Quickest way to get your Alaska Halibut. One hour boat ride to fishing grounds. Leave at 8am you'll be back by noon. We were transported by a captain who got us fish efficiently. I would not call him a "guide". His people skills are sorely lacking, if I was boss I wouldn't put him in front of a paying tourist. Deckhand Jacob was great: good luck in your career! Captain Kyle and deckhand Noah did a fantastic job on our charter. We were accompanied by 2 other fishermen, bringing the total guest count to 6. The boat serves its purpose, had a flushing toilet and was just enough room for us all to have a pole. The staff is very knowledgeable pertaining to fishing and the fish itself. We had all of our fish filleted, 6 pounds for us to eat during the rest of vacation, 43 to vacuum seal and ship back to the lower 48. Highly recommend! read more

We went halibut fishing this morning with Captain Seth and deckhand Michelle. Our group of 7 had an awesome time! Captain Seth took us to the perfect fishing spot where everyone ended up catching their limit within 3 hours. They were quick setting everything up, getting our lines in the water, keeping fresh bait on and even helped us weaklings hold our fishing poles while we reeled the fish in. When we returned to shore they had our fish filleted in no time. If you're looking for lodging we would highly recommend staying with them. We rented a nice cabin the night before our charter and all we had to do is walk out the front door and check-in at the campground office. It was truly a pleasure fishing and lodging with Afishunt Charters. read more

We went fishing at Kasilof River with Brian Kyncy on 09/29/15. He knew exactly where to take us and we reached our limit for the day in just a few hours in just one hole. He was very patient in putting fresh bait on our fishing lines. He told us proper techniques how to fish for salmon since fishing for them is so different from fishing on the Gulf of Mexico in FL where we are so use to :) on our way back to the boat ramp, Brian told stories and facts about the things we saw at the river banks. Our salmon was shipped to Florida expedited by Felicia. She was on top of things and kept us informed of the shipment. I did not go on this fishing trip but my niece, her husband, 2 boys ages 8 and 9, plus my nephew and brother in law. July 2018. It was booked via Kenai Magic Lodge and since they were departing out of Ninilchik the boat ride was not as long. My family told me the crew was not that friendly but very serious about helping all and getting the fish into the boat. They knew they were not fishing for barn doors but were very happy my nephew caught the fish halibut that was around 60lbs. They all caught their limits and shipped several lbs home. They only wanted a half day and got more time so everyone had a chance to catch their limit. They were satisfied on their day. Only my brother in law got sick and he has boated most of his life, some in the Atlantic. read more

Ask for Captain Seth. He is the best! We were a bit early for the king salmon and the halibut but everybody in the boat got their under and over fish. We will come back in July when the halibut is bigger. We stayed in their cabin which was fully equipped with kitchen and a bathroom. Did not have issues with hot water. Our stay was very comfortable. They lent us a couple of grills. We brought steaks with us the night before fishing day and they gave us extra linens and pillows. 8 people could sleep comfortably in cabin. There's a queen sized bed in the bedroom, a full or queen sized mattress and two twins up on the loft and the sofa opens up to a full size bed. Pots, pans, plates, knives, coffeemaker, wine glasses, we had everything we needed. The rv resort is also a walking distance to Ninilchik View Campground. They have beach access. As far as the fishing goes, Captain Seth was a PRO! He knew where exactly the halibut and was always operating the boat safely. Cody, his sidekick was very attentive to his orders and they worked well together. Captain Seth also filet our fish. I highly recommend this company. They have been doing it for 23 years! And oh, please take down Dramamine the night before and during your trip. I was vomiting for 8 hours but I still got my fish while vomiting so it was worth it haha All read more

I've been on three halibut charters now and I would rank this one in the middle. The crew is professional but not fun. They go to a spot that gets everyone 2 fish but no big fish. Other boats the captain is loud and telling crazy stories so we are entertained between bites. Not the case on this boat. Also you pay the same here for a half day that you pay in homer where you can get the big ones and do a full day on the water. Also, on other charters, if everyone limits out quickly they will let you fish for other species. Not the case here. So if you just want a boring charter and don't mind small fish this would be a great trip and you still have more than half a day left after you finish fishing. We got back to camp by 10am. The campground is nice. No view but it's well kept. read more

