Took my son here for an acne scarring consult and knew I would be charged $150 to meet with the nurse to receive a recommendation on treatment. While setting up the appointment, the receptionist said I would be able to apply the $150 towards the treatment which seemed reasonable to me. I tried to learn more about costs and procedures but the gal said, "it depends" blah blah blah and would not elaborate any further. Little did I know that one treatment for "medium to low" acne scarring would cost $1,600 for ONE laser Halo treatment(!!) , or approx $4,600 for three treatments. There were no lower options provided. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE for this reason. It is a bait and switch!: the office receiving at least $150 for a consult, knowing their pricing is outrageous. Instead, I went to another well-respected dermatologist office where the consultation was FREE and their options much more reasonable AND with great outcomes. Wasted $150 of good money! read more

I feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon this practice! I came to RefinedMD to treat my cystic ance (pops up every once in a while) but this time around was triggered when I used the laic acid pad...My face started breaking out. Alice Hwang, the amazing NP who took care of me, was not only incredibly knowledgeable but is an absolute gem! The laic acid pads were waayyy too harsh for my skin and I needed to rebuild my skin barrier. She injected the cortisone shot directly into cystic acne, supplied me with a gentle face wash, prescribed me acne treatments. The next day, the cyst acne and inflammation were gone! Like magic! :O I also really appreciate that my concerns were genuinely heard and there was no attempt to pressure me into anything beyond what I was comfortable with! The entire experience, from consultation to treatment, was seamless, and thorough, and the friendliness of the staff made it a standout visit! Especially RN Rachelle has been working magic not only on my skin but also my Botox and fillers for my face. She is absolutely amazing. This is a review for Dr. Sudeep Roy and his team. I had a cyst on my cheek about the size of a lemon seed. They tried to inject with cortisone for two weeks but it didn't reduce the swelling, so Dr. Sudeep suggested surgery to remove it. The morning of the surgery, I appreciate that Dr. Roy was cheerful and methodical. Although it was summer, I started shivering due to nerves, so the team wonderfully provided a blanket to help me feel better. He marked my skin to show where he would cut with the scalpel. Afterwards, he mentioned the cyst was larger than expected underneath the skin so he had to cut a bit more, but removed it entirely in tact. I followed their instructions to apply the Strataderm Scar Therapy Gel. Now more than 6 months later, the wound has healed amazingly and is now barely noticeable. I just got back from a procedure appointment with Dr Yeh earlier today and she's absolutely fantastic. Not only is her bedside manner top notch, her general personality and approach are soothing, polite, understanding and very caring. I finally took the plunge and decided to get a cosmetic procedure that I had been wanting for probably the last ten years of my life. Considering it's my face, I was understandably nervous but also excited because I had no reason to believe there wouldn't be improvement. The procedure itself was uncomfortable but I can assure you that the nurses and Dr Yeh will do anything to make you as possibly comfortable as can be. In and out in 30 minutes and not even two hours later, I can already see a difference. The front desk staff are also positively lovely, I am thrilled to find such a capable, caring and available dermatologist and a clinic that not only offers a variety of services but is also fairly priced. I got my lips done by Dr.Swindel. I'm not going to sit here and talk badly upon him, he is a nice doctor. However, I am very unhappy with outcome and how the management handled the situation. My lip injections looked nice for a few months, I understand some migration happens, but I literally look like a duck. This is the results AFTER I had my fillers dissolved. Clearly my lips are still puffy and above and under my lips. I believe I had a total of 1.5 ml over a year and a half time period. I went back again to get them dissolved even more, and the manager said I need to pay $400 because I "got them injected elsewhere". I wouldn't be writing this review if this was the work of another injector. The manager accused me of lying and said that I got them done elsewhere, since the last time I got them injected was 6 months prior. I am not a liar, I guess my lips just last longer than average! I honestly started to cry because I don't like being accused of something that is not true. The manager rudely said "why are you crying we are just having a conversation?" Not a conversation. I am being attacked. I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

My appointment was perfectly on time, the stuff is very warm, personable and friendly, and I've been very happy with the results. Dr. Swengel is a big supporter of natural results which is exactly what I wanted and the reason I came here. I always received a call the next day to see how I was doing. Huge bonus: if anything isn't perfectly symmetrical after 2 weeks they always welcome you to come back for a minor fix to even things out. I felt little guilty doing that initially but was immediately put to ease upon arrival and taken care of right away. The very next day my face was balanced and everything was nicely "smooth". Dr. Swengel is always a pleasure to visit! I have been seeing him since 2013. I don't trust any other dermatologist. On the occasions that I have ventured outside of his office, I always come back to him for help on fixing whatever new antiaging thing I tried. He is an expert at what he does. Esperanza, his amazing medical assistant, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Hands