If it was possible to leave -5 stars I would. My advise is stay away from anything North Hill…read morerentals owns. Nothing ever gets fixed properly and if you do get someone to over to fix something they'll fix it with super glue and duct tape literally. No one in my apartments thinks very highly of Larry Jenco. They treat everyone like they aren't important. There are apartments available all the time because the rent keeps going up and nothing gets fixed. If your considering renting from these slum lords, do yourself a favor. Knock on the units around the one your looking at and ask what is like to rent from these crooks. Clyde ave is a good example. You'll thank me later. Sincerely, A Current resident

This is the ABSOLUTELY worst place to reside(2149 22nd st SW Akron Ohio). I have moved here this…read moreyear and every since ive been here its been very awful.. You have to call the rental office for maintenance a million times before they give the message to him (Rick). We been very disrespected and threatened. There only response to us is for us to move. Katelyn (The Receptionist) would tell us one thing then Rick (The maintenance guy) would tell us something different. Jill the owner was get rude as well. We have received a call from her due to all of our issues and her response was in I quote "You Guys Call Non Stop, If You Dont Like Something With The Apartment Just Move.. We have been yelled at for this whole week and we're only trying to resolved the issues. She (Jill) did not give us a chance to explain what's been going on this past week. She basically called, screaming at my husband and I saying that we been calling to much and that they did everything they could. Remind you she add well as the other owner had been on vacation. She threatened us saying "Do not go up to the office nor call anymore she will handel it when she get back from vacation". We have been told a number of times that all we want is our money back which isn't true. We just want a comfortable living situation and we have been trying to explain that. With a number of other things going on with this place as well as the rental office please do not rent here.. I'm pregnant && extremely stressed as well as mad!! Ps i have a list of my call records as well as other things that have been done and said..

It's been over 3 months waiting on response on this letter which was delivered on March 3rd 2023…read more It was signed by Sarah Miller. To whom it may concern, To the owner of Newport Landing Apartments, Well, well, well, I am not sure where to start. I was never truly happy with your previous management but it certainly was better than the current management. At least they employed professional and respectful maintenance workers. I still keep in touch with some and know that most left for better pay and treatment elsewhere. For the past three years your maintenance team has been shit and most them have not lasted a week. Its not very comforting to have a maintenance person smelling like weed or alcohol while trying to gain entry to my apartment(when they would actually try to show up). Most of the time our issues went unresolved and we were left with multiple problems that we ended up having to fix ourselves(and pay for). Imagine calling for a maintenance person 10 times and 8 out of the ten times you are told that due to staffing shortages there was no one to help. The last 3 years of living in this complex was unacceptable. Your new manager Sarah is rude, I don't care that she never managed before. I don't care that her last position was that of a cleaner. What I care about is a kind demeaner and professionalism, two things that she lacks. She pretended to know what happened in the days of Debbie(the old manager) which were not great but better than under her management. When I first moved in I noticed minor burns on my counter, I also noticed scratches on walls. I was instructed to look for any major issues. I would consider a broken window, leaking pipe, broken washing machine major issues. I did not consider minor burns on a counter to be a major issue. I assumed all used apartments had similar issues. I also consider negligence a major issue. I consider a broken disposal for 4 months a major issue. I consider a broken washing machine and dishwasher a majorissue and I did not complain when, on multiple occasions, I was told that there were no maintenance staff to fix those issues. I find it a major issue that when a maintenance person is finally able to look at a problem they show up reeking of weed. I moved out because of those major issues. I find it insulting that I paid to fix most of the issues in my apartment for the last 3 years and you have the nerve to threaten me with a $640.00 bill FOR MINOR SCRATCHES AND BURNS ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER THEY BEEN THERE SINCE DAY ONE WHEN I MOVED IN 5 YEARS AGO AND IT DID NOT BOTHER ME TO MOVE IN LIKE WISE ANY NEW RESIDENTS AND YOU HAVE NO PROOF THEY WERE NOT THERE AT THAT TIME JUST YOUR WORD AND THE BILL YOU MAILED TO ME AFTER I MOVED OUT. Is that how you treat someone paid you 5 years and 2 months, that's called disrespectful, Shame and Theft. You also charged me $81 for my January water bill when I was moved out on the 1st. My average water bill averaged $55 amonth. I paid $900 to have the place professionally cleaned and painted when I moved in order to hand back the keys to an almost perfect apartment. I documented the apartment with video moments before I turned in the keys. With all of this I have compiled my list of demands. 1. You owe me an apology! 2. I want my final water bill investigated. 3. I want my deposit returned to me. 4. I want it in writing that this $640.00 error has been removed from my name. I will not back down and I have already sought legal advice in this matter. I would like Sarah's manager to call me. I will not deal with her harassing me and threatening me. I have started to obtain letters of current residents who are having similar issues and will not hesitate to make this public and take further action.

