I was visiting my parents from out of town and my mom had recommended that we stop in and check everything out. I wish I hadn't. The old lady at the counter was so incredibly rude. I had my wallet in my hand and a tiny gift bag from a little book store I'd made a purchase on. As we were looking throughout the store... this lady decided to yell at me to put the bag up at the front... as if I was some kind of thief. She shouted loud enough for everyone in the store to hear. My mom and I decided to leave because first of all who talks to GROWN ADULTS like that... secondly, how about being kind and not making someone feel like a complete criminal. Can't do five stars as I have only had haircuts here, but am certain that Janet Bierer will do as excellent job on women's needs and nails. Janet is a true, award winning beauty pageant queen. Her studio is decorated with some of her many sashes, crowns and wands that she has won over the years. And she has the personality, looks and figure that go along with them. And she is a super nice person to boot. Her recent venture was to create and host the inaugural America's Super Ms. Pageant in June, 2010. This will be an annual event in Hamilton and I have written a review of that pageant in Yelp! Janet is a wonderful person and is a professional hair stylist and manicurst. She fixed up open of my nails after an injury (she did a wonderful job). She also made my other nails look so nice. I had my hair done in the past by Janet, and she did a great job then too. I highly recommend Janet. read more

It was alright. She did a fine job on my basic hair cut, but the experience was a little off for me. I just felt criticized and uncomfortable because I'm not in the know of how to ask for a style and can't afford to buy fancy shampoos. Not giving a good review due to the fact that my sister drive my daughter and I up to the boutique about a 45 minute drive to spend my gift card winnings from a radio station in my town. I had four of them on my phone and worth $20 each. I stated we just drive from and first time visiting and looking forward to use my winnings there. The employee right away was negative with me stating I would only be able to use one $20 a day, and then said she would call her boss. She comes back stating that it is one per visit per person. And telling me where to look on my phone. I look at it says one per person not visit, and refused my sister to use one. My sister daughter and I looked around the store, and all their items even consignment item were over priced. Priced as if it was new. This I knew before going, so I decided to see if I could win more to make my trip worth while. Upon looking around their wasn't much to get for $20 or less, slippers, hair ties, neck warmer. Is about it. I then ask if she can make an exception to use more then the $20 and she just had to keep repeating herself when I had to state cost of gas and driving up there. I felt they could've given the holidays and the drive, but again she was not very approachable or nice. Also now don't have the other three gift cards on my phone. I wish zero stars was an option... It takes A LOT for me to write a bad review but if I can save anyone else from going to this salon I will. I met with Janet the beginning of June for a consultation on hair extensions and she recommended I get micro bead extensions because they cause the least amount of damage, I was worried about this option slipping out because I have very fine hair and a very oily scalp but she assured me it would be okay. I made a down payment for the hair and she ordered everything I needed. I came back in on June 17th to have the extensions put in, the total cost was $520 for hair, application and tip... an expense I had saved for and was okay with paying since the hair was supposed to last 6 months to a year and the extensions were supposed to stay in place for 6 to 8 weeks before needing to be readjusted and moved up. I lost 8 extensions in the first 4 days and then proceeded to lose 1 per day for the next 3 days (for reference you should lose maybe a few the first week and then maybe 1 per week after that) so I reached out to Janet and asked what I should do and she told me I was brushing them too hard. I assure you, I was not. She exhibited no interest in helping me resolve the issue and only placed blame. I messaged her the next day because I lost 2 more extensions and could tell a lot more were already slipping out and I never received a response. I messaged her again that afternoon because I had 10 more slip right out and decided it was getting ridiculous and had my sister remove them. Again, these extensions were supposed to last 6-8 weeks without any adjustments and they lasted EIGHT DAYS. It took her 4 days to finally get back to me and all she told me was that I shouldn't have taken them out and there is no refund. I spoke to multiple other stylists about this to see if this kind of fall out is normal and they were all in agreement that Janet should have never opted to do micro bead extensions after our consultation and seeing how thin my hair was and being informed that I am prone to being super oily. I also find it necessary to mention that while I was getting the extensions put in it came up that we knew someone mutually and I said how much I loved this person and she proceeded to say horrible things about her for about 15 minutes, it was very apparent that this woman loves to gossip and put other females down. I have never been met with such unprofessionalism in a salon and I will go above and beyond to make sure I spread this word. DO NOT go to Janet Bierer for any hair services or support her boutique with items clearly ordered from China that have extremely inflated prices. I hope I can save anyone else from having the same horrible experience I had with this woman. I will attach screenshots of all conversations in the comments for reference. read more
