Was extremely disappointed with this service travelling from Hobart to Launceston. The bus driver was extremely rude and unhelpful.

Airporter City Hotels Shuttle - Airport Shuttle - Parked Outside Baggage Carousel Exit

Hobart Airporter is an airport shuttle service that travels between Hobart International Airport…read moreand lodging accommodations in Hobart. You can pre-book online on their website, but it is not necessary. The airport shuttle is parked right outside the baggage claim area of the airport. The shuttles are timed with the arrival times of every flight. If you haven't pre-booked, you can walk curbside to the shuttle and purchase a seat. The rates are $18 for one-way and $32 for a round trip. If you buy the round trip, you either call the number on the ticket or go online to the website to enter the date and time you will be returning to the airport. This should be done at least a day in advance. I tried to use the online site at first, but I had trouble with it so I had to call the number instead. This was a bit difficult as well as I didn't know how to dial the number using my American cell phone, so it may be best to use the hotel telephone to call. The online website for this service shows a picture of a tour size shuttle bus, but the shuttle bus that I took was smaller with no room on board for luggage. Instead, the shuttle bus is connected to a luggage trailer in back. The shuttle has a list of stop locations that you can view on their online website. The hotel I stayed at in Hobart was not on the list due to its mid-street location, but there was a hotel across the street in which there was a stop. When you return to the airport, you should wait at the same stop that you get off at. Make sure to be at the stop 15 minutes before the time they provide. Though I was a little uneasy about taking the shuttle at first, I found it to be pretty straightforward way to get from the airport to Hobart CBD. I would use this airport shuttle service if I ever visit Hobart again.

$19 one way, $35 return. Essentially curbside service to your hotel. Easy and fast.read more

The first time someone told me to meet them at the bus mall, I panicked. Is that... a station? Is…read moreit a real place, or just a local nickname? Will I sound stupid if I ask these questions!? I'm going to tell you what I did, Yelpers. I caught a taxi. I caught a taxi to the bus mall, hoping the taxi driver would know what the bus mall was. "What end?" he asked, and I hesitantly replied, "the post office?" because this was the rest of the meeting instruction from the person I was meeting ("the bus mall, on the post office side"). Thank goodness it all made sense to him, because he was off in a jiffy and soon enough we pulled up on Macquarie Street. "So... is that the bus mall?" I meekly asked, gesturing over at Franklin Square (before I knew it was Franklin Square), where I could see a couple of bus stops. "Nope, it's right in front of you." "Oh... of course," I replied, looking ahead at an intersection. Just get out of the cab with what intelligence you have left, I told myself, and work it out from there. I thanked the cab driver and bailed. GUYS. THE BUS MALL IS BASICALLY A MALL FOR BUSES! I KNOW! IT'S AMAZING! But seriously, it's a chunk of Elizabeth St (in between Macquarie St and Collins St) that is JUST FOR BUSES! And taxis, I think, or emergency vehicles or something. The section of the street is paved a bit like a mall, and there are a stack of bus stops on either side of the street, where Metro buses will take you all over Hobart. So good. The 42 bus that pulls up in front of the Post Office will even take you to MONA for only $4.80 return. What a sweet deal. That's the end of my embarrassing story.