Let's start with things out of their control....the weather was fabulous with terrific seas. The boat we went out on was the Exciter. The Capt. John had been in the business for 30 years but have as much attention to details as if it were his first day. He was careful to explain safety information as well as helpful hints to both the novice like me and the more experienced fishermen among us. The mates were so very helpful and yet careful to make sure they were not doing anything that would spoil the thrill of landing a big halibut. Thanks guys. Originally, our trip was to include 2 nights here, and 3 nights in Homer. When we got to Homer, we cancelled the last two nights of our stay, and came back to Afishunt Charters and Alaskan Angler Resort. Everyone here is super friendly and professional. We took 2 fishing charters with Captain Seth and Nathaniel, and both days were outstanding. They really love what they do, and it shows throughout every aspect of the day! The the new owner, and all of the staff, went out of their way to accommodate our large group, and help with things that we would not have ever expected. They really went out of their way to make our trip a very special one. You cannot go wrong here! We will definitely go back, and look forward to it! read more

Awesome fishing charter! Highly recommend! We had Captain Seth and deckhand Nathaniel. Great crew! Very helpful, organized, patient, friendly, professional, and it was all of our first times going out and they made us feel comfortable. The cabin we rented was excellent, fully stocked and super clean. Very pleased with this charter all the way around! They took us out to great spots that no one was in, and we pretty much caught as soon as we dropped lines in the water. The only thing that could have been better was the weather, but despite the rain...everything was still great. The crew quickly hung up and filleted our fish when we got in. We all caught our limits and had a wonderful experience!! read more

Awesome time. Four of us went out on a halibut charter with Aurthur and Erin in July for a morning trip out of Ninilchik. The water was a little rough that day, but we still had a great time. Artie & Erin were patient with everyone as there were clearly different levels of experience between the 8 people out on the boat that day. Everyone who wanted to caught there limit that day and both Artie & Erin had great advice as far as keeping and throwing back the various sizes of the fish we caught. The fishing was a little tough that day and some of the boats that went out didn't catch very many fish. We were having trouble catching our limit so both Artie & Erin kicked it into overdrive and started hitting different spots and kept polls baited for those of us that were still fishing. When we got back they fileted the fish for us and I had mine vacuum packed & shipped back to me in California all for around $100 for 40+ pounds of meat. Had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to reccomend it to anyone that asked. Go and have fun enjoying the water & sights of Alaska. read more

My husband and I recently went out on a Halibut charter with Afishunt charters. There were 8 of us fishing, which compared to every other boat, was 2 too many. 'Captain' Kenny told us from the get go that the weather was rapidly changing for the worse so we would have to go in soon. We were basically in a rush to get our limit of 2 halibut per person. One man who had been out several times with this outfit already, kept throwing them back so he could catch 'the big one'. He was the only one left with a fish to catch and even then kept throwing them back. The captain, and I do use this term loosely, let him do this repeatedly while the other 7 people waited for over an hour. The captain should have stopped this. We paid excellent money for a short fishing trip, a lousy captain, not much better crew and we feel we definitely DID NOT get our moneys worth. Bypass this place if you want a good fishing adventure. read more

Just went on a Halibut charter this morning with Captain Seth and Deckhand AJ. 3 of us and 3 others. Weather was pretty decent. Capt Seth got us out and to a spot with very few others nearby. I personally got my 2 limit in a bit over an hour including the biggest fish of the day for our charter. Everyone got theirs, several tossing fish back looking for a bigger catch. Lots of fun, lots of yummie Halibut going back to SoCal with us. Great experience fun times. Thanks to Afishunt but especially Seth and AJ for a great time. Highly recommend this Charter!! read more
