I purchased a 2016 Maxima Platinum, certified pre-owned from Reed Nissan, Orlando, FL. Upon leaving the dealer with my purchased vehicle, I noticed the back passenger door was off the hinge and did not close properly. I took the car back to the dealer to get fix. I later noticed the trim around the audio popped out and was able to put back in place. I also found that the fog light was not installed correctly, not secured properly, which leads me to thinking this car had undisclosed issues.
Shortly thereafter, while driving, the bottom guard came apart and was dragging on the road. I was not far from the dealer and drove the car back to them. Luckily it was me driving and not my wife when this occurred. I asked the dealer to take the car back as it's a certified pre-owned and should not have these issues. The Manager accused us of hitting something or running over something and did not take ownership that this issue was pre-existing. I was told that they will fix but I cannot return the car. At the same time, I asked for a loaner car and was told this issue does not qualify for a loaner, that I can drive it the way it is and bring back the next day for repair. I was asked if I don't have a second vehicle. I told the Manager I do, but I go to work and my wife needs her vehicle for work also. After pressing the issue of having the guard taken care of, they were able to remove the guard so we can continue to use the car and bring back another day for repair. After we went home that same day, I looked under the car and noticed that the tabs underneath were previously broken off and there were scuff marks/spray paint which was a different color than original. This leads me more to believe the car had issues. I decided not to continue ownership because I don't know what else can go wrong, especially since these items occurred within a month of purchase and again, nothing was disclosed upfront.
Two days later, I took the car back for the guard to be replaced. Upon looking underneath, I noticed the guards were held in place by zip ties, not tabs, and was not told that they were placing zip ties to hold in place. This infuriated me as this is a certified pre-owned vehicle and should not have these issues if it properly went through the 167 Point Inspection, as per Reed Nissan advertisement. Again, we asked Reed Nissan to take this vehicle back because of the issues showing up within this short time, and they kept insisting that they cannot take the car back. They said I bought a vehicle and things happen, it's all on me because after I purchase the vehicle, it has nothing to do with them. I totally disagree with that comment.
A week later, I went back to Reed Nissan to return this car and undo this deal, start over from scratch. We were told this is something they cannot do, and that the vehicle is mine after purchase. After going back and forth with the Manager, they were not willing to take ownership of selling me a vehicle that had issues turning up. We were told that the best option is to trade out the vehicle, which we purchased a new 2017 Maxima SR. However, this puts me in a loss-loss situation as I am now losing on a trade, instead of undoing the deal and start from scratch. Reed Nissan was not willing to trade the car for the purchased amount, especially since it was a little over month where theses issues turned up. I feel I was sold a car that Reed Nissan claims went through the certified checklist (167 Point Inspection) but based on my experience, most likely the inspection was not thorough. It's not my fault that I purchased a vehicle with issues, and now have to take a loss at the trade in value.
My overall experience was poor, made numerous visits to Reed Nissan, spent long hours to work through a resolution which is still pending. Over the numerous visits, while waiting, I overheard other customers complaining about poor service and not satisfied with their experience. Sadly, I am now one of those unsatisfied customer.
I am still pursing a resolution for the trade out value of the deal, my inconvenience and safety concerns this has caused and have been overly patient and professional throughout this process. I am patiently following the protocol of going through their chain of command for escalation. Throughout this experience, I have yet to receive a follow up phone call from Reed Nissan. read more