down, she is the best assistant I have had the pleasure of knowing in this field. I'd give this place zero starts if I could. I went in to get acne treatment which I was told that the specialist will access my skin and let me know. I was told that just getting the acne facial will help. The "specialist" just applied few creams and cleansers and then extracted the acne that was too easy to extract (I have extracted that acne myself at home). Then provides my skin a "special treatment" by rubbing my skin with this small machinery (I don't even know what it does) and then sends me home and charges me $115 for that crap. I get home and i'm looking at my skin and it looks like I've only applied lotion onto my skin and that's it. I see no difference what so ever. I call back and this lady on the phone tell me that she did the best she could because you're acne is so aggressive that she couldn't even touch most of it. If that was the case, they would've told me before so that I would've left. The "specialist" wants me to make 1 facial appointments every month and according to her that way my acne will be cleared out. I see more results by doing my skincare at home than I saw by getting this facial that was basically for a show. This place is nothing but a huge ripoff. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Roy. I had a mole on my face that I had always wanted to have removed, but I was scared of the results/scar. This was a surgical removal, not just a shave removal. I want to start by saying how nice and clean the office is, I love it! I had the Diamond Glow facial done by their Esthetician Sarah and it was truly amazing. This review is long overdue. I was treated for dark sunspots on my face and to remove some tags, at RefinedMD last year and another spot removal treatment a couple weeks ago, by Vera Lee. I had amazing results and the service I received was so exceptional! Vera and her staff are so friendly and courteous. They made me feel so comfortable and did such an amazing job of treating all the areas that I had concerns about. Vera is so knowledgeable, yet so personable. I immediately felt comfortable with her and could see her genuine concern and care for her clients. They even followed up the next day to make sure I was feeling ok. All the providers and medical assistants I had the pleasure to meet have always been professional, patient and friendly. I really appreciate that they check in with you via text the day after a laser treatment to make sure all is well. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Swengel. After months of research, I decided to have a consultation with him. He has decades of experience and is exceptionally experienced with all skin type and color. I am Indian so this mattered to me. From the moment you enter the building, you will be wowed by the stunning design which is modern and clean. The paintings throughout the clinic is captivating. His staff members were all welcoming, professional and responsive to my questions. First, I was greeted by a sweet receptionist who was very welcoming. After waiting for a short time, another staff member took special photos with their equipment giving them a closer look into my skin. After the photos, Dr Swengel consulted with me. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, approachable and emphatic. He carefully listened to my concerns and did not give me any sales pitch. What impressed me the most is his no nonsense approach and ability to give me clear explanations on my skin condition and what will help me to improve my texture and scars. I was excited to do derma peel. He took his time to explain what it was and he did the peel with dedication. I was also appreciative that while I have very fair skin, he made a point to treat me as type 4 in the Fitzpatrick skin type. He is cautious and yet, he is able to tailor treatment plan that will work. I am very excited to share my journey on this platform as well as on social media. I am so grateful to have found RefinedMD! I had been treated 3X @ another dermatology practice (over a 4 mo period) for a very painful lip hematoma. Couldn't endure any more pain of eating & drinking w/this big sore bump on my bottom lip. So I did my due diligence, reading about the Drs/staff & pouring over tons of reviews for several dermatologists in the area. RefinedMD definitely rose to the top! Made an appt to see Alice (NP+ who is SO knowledgeable). On my 1st visit, after examining me, she brought in Dr Swengel. He was even better than I expected (so smart yet so empathetic & kind as well). He said a laser treatment would get rid of the hematoma, & did it right then. It scabbed just like he said it would, then was gone in 5 days! After 5 mo, it hasn't returned. Then I asked Alice several questions re: available treatments for my many very dark face & hand sun/age spots. She explained each treatment & made recommendations based on my skin/needs. I soon returned to start a series of BBL treatments w/Alice. She explained what would happen, as well as the aftercare procedure. She checked several times to make sure I was doing ok during the treatment (yes, BBL is very tolerable!). You wait 4-6wks between treatments, but I was AMAZED @ the astonishing results I saw within 2-3 wks. Look @ my before & after hand photos - it was totally new skin on the backs of both my hands! I'm hoping for good results as well on my facial BBL treatments. I can't recommend this office enough. Dr Swengel is THE best/tops in the dermatology field. Having work done by Alice, I can truly say she is a pro. They have a full staff including Dr Roy who does cosmetic surgery procedures. RefinedMD came highly recommended from two dear friends of mine. Hannah is, hands down, the best facial clinician I have experienced. She was able to make skin care and product recommendations, helped me learn how to best care for my skin, and she was very attentive to my individual concerns.
