I found this salon on Yelp and with good reviews I decided to call them. They were completely booked (always a good sign) except one opening 5 minutes from my call (maybe my stylist missed their lunch time today?). I was 7 minutes away and they told me that would be okay. I was happily greeted by Corey who turned out to be my hair stylist. I had an idea of how I wanted my hair but Corey really put the finishing touches on my thoughts based on the shape of my face, etc. She took her time with my cut. I never felt rushed and we had a great conversation as we went along. I really loved the end result and would return to this salon in the future. A couple of unique touches of the salon is the use of vintage makeup vanities which I absolutely loved. It seems like it gives each stylist their own unique touch and takes away the sterile copy cat stylist environment of some salons. Great experience today and I recommend them. Another lady was there getting her hair colored and then styled as I was leaving. She looked quite amazing, as well. It was nice to see the stylists not required to wear masks, also.

My 14-year old son got a haircut he was very disappointed with at a shop we've been going to since he was little. I won't say the name, because we still love these guys, we just needed a more trendy style instead of just an overall cut. It was ok when he was under 10, but now that he's older, his hair "style" is more important to him. It was time for a change. We went to see Jay at AB in south Cumming today for a "repair" cut. Although he didn't have a lot left to work with, he NAILED IT. He blended it beautifully, cleaned up the mistakes, and not only did he make a 14-year old more confident about his appearance and his Mama very happy, he didn't charge us for the cut. He fixed my son's hair and didn't charge us a dime to do it. Of course I tipped him, but I had to make him take it. Needless to say, I was in tears by the time I got into the car just a few feet from the shop. My son said "that dude's my homie". Jay is not only a master at what he does, but he is an absolute sweetheart and all around good guy. All he said as we were leaving was "come back and see me in a month when it grows out a little...I'll take care of you." I also showed him a picture of my 11-year old who has more of a shaggy style, and he said he could handle that too. You have two new customers for life Jay. Thank you...from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Also, the managers and staff could not have been nicer or more friendly, and the atmosphere is very hip and comfortable. You guys rock! We will definitely see you again soon! read more

I've been getting my Haircut every 3 weeks at the same place for years. I had an important event and needed a Haircut one day on the fly. I was in close proximity to American Barber Shop so I called up, they told me sure come on in, we've got you covered. I get there and was greeted with smiles and that Steve would be working with me. The ambiance was really cool, good energy and not that typical cocky arrogant vibe that sometimes you find in South Georgia shops. The process of getting a Haircut a bit stressful and annoying because most Barber Shops in my opinion don't listen they'll ask you how you want your Haircut and then do there own thing. Steve seemed genuinely interested in listening and then gave some suggestions that worked out really well. I even got a shave that was relaxing and saved me time. I loved my new fresh Haircut, and have been telling friends in the area that it's a must to give it a try and ask for Steve because he knows what's up. Overall great ambiance, chill vibe and a staff that cares about the experience you have. Thanks American Barber Shop thanks Steve. Good prices too!! read more

Being new in town, I had been looking for a quality place to get a haircut without paying salon prices. This shop more than fits the bill. For under $20, I received the full treatment--hot towel on the face, straight blade on the neck and sideburns, etc. Plus, the staff is friendly and the cut looks great. People had been recommending this shop's other location--Alpharetta Barber Shop--but I never had occasion to make it down to Exit 11. Luckily this branch opened six weeks ago and is much more convenient for me. It's across from the Avenue at Exit 13. I will definitely be going back to visit Choman and company. UPDATE: I went back on Monday (7 weeks after initial visit) and had a different barber. I cannot remember the gentleman's name, but I received another excellent haircut. There's nothing better than a hot towel on the face after a haircut. I also found out that their busy times are on the weekends, but there's hardly ever a wait on weekdays. They close at 6pm most days, so it's a little hard to come after work, so this may explain why all the business gears toward weekends. read more

I just got my hair cut here for the first time, and the experience was outstanding. I was a walk-in customer about fifteen minutes after they opened. My wait time was around ten minutes, but I didn't mind as this place is comfortable. David cut my hair, and he was thorough and personable. He asked questions about each part of the process to make sure I got the cut I wanted. He finished off with a shave on the back of my neck and a hot towel. I'm a bit of a shaving product junkie. It was nice to see that they carry a good assortment of razors, blades, brushes, creams, and soaps. They also have American Crew hair products, which I use. The price is less than I've paid at other places, but the service was double what I've received elsewhere. This will now be my regular barber. read more

I had a barber in Alpharetta years ago that I liked very much but it got to be too far to travel now that I don't work in that area. I've not found anyone in that league until I tried this shop. On my first visit I got Farzin. He did such an excellent job I asked for him the next time. I've now had my hair cut by him three times and he's consistently provided top notch service. I only need to give him a couple basic instructions about how I want my hair cut and he knows exactly what to do. One side of my hair is hard to layer properly and if it's not done well it will start sticking up before the next cut. Farzin is one of the few barbers I've used who know how to deal with that. He's is my go-to guy for haircuts now. read more

I finally found a men's barber shop that is opened on Sunday. It is American Barber Shop on 141 Peachtree Pkwy. I can get a shave and a haircut on my only day off and go back to work on Monday looking great. This is an old school men's barber like I remember from when I was young. I doubt there is another place in Cumming like this place. They are professional men's barbers that know what a man wants. They give a wet shave or even a royal shave if you want. They still use scissors and a razor to clean up your neck. A little splash of conditioner and you are feeling like a new man. read more
