And her father and I are amazed by the new developmental and social skills she learns from school. Choosing Refinery Preschool is one of the best decisions we've made. Refinery Preschool has been an amazing experience! I was reluctant to daycare since I had my mom watching my daughter so this was a hard transition for me. They are creative with their lesson plans, teach about the Bible, give the kids self confidence and independence. They give the kids jobs/duties to help out around the classroom. Very seasonal with art projects. Summertime they have fun fridays with water, nature walks etc. They have an app so you can see how your little one is doing through out the day! Love it. My kids attended here for years and I cannot say enough great things! The staff is welcoming, friendly, and they love the kids! I love the little conversations they have with each child. My child has been attending Downtown Chapel Child Care since last fall and I could not be happier with the school and the teachers. The classroom size is great - not too big and not too small. The other schools I visited in the area were so massive that I was overwhelmed by them. But the smaller class size ensures that all the kids get some one-on-one attention and I love that. The teachers and staff have been great. There is constant open communication with them and I feel like I can discuss just about anything. I truly could not be happier with the school. We recently moved to the Brea and it was SO nerve racking deciding on a safe place, I trusted, to care for my 3 year old daughter. She really liked her previous school (now too far away) so it was a scary transition for her. But right away they were very attentive and very patient with her. On our first visit Ms. Janine (the Director) made a point of interacting a lot with my daughter (some just focus on the parents during tours) but that spoke volumes to me. That she was interested in getting to know her and making her feel comfortable and not just trying to sell the school to me. It has now been almost a year and I can't say enough about Downtown Chapel (Now Refinery Preschool)!! Right away I felt safe leaving my daughter with the teachers. They are always so helpful and friendly. And I love that they use lots of technology(finger print check-ins) to facilitate a safe environment and they always have good communication with parents (along with an app) to share upcoming events, updates & photos. Sadly we are leaving soon as my daughter transitions to Kinder and I am sad she didn't have more time here. If safety, play-centered, and faith based are at the top of your list, Refinery is perfect! read more

Refinery Preschool bullied my 5 year old and is an unsafe environment for children. Another student in his class, who his teacher confirmed had violent tendencies because he is delayed and "a plan in place" to avoid further incidents, was punching him in the stomach, scratching him until his skin broke, verbally bullying him, etc. so I brought it up to the school. The director had a phone conference with me wherein she told me that the delayed child would be monitored and it would not happen again. However, two weeks later I went to the school, my son ran to me and asked me to talk to his teacher because the child hit him AGAIN. I brought him home and immediately called again at which time the director was irritated. She asked me what I wanted and I told her that I wanted to know that my child was safe when he went to school each day and said she "could not make any guarantees" we came to a new understanding with the help of my mom, who has experience in this field and is a personal injury attorney. However, I kept him home for the rest of the week because he was shaken up. Yesterday during drop off, the director asked if I could come by in person for a ten minute meeting. I agreed and the Pastor's wife was there. She was demeaning, domineered the conversation and said that by "involving an attorney" in our conversation (my child's grandmother) I had "broken her trust" and made her feel threatened. My mother repeatedly assured her that she was there to facilitate conversation because I was so upset by the situation. She repeatedly blamed my child for still attempting to be kind to his bully and include him in play. She had already written a check returning our tuition deposit before our meeting that sat on the table the entire time and steered the conversation more toward the privacy of the delayed child and that I "know way too much about the other child" than our child's safety and kicked my child out of the school. It was apparent that the delayed child has a relationship with the school/church and that he was a sensitive subject and repeat offender. Obviously we will be pursuing this further, but I believe it is important that other parents considering childcare are made aware of this experience. It is shocking and disgusting that this church and the pastor's wife behaved in such a cowardly, irresponsible and cruel way toward my kind, gentle and scared child. read more

My toddler has been attending for about six months now and we have had such a great experience with this child care. They really care about the children and and keep the parents informed. He often comes home having learned new things and we've noticed a difference (for the good) when it comes to interacting with other children and adults. Not sure what happened with Milena V's experience 17 days ago but my grandson has been going to DCC for almost 2 years and we couldn't be happier. He has learned so much and will be attending kindergarten in the fall. Joanna, the preschool director has been wonderful! They work with us when we go on vacations as my husband and I are his primary sitters. He normally goes 3 days a week but if we go on vacation they allow him to go full time which helps us and my son and his wife. I would recommend DCC to anyone looking for a Christian environment, great caring teachers and wonderful staff! read more

They recently remodeled the entire campus and it is beautiful and clean. I am so happy he was able to get into this school.
