Danilo explained the whole process that was going to happen. Dr. Kirchart is an excellent doctor. She's so knowledgeable and also explains the importance of dental care. If these 4 people did such a great job, I'm 100% sure the rest of the staff is equally amazing! Totally recommend getting your pets cared for here. Front staff is also very helpful and polite! My dog goes to different practice because he was already on a plan when I adopted him and it made more sense to keep him on that plan, but my cats (& previous dogs) were patients here & we used to board our dogs here too. When they were good, I would constantly tell people to go here but after we had a hellish experience we shared our trauma & literally told people to stay far away from here! And we stayed far away from here! My good times here have been amazing & one of the vets saved my beautiful baby during the same hellish experience with the jerk of a vet who caused us to let go of our baby. But sadly the amazing vet moved and so I swore this place off! I needed a new vet and I really went down the rabbit hole of research and was actually brought right back here and I am so grateful that we found Dr. Candace Flynn! She is simply a dream and the most amazing, compassionate and caring vet I think I have ever met and my kitty is so comfortable with her it's pure love! Dr. Flynn, who deserves FIVE STARS+++, is also wonderful with her advice and guidance. She's very communicative and informative and just well-rounded with a holistic approach, but the amount of time and love she spends with your pet (and you) is priceless!!! They are a 24-hour emergency care, veterinary hospital, fully equipped, and fully staffed round the clock. They also have a separate, waiting room for dogs and cats to help ease the anxiety. They also have two sister hospitals in both Clifton and Arlington, Virginia. Yes, they are a bit pricier but you're inside the beltway & 15 minutes from DC so what do you expect?! Thankfully, there has been more good than bad and I know which vet to steer clear from & I still forewarn people about her! 7/2/27

They always call the day before to confirm your appointment. The vet techs also seem to really love the animals. The prices, although not cheap, seem reasonable. My pup had some matting around her eyes (poor thing) and they trimmed her facial hair at no extra cost. When I told people Miles had 35 teeth removed, they were shocked. So was I. I did not consent to…read morethat scope of surgery. Miles was 14, diabetic, and still bright. I brought him to Fairfax Animal Hospital for what I understood to be a small, single area procedure that Dr. Catherine Curry and I discussed The first thing I said at consult was "Miles has diabetes." It never came up again. Pricing was quoted at $2,800 to $3,000. I explained I had $2,000 on CareCredit. I was told "we can do that." No clear discussion of staging. I understood this as a focused treatment with maybe a few extractions The only debrief I ever got from the surgeon was a text: "He did great. We took 35 teeth! He has 6 left." No surgeon conversation at pickup. A tech handed him over. No diabetes specific plan. No warning about the critical tripwire for a senior diabetic after oral surgery: if he refuses a meal it is an emergency. That rule was never said, written, or confirmed Discharge said appetite loss for 24 to 48 hours was "not unusual." They prescribed carprofen, an NSAID that can cause nausea and is labeled "give with food," with no anti nausea med and no "hold if not eating" instruction. I went home believing recovery would be hard but safe. The dangers Miles was in was not communicated at all to me! When he refused meals, I thought it was normal recovery. I was never told how the rules changed for a diabetic senior after such a surgery. By Day 11 I called and reported weakness and minimal intake. I was told to email because the doctor was busy. No ER escalation advice. Miles died the next day at home In hindsight: no candidacy or risk disclosure, no consent to a scope change, no surgeon debrief, no diabetes focused plan, no tripwire warning, and meds without safeguards. Had I been told the truth, that as many as 35 teeth might be removed and that a missed post op meal is an ER level emergency for a 14 year old diabetic, I would not have agreed to surgery In my opinion, this was not just poor communication, it shows a disregard for obvious diabetic red flags. I feel grossly misled, and Miles paid the price

Care was adequate for two different dogs over six years or so. But during one visit, we asked about a lump on our dog's side. We eventually met the doctor when she returns with the dog, and the doctor is talking about a completely different part of the dog's body from where we'd asked about. Fortunately, it wasn't serious, but playing telephone like that without notes or photos seems risky. They also stopped providing boarding.

My dog came back with rashes and my dog had a stomach ache and barfed out yellowish liquid. I asked her why my dog had rashes all over and she claimed my dog was allergic to grooming which is not correct because my dog has gotten groomed at other places with no problem. I also can't figure out why my dog was sick after the groomed. She is also very expensive and charges the most in the area and when you charge $130 for grooming you expect better service. Unfortunately, we felt that the medicine did not have any positive impact, and the follow-ups felt rushed and confusing.
