Brian has been servicing our tank for the last 7 years. Having worked with multiple companies I can easily say Brian's quality of work surpasses any other company we have worked with in the past.. looking at the pictures of our tank should speak for this review.

Here's my beginner tank that he's helping me get to where it needs to be.

Brian was so incredibly helpful and spent so much time with me answering my MANY questions. He was so prof and KNEW so much. He was all about utilizing what I had and gave me an amazing game plan I'm so glad I found Reef Mechanics! 10/10 would recommend! I had a tank already started and he came by and was so helpful. I'm so thankful!

I had him tank sit my 28 gallon and when I got it back it had a new frag of zoas! You can see them in this pic, Pretty stoked about it!

Brian successfully integrated the new tank, coral, and new fish with my original fish, and they all flourished.

Ken will talk to you up and down your property about what he recommends and how to ensure your pond is as happy as possible without taking a penny from you. Every single recommendation he has given has been 1000x worth the effort and cost to do. Really a great person who you can tell just wants to make sure the customer is right. He even has great referrals if he isn't the person to do the job.

The previous company we hired struggled for a year before giving up entirely and recommended that we contact Ken at SCALS. Honestly, I was ready to give up on the whole thing. Ken came in, spent two hours talking through everything, and it was clear right away that he knew his stuff. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable, but he's also just a genuinely great guy. Fast forward to today, and our saltwater tank has been running beautifully for over a decade! The transformation has been incredible. SCALS is a family-owned business, and it's clear that they care about their customers. Their staff is professional, and it's reassuring to know that they handle everything in-house with their own trained technicians. If you're looking for quality, reliability, and peace of mind with your water features or aquarium, I highly recommend SCALS. Just awesome!

Their pricing was one of the main reasons we chose them--the quoted $129 felt like a good value compared to other groomers. Booking was easy, and they let us know ahead of time that because they're solar-powered and we were the last appointment of the day, they'd need to use our home's electricity. It was an unusual request, but we agreed. Unfortunately, the experience didn't match the expectations. The groomer arrived late due to issues with earlier appointments, which disrupted our afternoon. Once they arrived, getting our dog into the mobile unit was simple, and while he was understandably a little anxious with a new groomer and a new environment, nothing about his behavior was outside the norm. When the service was done, we were surprised to have the total was $170 instead of the quoted $129. An unexpected $30 "handling fee" was added, which didn't feel warranted. The groomer even mentioned he had video proof that our dog was "hard to work with," which made the interaction feel overly transactional rather than understanding. Given that they were late and used our electricity, the upcharges felt like bad business practice and made the originally attractive pricing feel misleading. On top of that, our dog was returned completely damp. The groomer towel-dried instead of using a dryer, and as a result, our dog smelled like damp fur--not even the scent of shampoo--for the rest of the day. Overall, the combination of lateness, unclear pricing, added fees, and the quality of the grooming left us disappointed. We had hoped for a better experience, but based on this visit, we'd recommend looking elsewhere
