I honestly started to feel like I was being dramatic or imagining how bad I felt. They even told me to come back in three days if things didn't improve... so when a week later I came back feeling even worse, I thought I'd finally be taken seriously. Instead, I was dismissed again with no medication. The very next day I went to another urgent care and found out I had influenza. So no, it wasn't just my throat being a little overdramatic -- it was my entire immune system fighting for its life. I won't be coming back, but I do hope future patients are taken more seriously the first time.

If I could give Okemos Urgent Care zero stars, I would. I called ahead before coming in,…read morespecifically asking if they were busy, and was told it wouldn't be a long wait. That was an outright lie. I sat there, in excruciating pain from a scratched cornea, for over an hour and a half, barely able to keep my eye open. And just when I thought my turn was finally coming, I was bumped back further because a mother with a vomiting baby took priority. I understand triage, but at that point, I had already waited longer than anyone should in an urgent care setting. To make matters worse, when I tried to cancel my appointment and leave, I could not get the attention of a single staff member. I waved, I stood up, I even tried calling from inside the waiting room--nothing. Their complete lack of communication and concern for their patients is appalling. This place is an absolute joke. If you actually need urgent care, go literally anywhere else. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

The ladies and security up front understood his pain and didn't give him a hard time for crawling on the ground though letting him know how gross it was. Once we got a room, we waited awhile but who doesn't in the ER? He received 3 shots and waited longer for Dr. Warren. My husband really enjoyed meeting him and getting advice about what he can do and why he should do everything to avoid surgery. He got him some meds that have been working well since our visit on Friday. We appreciated the care he got here over going to sparrow in the past.

Last year I went septic with a dental infection and was in the ICU for four days. I spent a total of 16 days in the hospital. The pain is causing me to lose sleep, which feels like mania. I have bipolar disorder. If I have an extended session of mania, it leads to psychosis. I see a paychiatrist regularly and I actually saw her in the morning, but there is a paperwork issue and the meds she requested for me will not be filled until Tuesday. I know the ER is not a dentist or my psychiatrist, but I felt like I was in crisis so I went. I was hoping for antibiotics for the dental infection and maybe a bridge prescription of a couple of my psych meds to get me through until Tuesday. Instead I was summarily dismissed by Dr. Chad Kovala. "I'm not a dentist and your psychiatrist is treating you. I can't help you." It didn't matter that I went septic last year from the same issue. Apparently my inpatient psych history doesn't matter either. I was so distraught by his dismissal of me that I called the suicide helpline when I got to my car. I have the screenshot. I was on the phone with them for 30 minutes before I felt safe to drive home. I have never before been dismissed with such a smug and superior attitude. Yes, I know a dentist is the ultimate solution for my tooth issue and a psychiatrist needs to do long-term med adjustments but I was in CRISIS. My teeth are IN MY MOUTH AND THEY AFFECT MY HEALTH. Hospitals are supposed to care for sick people. Period. You didn't. Do better. (Photo attached. I was in the ER from around 5:15-6PM. Also, your number is on record as well as you can see. I was trying to reach anyone who might care. Guess I need to keep driving to Ann Arbor.)

Without my consent, they received my emergency room records--despite the fact that I have not been a patient there in over 4 years. I never listed them as my current provider, and the hospital had clear instructions on who my current physician was. To make matters worse, when I began asking questions, my patient portal with Haslett Primary Care was suddenly deleted. This not only cut off my access to records I needed, but also disrupted my medical care with my current OB/GYN, whose office shared access through that portal. It feels like they attempted to cover up their mistake rather than take responsibility. The entire experience has been stressful, violating, and completely unacceptable. Medical records are supposed to be protected by HIPAA laws, and this situation makes me question how many other patients may have had their information shared without their knowledge. I have filed a formal grievance with Patient Relations, and I sincerely hope action is taken--but in the meantime, I would urge anyone considering this practice to think twice. I have no way to contact them in writing as the patient Portal access was cut off and I have tried several times to send a message on their contact form but get an error message.
