For the longest time, I would decide between getting underwhelmed by nearby Rooster's or driving all the way into Atlanta to go to Inman Parlor only... to get underwhelmed also a lot and then annoyed that I drove into Atlanta. Schedule your haircut easily through Yelp. Alison still has a message requesting that you mask up, but you can disregard this. It was up during the height of the pandemic, and she doesn't know how to take it down. I finally searched for skin fade on Yelp, and that was the magic that helped me find Alison. So, that is what I also shall mention in my review. Alison's little shop is inside of Sola Salons. It's at the opposite end of that shopping center with Publix. It's easy enough to navigate, and Alison will also provide directions. The haircut and conversation were both great. That's a surprisingly rare combination in an industry that values both. Outside of doing an incredible job executing on my cut, she gave me an excellent recommendation for lobster rolls. First, understand that Alison is not a beautician who cuts men's hair. She is a trained BARBER! She has given me without a doubt the best haircuts I have had in years, shaped, sculpted, and fit for my face. The back of my neck and sideburns are shaved, not clipped...beauticians are not even allowed to do that. I'm old enough to remember when a visit to the barber was a pleasant event with warm scented towels and a great shampoo. All that happens here just like years ago, plus something that those old time barber guys never did...a comfortable neck and shoulder massage. Her prices are very reasonable, her shop is clean, and Alison's personality alone justifies the visit. I'm not a personal friend trying to game these reviews, or a member of her family. I'm just a customer who is amazed that this quality of service is available in these days when you would think it was gone forever. Check out this shop. The quality of the services she provides is remarkable. The haircut that you ask for will when you sit down will be exactly what you end up walking away with. During your visit to the shop Alison will offer you a beverage of your choice, skillfully perform whichever service(s) you've requested, and keep you entertained and engaged in wonderful conversation throughout. Alison herself is a sweet, bubbly, genuine, all around fantastic individual who will make you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. I'm going to echo a lot of what others have said but that's because it's all true! I'm picky when it comes to who cuts my hair, and when I started going to Alison before she opened her own place I knew I had found an excellent barber. And since she's opened her own shop, she's really been able to tailor the experience to exactly how she wants it, and when I say experience, that's exactly what it is. The haircut is top notch, I never have to tell her what I need done, she just remembers and cuts it exactly how I would've asked for it, every, single, time. It's never rushed, or at least I never feel that way, and she is focused, meticulous, and really loves her craft. She's a barber who can carry a conversation, and actually gets to know you, which really is the other half of why you would go to the same barber over and over. You don't feel like just another client here, which you can't say much these days. I've moved further away from her shop since I've been going to her, but I tell you it's worth the drive every time. I stumbled upon Alison back when she was employed at Roosters. I still go get my hair cut with her now that she has her own shop, because she is one of the few that knows how to do a "flat top" properly. Her location allows more one-to-one personal attention, and comfort. It's awkward trying to converse with your barber if they are sharing space with others, as everyone else is listening. Her shop is very clean, comfy, and personal. She always offers me a drink when I get there, and one before leaving, and is one of the few barbers that will give you a nice neck and shoulder rub after your hair cut. read more