They do not…read moretake into consideration money in savings or the fact that the ability to pay the rent and all other bills with their monthly income can be shown. If someone who has an income of $2900 rents from them and then 3 months later looses their job, are they going to kick them out based on this fact only? Even if they are still able to pay their monthly rent and bills without the required $2900 income? We are not dealing with a low life. We are talking about a retired nurse here. I would not recommend this apartment complex as it appears that even with the proven funds to pay all bills, if you do not bring in monthly what they require you to have they will turn you away.....SAD

The apartments are beautiful, the staff is nice. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the…read morerates are pretty high on the studio apartments, but they are one of the few complexes that have single units. In response to the previous reviews: -Yes, they reuse the mattresses (just like hotels, dorms, and pretty much anywhere else that offers furnished units). The mattresses have waterproof nylon covers, so there aren't any problems with allergens, pests, or dirt from former tenants because they can be wiped down with disinfectant. They are good quality and comfortable with a decent foam topper and a mattress pad or protector and good quality sheets. For those considering living here, the beds are a full XL size. Sheets can be purchased at ocm.com & bedbathandbeyond.com or you can use queen sized sheets and expect them to be just a bit large on the sides. Full/Queen comforters and quilts fit fine. I found a mattress protector and foam topper in the Full XL size at amazon.com. -Yes...the outlets are in line with the bed frame....because the building was built to code with the outlets at a precise distance from the floor. Get over it. That's not the fault of the complex. -Yes, the TV units are COBY brand, but they get a decent picture, cable TV and internet (both wired and wireless) are included at no additional cost. Unlike at the dorms, you can create your own internal network for your printer/roku/phone/computer to use. It works great and the speed of the network is good. If I ran an apartment complex for college students, I'm not sure I'd install top-of-the-line units either. They're usually busy with work and school and these units are more affordable to replace if they get damaged or experience an electrical surge. -The closets...They are 6-7 feet wide and have 4 foot openings (pretty standard). One end has shelving built in, the other one can house out-of-season clothing. They work just fine and hold lots of stuff. -If you are worried about spots on the countertop, you can get a spray bottle of granite sealant. We found that wiping up spills seems to works great. -The appliances are not top-of-the-line Bosch or Viking. They are entry level, they work, and they were clean upon move-in. The front loading washer and dryer seem to get things clean and dry, the dishwasher works, the oven and stove get hot. If the other poster was used to a gas stove or oven, then yes...electric units seem to take forever. That is not the fault of the complex either. -No, the windows don't open. They don't even tilt in a bit like they do in the dorms. I didn't notice any suspect smells or off-gassing from the building and my daughter and I are both asthmatic. We didn't incur any increase in symptoms as a result of the closed system. -Also, the lease agreement clearly states the financial consequences if you break the lease. Saying you didn't know that you would be charged means that you didn't do your due diligence when you signed the legal contract in the beginning. Again, that's not the fault of the complex. The hallways are quiet, the other tenants have been very nice, so far. There are safety patrols on the premises, you have to have a key to get in, and even the parking lots have remote-controlled gates. Security is important to the complex and it shows. The computer lab with free printing, gym, pool, outdoor kitchen, free coffee bar, bike room and other amenities are nice, but having a safe, quiet, comfortable environment is the real benefit of living at 401 lofts.

If you're a woman that wants to move here I think it's a big mistake. If you're a single man yes, a single man can live here by himself with no family Because it is reasonable to live here but otherwise, if you have a family or you're a woman, please turn around and go the other direction because it's not safe. There's a lot of shooting down here in Akron, Ohio, and you could tell by the people when you walk up past the sidewalk and past them it's could be very scary for a family or a woman don't even go find something else go find somewhere else to live. It's more safe, but if you're a man, you man could probably handle it but otherwise it's definitely a maybe.
