Previously had a great experience with Reed's Autobody but my recent visits were not so impressive! I understand pearl white is difficult to match but 3 separate tries and they still cant even come close. 1st time it was orange peel and paint boogers, second time orange peel was resolved but where the paint boogers were sanded off it left little spots in the paint, 3rd time all of that was addressed but now the bumper does not match the rest of the car.... Because my insurance doesn't cover "blending" they have now told me to go else where. So my only warning is do not go through Mercury Ins and do not expect a well know autobody and paint company to match a pearl white paint. read more

I've always heard great things about Reed's Auto Body. I was informed by many if you have a classic car that needs body work, Reed's is the place to take it to. My car was recently hit by an RV, so I immediately took it to Reeds to get an estimate on repairs. While an employee was collecting the photos of the damage DOUG informed him to stop as he DOUG would not accept the job. DOUG entered the building flustered and disheveled to inform me the damage was extensive and would cost in excess of 20k to repair. I informed him the car had full coverage and the price would not be an issue, to which he responded, "We build million dollar vehicles here, we don't have time for that." I explained to DOUG I was at his establishment trying to give him my business, to which he responded, "And I'm telling you to go somewhere else with that." I want to say that Reeds is an awesome Auto Body Shop. Our 2017 Ford F150 got hit by some jerk in a parking lot, then he took off. We were very upset, and having difficulty finding a body shop in Redding that could work on Aluminum. We initially drove to Chico and found a shop there, but an hour plus drive, and the logistics of making it work proved to be too much. I called a friend that is in the Auto Business and he sent us up to Reeds, near Hwy 44 and Airport Road. They gave a quick estimate and advised that they could bill our insurance company directly. So, we decided to move forward. I dropped the truck off at Reeds and was told that it would take a couple of weeks to get this done, due to the complexity. I was pleasantly surprised that they had this thing done in under a week. Even better was that I could not even tell that this thing was damaged. The other body shops told us that rivets would be visible between the bed and the cab where the would have to attach the side panel of aluminum. The work from Reeds had no such Rivets. The work was flawless! When we came to pick up the truck, the owner of the shop came out and showed us the repairs, and explained everything that was done in great detail. They really went above and beyond on this job, they completely detailed and waxed the vehicle before they released it back to us. I found the owner and his staff to be very down to earth, and easy to deal with. read more

Matt the estimator was a total bully, rude and very disrespectful. He added things on my estimate that did not happen in the damaged area. As tried to point this out to him, he then said to me "well that's what it's gonna cost to fix your car, and then he said well, that's in in there because that's part of your damage, and when I tried to explain that was there prior and not part of this claim he told me "are you an estimatoe or do you know what you're doing? You're not an estimator if cars are you trying to tell me how to do my job? It was a very poor display of professionalism and the lack thereof, and I feel sorry for the owner, and I will be speaking what him directly. read more

Minor repair work required. Reed's recommended by insurance. Inquired about having them detail my car and then splurged for an expensive high-end comprehensive detail job. Detail job was definitely did not meet the expectations they established but they redid it without hesitation and now I feel I probably got two $100 detail jobs for the $250 bucks I spent. Had to have paint job redone after six months. Again Reeds redid without hesitation. One of their employees even apologized for the inconvenience (rare these days). Kim, the manager personally followed up to confirm that everything was handled right. Offered to redo again if it wasn't. In my personal experience the quality of Reeds' detail work was exaggerated and therefore over-priced, but their body work is acceptable... assuming the paint job doesn't need to be fixed again. I'm bumping them from a one star to three because they really do want to make things right.... even if it takes a few times. read more

