I stopped at the parking lot. Parking lot manager verbally attacked me and demanded that I leave.

It's been over 3 months waiting on response on this letter which was delivered on March 3rd 2023…read more It was signed by Sarah Miller. To whom it may concern, To the owner of Newport Landing Apartments, Well, well, well, I am not sure where to start. I was never truly happy with your previous management but it certainly was better than the current management. At least they employed professional and respectful maintenance workers. I still keep in touch with some and know that most left for better pay and treatment elsewhere. For the past three years your maintenance team has been shit and most them have not lasted a week. Its not very comforting to have a maintenance person smelling like weed or alcohol while trying to gain entry to my apartment(when they would actually try to show up). Most of the time our issues went unresolved and we were left with multiple problems that we ended up having to fix ourselves(and pay for). Imagine calling for a maintenance person 10 times and 8 out of the ten times you are told that due to staffing shortages there was no one to help. The last 3 years of living in this complex was unacceptable. Your new manager Sarah is rude, I don't care that she never managed before. I don't care that her last position was that of a cleaner. What I care about is a kind demeaner and professionalism, two things that she lacks. She pretended to know what happened in the days of Debbie(the old manager) which were not great but better than under her management. When I first moved in I noticed minor burns on my counter, I also noticed scratches on walls. I was instructed to look for any major issues. I would consider a broken window, leaking pipe, broken washing machine major issues. I did not consider minor burns on a counter to be a major issue. I assumed all used apartments had similar issues. I also consider negligence a major issue. I consider a broken disposal for 4 months a major issue. I consider a broken washing machine and dishwasher a majorissue and I did not complain when, on multiple occasions, I was told that there were no maintenance staff to fix those issues. I find it a major issue that when a maintenance person is finally able to look at a problem they show up reeking of weed. I moved out because of those major issues. I find it insulting that I paid to fix most of the issues in my apartment for the last 3 years and you have the nerve to threaten me with a $640.00 bill FOR MINOR SCRATCHES AND BURNS ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER THEY BEEN THERE SINCE DAY ONE WHEN I MOVED IN 5 YEARS AGO AND IT DID NOT BOTHER ME TO MOVE IN LIKE WISE ANY NEW RESIDENTS AND YOU HAVE NO PROOF THEY WERE NOT THERE AT THAT TIME JUST YOUR WORD AND THE BILL YOU MAILED TO ME AFTER I MOVED OUT. Is that how you treat someone paid you 5 years and 2 months, that's called disrespectful, Shame and Theft. You also charged me $81 for my January water bill when I was moved out on the 1st. My average water bill averaged $55 amonth. I paid $900 to have the place professionally cleaned and painted when I moved in order to hand back the keys to an almost perfect apartment. I documented the apartment with video moments before I turned in the keys. With all of this I have compiled my list of demands. 1. You owe me an apology! 2. I want my final water bill investigated. 3. I want my deposit returned to me. 4. I want it in writing that this $640.00 error has been removed from my name. I will not back down and I have already sought legal advice in this matter. I would like Sarah's manager to call me. I will not deal with her harassing me and threatening me. I have started to obtain letters of current residents who are having similar issues and will not hesitate to make this public and take further action.

If someone who has an income of $2900 rents from them and then 3 months later looses their job, are they going to kick them out based on this fact only? Even if they are still able to pay their monthly rent and bills without the required $2900 income? We are not dealing with a low life. We are talking about a retired nurse here. I would not recommend this apartment complex as it appears that even with the proven funds to pay all bills, if you do not bring in monthly what they require you to have they will turn you away.....SAD

To be honest, I looked at these apartments. They're not too bad but the only thing I'm very…read moreconcerned about is the area downtown Akron there was a lot of junkies bad people rolling around definitely up to no good. Very scary. If you're a woman that wants to move here I think it's a big mistake. If you're a single man yes, a single man can live here by himself with no family Because it is reasonable to live here but otherwise, if you have a family or you're a woman, please turn around and go the other direction because it's not safe. There's a lot of shooting down here in Akron, Ohio, and you could tell by the people when you walk up past the sidewalk and past them it's could be very scary for a family or a woman don't even go find something else go find somewhere else to live. It's more safe, but if you're a man, you man could probably handle it but otherwise it's definitely a maybe.

Since the landlords don't live on site or nearby, always take before & after pictures of your rooms. Pros - Maintenance responds quickly & takes care of the property: leaks, cleaning, spraying for bugs etc. - At least one resident event is held every month, usually free food/coffee/donuts. - Staff is friendly & helpful, & some live at the apartments too. - Recently, they repainted the hallways & cleaned the carpets in the main hallways. - Dishwashers, washers, & dryers are great - Small quip: if people live above you & open their dishwasher in the middle of a cycle, occasionally you will see leaks from the ceiling. - Trash rooms are emptied almost every day. - Security cameras around the main halls, common rooms, & outside. Cons - If you have problematic roommates, management's attitude is generally one of "sucks to suck". - It would be nice if families were put on the first floor. I had a couple bad months of sleep because of the family that moved in above my apartment. - Computer lounge is outdated (software/OS = 2013, some Macs & Windows desktops) - Printer is not reliable: sometimes no paper or staples, doesn't connect to internet anymore, & scanning/emailing yourself is not much of an option. - It's on Main Street, so when the city has events every couple months, can be difficult to navigate or get to your car. - No covering for cars, yet premium parking is $135/month (within gates) or $90/month for standard (adjacent parking lot) - Management buys passes from company that owns the lot, ABM Parking, who charge $35/month - Won't let you remove a parking pass for the entire year even if you're not using their parking anymore - FYI: Free parking is available from the city underneath the bridge across the street from the apartment - Get a wagon for grocery halls. - You have to provide a 3-month warning about leaving the apartment; otherwise, they will charge you thousands of dollars - Wifi is great but some issues: - First year, wifi was public, which isn't secure & made it difficult to connect devices like an Alexa, HomePod, etc - Second year, they switched it to private per apartment but delegated the password control to one roommate for every apartment - Beds take up a large fraction of space in the bedrooms
