My wife and I recently stayed at the Redstone Cliffs Lodge and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very kind and personable and the view of the river and surrounding landscape was stunning. It was a great place to stay in a really majestic small town.

There needs to be MORE shelf space for toiletries & hairdryer!!!

We stayed at the Gamekeeper's Cottage during our recent 4 day visit to Redstone to celebrate our…read moreone year wedding anniversary. We were seeking quiet, cozy surroundings to get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy days in DFW, and what we found was a gem of a town that will be a retreat for us year after year. The Cottage has all the comforts of home...and them some. (We don't have a wood burning fireplace in our home, so that was a treat for us and we used it every day of our stay.) We were able to cook if we wanted to (kitchen was stocked with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker and french press, condiments, utensils, etc.), or hop in our Jeep for a quick ride up to the Inn. Janette was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, and everyone in Redstone was about as sweet as they come (and everyone knows everyone). Also provided: TV, DVD collection (great choices, too), cozy master, furnished master bath with heated floors, and a jacuzzi that served as the perfect place to take in the breathtaking view of the stars at night. (The photos and description seen here are faithful to the property.) Redstone itself is within a two minute drive of the cottage, and I imagine it's an easy walk as well (we had our rental so we just used it). This was the perfect home base for our Colorado getaway (we also spent a little time in Carbondale, which was great, and Aspen, which we'd pass on again). Whether you're seeking a romantic trip to the mountains with your love--complete with robes (provided), a warm fire (tools provided), hot tub (provided), and champagne (grab a bottle at the G Store, though don't be surprised if J&J leave you a little something)--or you want to reconnect with family and friends (dive into the board games, cards, DVDs, or head outside to play horseshoes or enjoy some coffee in the adirondack chairs strewn about the lovely lawn), this cottage is the perfect place to make memories that you will treasure for years to come. Just read through all of the sweet memories captured in the Guest Book over the years. You'll understand quickly why those who have had the pleasure of staying at GC don't ever want to leave, and can't wait to go back! Tip: Take the Castle tour and definitely have dinner at least once at Red's, the dining room at the Inn (best steak my husband ever had...and we eat well).

The cabin was originally built as housing for the local quarry workers but has been beautifully remodeled and updated. There was no no cell service in town, no TV in the cabin, and the only internet access was in the main lodge. It was wonderful to unplug for 2 days. The town itself is very laid back and is a nice change from many of the more tourist orientated towns in the Colorado mountains.

We stayed here on a whim after driving up and back from Crystal Mill. Paige, who worked at the…read morehotel, was so friendly and awesome! The room was surprisingly very nice and the bathroom was super nice! Felt like I was in a Marriot hotel. The lodge had complimentary SUP and kayaks for the guests to use which was a great perk! It had such a friendly small town vibe, everyone was so chill. My Only complaint was that the mattress was extremely uncomfortable (...like I would of slept better camping) which kind of sucked because everything else was so great about the place. The phone service was no good but that is was is so fun and relaxing about small remote towns. It's nice to unplug. They did have WiFi that worked okay for things like checking email but not for streaming or anything like that. The shower in the bathroom was super nice but it was one of the fancy ones that doesn't have a door, it's just half glass and open the other half but when you did shower the entire bathroom and room got super humid and muggy. Hotel is dog friendly which was awesome for our pups. Also, they only take cash and check but they are super flexible!

When we arrived, the check-in woman said that Hotwire had allocated our room, which had a queen bed for three people, without a sofa bed. I said this wasn't appropriate for our group size, but her suggestion was that we call Hotwire and cancel the room. This just didn't make any sense. I asked if they could change our room, but she insisted this would be an upcharge of $50. Then I asked if there was a supervisor who could clear up this problem, although this woman also passed the buck to Hotwire. I assumed they must be full that night, but no, they weren't. They were just cheap, argumentative, and irrational. After haggling for way too long, the manager finally agreed to provide us a suitably-sized room, but "just this once." WTF? This was appalling customer service. I'll add that this is a dated Holiday Inn with run-down rooms and amenities, and without a working pool. (They didn't have any gluten free options at breakfast either, so why should we pay more to receive less?) Two stars for the serene view of the river, zero stars for the absolutely dreadful customer service.

The furnishing and lamp shades were badly worn and/or torn and there appeared to be something smeared on the wall as you entered the room. When my husband checked at the front desk about getting another room, the clerk initially said there wasn't anything available. When my husband started got irritated and mentioned how nasty the room was with other hotel guests nearby, the clerk mysteriously was able to find another room. The second room was slightly better, but this place is WAY overpriced for the condition it's in!

Carbdondale is 14 miles away and 20-25 minutes. It is a beautiful drive between the two and was great exploring another mountain town. The Distillery Inn is a breath of fresh air. They offer five rooms. One is downstairs adjacent to the distillery and tasting room. It is handicap accessible. The other four are just up a few sets of stairs and have their own balconies. The room we stayed in Ginger is gorgeous. It is modern and offers a ton of space. The bathroom is large with a closet with safe, large counter with oversized sink, bathroom with sliding door and walk in shower with rain and handheld heads. The bed was very comfortable with high quality sheets. There is a gas fireplace and coffee machine and mini fridge. They do offer a minibar and their own spirits to buy. The room had a couch and desk as well as a patio with two chairs to relax in. On the second floor is an outdoor patio with several tables to sit at. We took advantage of unseasonably warm weather in November to eat meals at. The patio has a beautiful view of Carbondale. They provide daily newspapers and in the hallway for the rooms are additional coffee pods, plates and silverware for eating in your room. The owner Connie was extremely helpful going above and beyond to surprise my wife with flowers. She gave me different options and the vase and flowers were in the room when we checked in. She answered questions we had and helped us troubleshoot a small problem with some of the technology. The tasting room is gorgeous. We didn't spend much time there but enjoued live music from the patio (with fireplace) just outside. They have reserved parking for Inn guests behind the building in the alley. They do have free charging for electric vehicles which is very uncommon. We did buy a few bottles of their Moonlight Espresso and Whiskey and they are both delicious and oh so drinkable. The downtown of Carbondale was quiet but filled with lots of restaurants, shops and mountain hospitality. Looking forward to returning to the Distillery Inn on future visits.

Walking distance to everything, including Main St shops and restaurants, hiking trails and a working farm w/ animals to visit. Five rooms total were perfect for gathering family while each having our own rooms. A rooftop area extended shared areas. Best of all, they distill their own brand of vodka and whisky and serve creative mixed drinks downstairs. You could never find this at a name brand chain hotel. GREAT mattress, a gas fireplace, high end bathroom finishes, stocked mini fridge and in case you need them, snacks for purchase. Bags of ice are steps from each door, along with a little coffee/tea/newspaper area for the floor. No front desk. No office. But the ladies who run the Inn are friendly and efficient, communicating via email and phone. You get a keyed entry code prior to arrival. Small town hospitality without the awkward B&B interactions. We all loved it and will be back again.