Everyone at Reed's that I dealt with explained everything in detail, and filled me in so I would know what to expect. Had a 2011 Toyota Tacoma that was involved in a 2 mph bumper to bumper. These plastic bodies are so fragile. Insurance picked up about 2/3 of the cost with the deductible. Picked it up today (6 days earlier then estimated) and the front end looks awesome. They even fixed a couple of dings on the doors and repainted. I HIGHLY recommend these folks for auto body work. I spun out in the rain on i5 about 40 miles north of Redding. The tow truck driver recommended Reed's. The staff here is wonderful. They fed me soup (I hadn't eaten) and kept me company while I dealt with insurance and rental car agencies (everyone was booked for the holiday). When I had gotten my stuff from the car, they gave me a ride to the bus station in downtown Redding. After one of the largest dealerships in redding put swirl marks in my paint. They decided to send it to Doug reed auto body to fix it. I was already feeling that I would rather have a more larger more established business do the work. I figured they are just buffing it so even the most newest rookie body shop tech could pull this off. Well apparently everyone was wrong! Not only did they not take out the swirl marks!!!! They added giant buff marks across the whole car!!! Seriously how do you own a body shop and not know how to buff a car? Completely ruined paint job! Then told me he would not fix his mistake! I would never take a vehicle to that place ever! There are lots of qualified body shops in town, this is not one of them! Just picked up my Kia Soul at Reed's and am very pleased with the work they did. All the damage is gone and my car is the cleanest it has been since it left the Kia dealer's lot in 2014. They got the work done more quickly than they estimated which saved me on the rental car. I sent my C6 Corvette there after getting in an accident on the freeway and let me tell you I don't think I'd ever take my car anywhere else. They respond fast they've been very easy to work with. Angela answer's the phone with a nice greeting and is always willing to help. Matt is who I've been dealing with via phone and email to make sure the right parts are ordered and we're all on the same page on repairs. Doug (the owner) has been more than a pleasure to work with. He's made sure to stay in contact the entire time and make sure I'm happy with the product I'm getting as well as going above and beyond on a few pieces on my car that he just wanted to leave his shop looking perfect that he didn't have to do. Obviously this operation doesn't happen with just these 3 people but I've been very pleased working with them. I'm giving them 2 stars because I feel bad for the shop side, otherwise I would give them 1 star. I can't speak of their work but their customer service needs some major work. I was told that I could bring my vehicle down and have an appraisal within 30 minutes. My husband took the truck down. We needed the appraisal of repairs quickly because we had already taken the truck to a different auto repair shop that didn't follow through with the appraisal. We had to have it to the DA that day in order to get restitution on the vehicle. When I called initially I was so relived they could get us in quickly and get the report back so soon. I was surprised when my husband came home without it. My husband called to see when the appraisal might be done, the girl said there was no time frame she could give him but they would call when it was done. I spoke with her and explained the situation and she was rude with me and said I have to wait my turn and would offer no information. I spoke to the DAs office and they said they would give us until 3:00 the next day so that morning I called back again. It was apparent that they already knew who I was and at this point were just being spiteful. They would give me no information and again were very rude about it. At 2:00, knowing that I would be treated poorly, I asked my husband if he would call. He was so stressed over the situation he couldn't. Bracing to be treated like an annoying inconvenience I called back again because the cut off was at 3:00. I was treated like I thought I would have been. We finally came to the conclusion that we weren't going to get the appraisal to the DA's office. Reed's took an already stressful situation and and made it 10 times more stressful. Don't tell people that you will do something and then not do it. If you can't do it, at least have some compassion and tell them rather than stringing people along. We definitely will not be hiring Reeds to do the work on our vehicle. We eventually got the appraisal back at 4:40 that evening. They did not call us like they said they would. I was standing in front of the DAs office at this time and could have brought it to them and hoped for the best but I didn't see the email until after we left and the DAs office was closed. I took my brand new 2015 Volkswagen Touareg TDI to Reeds to repair my slightly damaged driver side rear door after a senior citizen in town backed into it while I was waiting in drive through line at Starbucks. They gave me a estimate then ordered parts and I took it in to have it repaired, I picked it up a few days later and noticed tape marks on the repaired door and new door handle. The door handle also doesn't quite operate as nicely as the original one it is a little sloppy and I'm not sure if it's OEM replacement. I also noticed months later that the lower door panel on the door had not been placed on car correctly, I tried putting it back my self but was unsure of correct process as to not damage something else in the effort. What pisses me off is I don't have time to screw around taking it back to have them get it right. I just think their fit and finish quality is not there and there. I will not return has a customer in the future after taking three vehicles to them in the past. read more
