Captain B was excellent from the minute we got on the boat to when we disembarked.. a true pro with 33 years experience he said. We had beautiful weather and started out going for King Salmon with down riggers. The Deckhand Randy was also good and started out by stating he had "Saved 8 men overboard" & "I got the biggest balls in Homer". We started catching right away and Captain B would come down to net the bigger fish and mutter "Randy.. your a disaster today" I think it was all part of the act! We caught the KING limit and silver limit in no time without losing many fish at all.. maybe it was the walking stick?? Captain B then took us to a beautiful cove.. complete with a BAR to finish the day fishing for Rockfish! After about an hour we had the limit in Rocks and headed to the bar but the Captain couldn't find it? Nice ride in watching Randy filet all the fish! Great charter/ great time.. highly recommend. This may apply for all Homer charters, but it is probably worth checking. What was also frustrating is that about nine salmon were hooked but only three landed onto the boat, every time we were told what we had done incorrectly after the fish was lost rather than before the fish was hooked.

On our way out Captain Will briefed us, I sat up there to ask questions to see how I can up our odds of catching. I really wanted my kids and wife to catch. Will was very confident we will have a great time. Well I'll just put it this way. He went way above and beyond. The first 10 minutes lines were in the water we were already bent. 100lb halibut, yellow eyes, more halibut and even big lingcod are coming in. All fricken day. What a great time. We charted a boat to do some halibut fishing in Homer with Alaska Coastal Marine. Homer is known as…read morethe Halibut fishing capital of the world and a big destination for outdoor enthusiasts. They are located directly on the Homer Spit. Some of the tours that Alaska Coastal Marine offers are sightseeing and guided fishing tours. Fishing charter packages include half or full days of halibut-only fishing or combo packages with multiple species included like rockfish and salmon. We booked a half day Halibut charter on the Foxfire. We probably spend about six hours out on the ocean. Everything we needed to fish including bait was provided on the boat. Half day charters leave Homer twice daily. We did have a few guys get sea sick as the ride out was bumpy from the choppy waters. But we had a good time and caught a lot of fish. The guides were great and helpful in getting us as much fish as we could until we reached our limit. They even cut up our fish on the way back. Overall, our time with Alaska Coastal Marine and on the Foxfire was a blast. The Homer Spit is a great place to shop and grab a bite to eat after your chartered boat tour. There are places around town that will process and vacuum seal your fish for shipping if needed.

This really sucks because it's a 2 hour journey to the fishing area, 2 hour fishing and 2 hours back with no seat. At $185 for 1/2 day a pop I'd expect it comes with a seat. We had a 6 year old who didn't have a seat and we somehow had him propped sitting on someone's cooler. We later discovered there were seats that had life vests placed there. Nobody was offered a life vest except children. Instead the vests were nicely seated where we could have sat. The workers didn't seem to offer or take notice. There were 3 workers on the boat with maybe 20 people fishing, and it was a wait for getting help with bait or lines getting snagged with others. Too much demand not enough supply. I guess this is where they make money on cutting costs for staff and loading up boats. Money hungry charter business. Since we were outside of the boat we saw them filet our fish and placed them in bags, BUT we noticed they take one filet from each fish and put it in a separate bucket. Now that's pretty shady, hence the reason for 1 star. Not only do they take a filet from each fish but the big piece! How scandalous is that?! I asked my brother if this is a common thing with charters and he said they didn't do that with a previous charter he went with. I mean seriously people if you decide to use this charter check if they do this with your fish! Yes we all caught our limit but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone...not even my enemies.

Brad knew the names of all the beautiful volcanoes in the Aleutian range looming in the distance. We caught a lot of Halibut! The boat was pretty deluxe. I wanted to live on it. Brad filet'd the fish on the way back, and a fish processing boy was waiting for us at the dock. Getting the fish vacuum-sealed and frozen was a cinch! I'd definitely fish with Silver Fox again!

He got us on the fish right away and filled us in with local knowledge, stories, etc. the guy busted is ass for us all day including cleaning and packing up or fish. Top notch. The place is close to the launch, which is an experience in itself. It's the only place I've seen boats get launched via tractors on the beach. He Cook Inlet has a million halibut charters and I'm sure most are fine. If you want to take away the guessing game, go with these guys.

You Wont be Disappointed!…read more Our group of 6 made a last minute reservation for a halibut charter for 6/24/2019. Mary was able to put us on The Redemer with Cpt Eric. A glorious day of fishing. The boat is BIG, COMFORTABLE, made with Fishing in Mind, Fast and has all the comforts for any fisherman/fisherwoman. Excellent Equipment, plenty of good bait available, room to move about on the deck, inside table to relax at for lunch or to rest the tired arms and back from catching so many halibut. Our group limited out. Day 1 - We had a 90lb, a 50lb, and 30lbers for our bigs. Had a heck of a time catching the required small ones as the ones we kept bringing up were too big. " A problem that kept me smiling all day" We enjoyed it so much that we re-booked for Thursday 6/27/2019, again with Cpt Eric. Again we did well. With 4 in our group we took an 80lber, a 60lber, and two 40 lbers as our bigs.( Which is rare if you have chartered in this area before, usually you end up with 20-25 lbers) You cannot beat the price or experience. We even had a minke whale say hello to us less than 20' from the boat. Super Cool experience to add to the day. Cpt Eric is a consummate professional, knows his stuff, helps everyone who needs it, and doesn't mind untangling your lines. ( at least he smiled while unwrapping our lines) The whole process of chartering 2 different size groups for 2 different days was made super easy by Mary. One call did it all. Payment is cash or charge card, finding the meet up location was a breeze, having our fish cleaned and then taken next door to Tanners for vac sealing and flash freezing made this year's Halibut trip A+++++. After 20+ years of looking for a halibut charter I can come back to year after year, I have to admit, I think I have found my new home for years to come.
