I can't say enough about Wes Reese and the North Carolina Concealed Carry certification course offered through Reese Firearms. Being both a veteran and someone that had previously gone through concealed carry certification in another state, you can imagine how excited I was NOT to sit through more fairly basic-level training. I couldn't have been more wrong. Wes is one of the most knowledgeable individuals you will ever meet when it comes to firearms and the relevant NC laws. Additionally, he makes some otherwise dry material interesting and funny, and is very engaging with the class. The videos Wes used to supplement the material were mostly funny, but were very relevant to the subject matter and the humor just made the material all the more memorable. Pizza lunch was delivered by Pizza Hut at 11:15 and Wes just kept rolling through the material while we ate. Shortly after lunch, a guest speaker from US Defense Shield spoke to the class about carrying legal protection in the event you ever find yourself in a self-defense situation, firearm or not, and how you plan to defend yourself criminally and civilly after the fact (because you will have to regardless of what happened, and how). Once again, very thought provoking, and not something most folks consider. The classroom portion is located in Kernersville and the range is in Thomasville, approximately 25-30 minutes away with light traffic. I didn't realize this until I received the confirmation e-mail after I registered, but it wasn't a big deal for me. If that matters to you, don't forget to plan ahead. Range qualification was quick and efficient and the class was dismissed from the range while anyone that wanted to stick around to shoot Wes's arsenal was welcomed. Either way, you leave the range that day with your certificate in hand, ready to join the world as the next concealed carriers (as soon as your local Sheriff approves your application). If you live in or anywhere remotely near the Triad Area, and are considering concealed carry training, there's just no better option than Wes Reese and Reese Firearms. read more

First, let me say that I am new to guns. Meaning, I have only shot a gun a few times before taking this class. Mr. Wes was an AMAZING instructor! I signed up for the Women's Carry Conceal Class. He was fun and engaging. The class included lunch. He allowed you to qualify with his guns and ammo for an extra charge or you can bring your own. I felt very prepared by the end of the class. My husband and I attended a CC class this Sunday. Wes was a great and entertaining instructor who kept class fun. He was very insightful and knowledgeable about the laws. We learned a great deal and time went by very fast in class. They had a special going on so the price was only $70 instead of $80. The only downside is that you have to travel about 30 mins out to the range in Thomasville. This was about 45 minutes away from our home so we could not stay after class and shoot some of the other guns because we needed to get home. Overall, we both really enjoyed the class. Wes is professional and fun. Highly recommend. We will definitely take another class. read more

Great class, was entertaining and educational. Instructor answered any questions we had and was very nice. I didn't like the firing range we went to. I would have rather been at an indoor range. We tested out in the pouring rain. Although he did give us the option to come back another weekend and qualify but i really didn't want to have to come back another week. But I still didn't really like the range. I understand why we had to use that one though. Class had 35 people or so in it. Also another con, a little too crowded and only one bathroom. overall it was a great experience though. If I were you I would pick this class over other ones available. read more

I moved to NC from a part of the country where a less burdensome concealed carry licensing(now constitutional carry) is the norm. If, grudgingly be compelled to take a course to exercise ones right, this is the way you want to do it. Wes made the class interesting. He artfully was able to engage both novice and seasoned LTC candidates. The curriculum was informative, & interactive. The facilities at both the classroom were comfortable and well maintained. The practical test is done with his supplied 22LR pistols. These were well maintained, & he explained functions clearly to the students. After the practical he offered use of weapons in 22lr, 38sp, .380 9mm 45acp & 45lc/.410. Most of these calibers were offered in several different manufacturers. He supplied the ammunition as well. This was INCLUDED in the class cost. This allowed newbies to handle and fire many different sizes. It allowed me to shoot a .410 revolver, which I have never done. If done at a private range, this would cost much more than the class costs alone. As a amateur competitive pistol and rifle shooter, I am always very weary of newbies at a range. Wes was fully in control, more so than many range masters I have seen(without being ornery which many are). I am glad a co-worker referred me. You will offer referrals on this as well, after you take it. read more

Wes put on a great conceal carry class. I recommend this class for anyone looking for there CCH permit. Even if you don't plan to carry its a great way to avoid the inconvenience of always having to apply for a permit. I even recommended this class for someone who has no desire to shoot or ever own a gun because it teaches you gun safety and helps explain the laws permit holders follow (piece of mind and understanding of the why). This is a very informative class and Wes does a great job of making you feel comfortable and keeping your attention. You can research all you want about cost and what's included (which this was hands down the best deal I found for complete value) but always remember the instructors make the class! On top of being inexpensive, all inclusive (I mean all inclusive), free lunch, you get to shoot different caliper guns after (if you want) and several different models (sub compact, compact, different brands) including the The Judge 410.
