There is a wealth of leaflets and maps available if you are planning a holiday in the area. The gift department is superb and well stocked. I sometimes come out of my way to buy Welsh gifts here as there is always such a good selection, including books, china, jewellery, tableware, candles, fridge magnets - you name it! It's also a great place to buy traditional carved wooden 'love spoons' which are still made here in Wales. In fact, I bought one last week!

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, the date had to be changed at least twice. I must admit, reception were so accommodating and helpful. Immediately, as we drove up, I felt it was the same as I remembered. Inside it hadn't changed other than redecoration and a few modernisations which didn't change the 'olde world' atmosphere of this wonderful hotel. OK, it had The Great God WiFi now. Truthfully, can we manage without it now. Some bars and hotels use it for ordering food and drink. The room was beautiful with a view over that lake. Prosecco and chocolates (including love hearts) and a really comfy bed. Huge room. Bar area was cosy. Loads of memorabilia on the walls. Good, speedy, table service with a smile. As for the restaurant. The two meals we had were delicious with a nice bottle of wine. Nice wine list too. Breakfast in this restaurant was second to none. The service was almost silver service. It was fantastic. My partners massage, she said, took all the stress she had in back away. So treat yourself if you visit. All in all a wonderful stay. Thank you to everyone, you made it special.

My wife and I booked Carden Park Hotel in NOVEMBER 2024, for the night of September 11, 2025 to…read morehelp celebrate a dear friend's 60th birthday at the hotel. I used Hotels.com to do so. Today, on Sept 8, I received a note from Hotels.com that read: " We wanted to let you know that, unfortunately, Carden Park cannot honor your upcoming booking on 11 Sep 2025." Hotels.com did their best to book me another room elsewhere, although with three days' notice the options were far reduced from nine months earlier. No reason was given by Carden Park for dishonoring the reservation. In my opinion, there is no reasonable excuse for waiting nine months to let me know that they would dishonor my reservation (and it was not any reason, such as nonpayment, on my part). The Carden Park website says that they are 'closed' on September 11. Why I don't know, since they're open the next day. Perhaps they needed the rooms for a corporate outing, but I cannot confirm this. In any case, it's my opinion that Carden Park's actions are reprehensible and that their failure to offer any compensation or credit is simply unacceptable. It will be a cold day in Hell before I ever stay at this place.

But the rooms are nicely appointed and there are 2 very nice restaurants; one casual pub style and the other more fine dining. Both restaurants serve great food. There's a nice spa, fitness and fantastic pool. And the service is very good.

Several electrical outlets to charge all our electronics. Shower had a rain shower head and the hot water was just right. Could have used a handicap bar to get out of the tub enclosure, though. The included breakfast each morning was great, lots of variety and everything was fresh, including the croissants. I've been to other hotels where the pastries seem a day or two old. Highly recommend this hotel. We did not use the pool, spa or workout center.
