Dishonest and manipulative. They seem knowledgable at first, but they are lazy and greedy. Asked about setbacks, and they make something up without ever checking. Permits? "Oh, not needed" (factually wrong). A particular paver? "Oh, they come from China, not available" (wrong). They demand most of the overall cost (50K+) without even doing a thing. Stay away!! Started planning my project with Redmond Design and Soake Pool in September of 2020 for Spring installation in 2021. The team at Redmond was there every step of the way, including the day the pool was dropped. The job foreman checked on the progress and the site foreman pulled it all together. Having that crew around for almost a month was not a bother. They were respectful in that my backyard was not a job site, it was my home. I watched them take pride in planning out the stone on my patio and building a fire pit. When I said I wanted something different, no problem, black cobblestones were suggested. They truly are a design team and I was especially impressed with the craftsmanship. I'm really surprised at a few negative reviews. Not my experience at all. read more

We have had a very positive experience with Redmond Design Group and have been working with them since about six years ago when we decided to embark on a substantial pool and patio project. Susan Redmond and her team came recommended by our pool company, Pool Pro. I like working with contractors that already have a good relationship/reputation with other contractors. I was thrilled when I met Susan. She immediately got our vision and had great ideas to fill in the blanks where we did not know what we would want. We quickly went to drawing plans, getting permits and beginning construction. I will be very real - most projects in life have their surprises, and ours did too. This is where a lot of trouble starts between homeowners and contractors. Redmond handled these situations professionally and with a positive, problem-solving spirit. When things came up, Susan, Rob and Rob B. all worked to quickly discuss options with us, provide estimates so we could make rational decisions, and keep the project moving forward. In retrospect, some of the "surprises" led us to design solutions that we love even more. We came to appreciate their communication and responsiveness so much that all these years later, Redmond still comes to our house weekly to do lawn care and maintenance and help with small projects and plantings that we have added along the way. Having worked with many contractors over many situations, there are three categories we are looking for: 1) design talent; 2) quality/beauty/durability of workmanship; and 3) ability to stick to budget/communicate well. We usually feel lucky if we find someone who is great at two of the three. The Redmond Design Team does all three and prides themselves on never letting up efforts to do them all well. After our project, I know at least three of our neighbors that have worked with Redmond for their landscape design and installation projects and all have been happy. Last, I have to add that my husband and I like supporting a woman-owned business - not the norm in landscape design/construction. I am writing this now as we have spent more time in our pool, patio and yard in the past year than I ever imagined. We are so grateful to have this space, and grateful to the team that helped make it a reality with us. read more

If there were an option for six stars, or ten, I would choose that. We hired Redmond initially in the summer of 2017 at our neighbor's referral; Redmond landscaped her lawn after a massive Norway maple on our shared property line had to be removed. On our property, while we decided what to do for the future, we had Redmond come through and clean up the mud pit of a lawn we inherited from the previous owners of our home. Redmond removed the huge root system leftover from the maple, and graded the area for us. This spring, starting in March, we proceeded with redesigning the entire backyard, including removing an old brick patio, installing two separate permeable bluestone patios, installing dry wells in the front and rear of the property, and laying down sod. Beyond the work that was done, the crew very generously offered to plant four new trees that we purchased at no extra charge, which saved me a lot of physical labor. The crew was working during a snow storm, out in the cold for hours - that's dedication. Throughout the process, from initial planning conversations to final billing, we found every member of the crew with whom we interacted to be knowledgable, helpful, kind, diligent, and very easy to work with. I cannot recommend Redmond more highly. read more

Redmond is very good at billing and collecting payments for incomplete work. Be careful with them-they are vague in contracting, substitute inferior products for what was specified, and when asked for details about what was used and what was paid for, Redmond is unresponsive. read more

Redmond Design Group is the most professional and responsive company I have ever worked with as a homeowner! We were looking for a company to work with that could help us redo an area of our property that had been disturbed due to building an addition to our home. Right from the first phone call, Rob was responsive to our needs. He quickly provided us a quote and once we agreed the project was scheduled quickly. In April 2018, we hired Redmond to do a spring cleanup then landscape four planting beds and install a drip irrigation system (quote: $12,000). The trouble began when my $6K down payment check got cashed without any indication from Redmond as to when they would start the job. Two weeks later I was told that "all work will be done" the following week. No one showed up until Friday. Two weeks after that Redmond asked me to pay the balance because "today we will conclude the work." I pointed out that the bricks Redmond had removed from our front walkway to install the irrigation pipes hadn't even been replaced and there was a large pile of mulch still at the end of our driveway. The irrigation system didn't work when we first turned it on and their installer, Ed, had to come back because he'd installed something backwards! This winter the part of our walkway from which Redmond had removed and then replaced bricks flooded and iced over repeatedly. (The walkway had been installed in 2004 and had never flooded once.) I asked Redmond to take a look in late March. I was told someone would come "next week." No one showed. I asked again in mid-April and was told "this week." No one showed. I asked again last week and was told Monday at 8AM. That's today, and no one showed. In summary: Redmond Design is a frustrating and unresponsive company to work with. The only thing they do efficiently is ask for money. read more

We hired Redmond towards the end of last summer on the recommendation of a neighbor. Our previous landscaper took forever to get to promised tasks. Not so with Redmond.
