Chill little cafe located in one of the nicer, and busier areas of Notting Hill, with a healthy menu, and a price tag to match. Truth be told, this little joint wasn't on my radar; I was actually searching for a different coffeeshop that I never found. Still, I was pretty famished, and I've had enough of brassieres to last me a lifetime. The service was friendly, right off the bat, and although I wasn't given the most comfortable table- given that I was alone- it wasn't a bad spot to dine in. The menu was pretty typical of vegan restaurants, with its usual gamut of "safer-than-soy" mushroom burgers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and a whole lot of superfood smoothies and tonics. With, again, a price tag to match. I went with their Redemption Burger- because it sounds so cool, doesn't it? It packs just about every superfood mushroom you can think of- from Reishi to Chaga and some other ones I can't pronounce- and flavorful veggies, all nestled between a charcoal bun, which, aside from looking cool acts as an extra toxin magnet when eaten in moderation. It also comes with a side of spicy slaw, and some fries, which to be honest, were on the soggier side of crispy. The whole meal, sans drink, came out to just under £20; which, while pretty darn delicious, I'm not sure I would pay again. I mean, it raised my acidity, for one thing. I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: This location is in Notting Hill, which is nice district of the city. 3/5 ATMOSPHERE: The decor gives off an ambiance that is pretty hip and chill lol. I really like the marble tables. The only thing I would say is that I think adding some more darker elements to the space would make it easily even better (e.g. the white walls are kind of boring). Lol I'm no interior decorator though -- I'm just sharing my thoughts. 3/5 SELECTION: It's all vegan and a lot of it is whole-food oriented, so there's not really anything super-processed on the menu, which is good. There's also a nice variety on the menu too -- breakfast foods, salads, bowls, pastas, burgers, soups, sides, etc. 4/5 WHAT I GOT: I got their Tokyo Bowl with the dressing on the side. It was okay, but I just wish I got something else instead because it was kind of lackluster in my opinion. It comes with brown rice, avocado, cucumber, radish, chilli, hijiki seaweed, and sesame seeds. To me, it just tasted like onion-y rice, and onions always leave a bad taste in my mouth. I mean, it tasted fresh and the ingredients seemed of good quality, but I guess it just wasn't the dish for me. I'm not gonna keep bagging on it though because I just should've thought it out better and gotten something else, especially considering the other people I was with's meals looked good and tasted pretty good from the bites I got to try. I'd definitely go back here to do that. 3/5 SERVICE: The service was pretty good. Our waiter was nice -- he even noticed that one of our tables was wobbly and bent down and all to fix it, even though it wasn't even a big deal and we didn't even ask. The rest of the staff seemed fine too. And, our food came out in good timing as well. 4/5 read more

I remember a previous incarnation of Redemption at Goldfinger Factory at the foot of Trellick Tower a few years ago, a pop-up bar specialising in non-alcoholic cocktails. Redemption has grown up into a full-blown vegan restaurant at the border of Notting Hill and Bayswater. The non-alcoholic cocktails are still its main feature and the drinks menu sounds impressive. What a shame that more than half of the drinks were unavailable on our visit ... I made a bad choice with the moscow mule which promised lime and mint but tasted like apple juice with an overdose of ginger. My teetotal friend knew what she was doing when she ordered her Bees Knees sparkling 'wine' ... Two of the food items were also unavailable but the menu long enough to work around that minor disappointment. We went for vegan variations of pulled pork bun and hamburger - mainly because they were both served with sweet potato chips ... neither of us are vegan, and pasta or rice dishes with nut cheese just don't do it for us. There are so many exciting non-animal dishes out there, why make pretend copies of carnivore favourites?! The taco and dip combo we shared for starters was the absolute highlight for me, the colour combination alone made me happy. As is so often the case the ratio of chips to dips was not well calculated. There was no chance of ordering more tacos as all staff were hiding behind the counter for most of the night. I so wanted this to become my new favourite but unfortunately Redemption will remain a novelty destination. I really want to give this place five stars but I just can't, sadly. Nama Raw in Notting Hill just has, overall, better-tasting food. My husband and I got many of the menu items so I feel qualified to give a thorough review. I got the aubergine and tahini with toasted pine nuts and pomegranate seeds and the baked sweet potato and sumac, with coconut yoghurt and more seeds as a side. The main was just...OK. Whilst the aubergine was well-roasted, it still lacked flavour, even with the tahini. Disappointing, despite the generous amount of slices. However, the coconut yoghurt on the sweet potato was awesome. It comes as a light foam and it really ramps up the potato base, which is dense enough but cuts well with a fork. The yoghurt is so good that even my husband, who proclaims how much he hates coconut, loved it. He got the asparagus black rice risotto with "Parmesan" and rocket. The portion is generous again but... the flavour is again just "meh." It could have been so much richer IMO but was bland overall. I got the spiced chai latte to drink and my husband got a berry smoothie. My chai was served lukewarm, which drove me nuts. Why wouldn't you serve a chai hot??? I think it tasted fine- nothing particularly special- except for the lovely presentation. My husband liked it much more than me. His berry smoothie was fine, nothing too exciting. For dessert, we got the bliss balls: which come as 4, are dark chocolate and date truffle, rolled in coconut. A few berries round out the dish. The balls are quite good, with a perfectly dense texture and not overtly sweet. My husband got the apple crumble with almonds and it was AWESOME. Seriously, I am a chocolate girl through and through and I couldn't stop raving on this. FYI the menu warns this takes 15 minutes to make as it's hot, but this came to us in less than 10. However, AVOID the dark chocolate and cashew mousse; raw cacao and avo mousse layered with orange and cashew cream. It is literally tasteless. We talked to the manager after and even she made a kind of face when I mentioned this dish, noting the chef is likely taking it off the menu soon. My husband got the orthodox Russian cold press coffee. He asked for it be warmed though and said it was OK overall. read more

Finally my wishes have been answered in this upmarket vegan raw food establishment. Marble top tables, slick service and beautifully presented organic foods. Prices were most reasonable considering the high standards of aesthetics and West London postcode. Looking forward to returning, and trying out their Persian plate. read more

The food here is divine. Coming from LA, where we are vegan and gluten-free everywhere you go, it was SUCH a GIFT to find Redemption while staying in the neighborhood. The staff is super friendly, great recommendations, and the food... so so good. I had the Adaptogenic Creamy Mushrooms on toast and was really really happy with my order. On a different visit, I had the antipasto share platter and that was also top notch. Can't wait to get back to London and make this a tradition! read more

I really wanted to try this place out because I am very into this kind of restaurants: healthy food with great ambience, that is not easy to find. I really wanted to give them five stars, but the menu really lacks originality. There is so much you can do with vegan food, that they just fall short on the menu. For example, the kale chips were too moist, I have tried the ones at Wild Food Cafe, and those are heavenly! Furthermore the roasted chickpeas in the nibble platter were not chickpeas, they were almonds! I know this is a small thing, but they should tell people about the changes. None of the plates really stood out. I think they can do sooo much better. Come on chef, prove us you have more to give us! On the positive note, the dessert we had was absolutely delicious! We had the ruby forest gateau, the flavours were magnificent, and the presentation was divine. Hopefully I'll be able to drag my husband back in a few months if they up their game. Like literal redemption, this place is great in theory but lacks fun. Every recipe was far too complex, with many competing flavours rather than complementary. Presentation was lovely, service was so-so. The drinks had too many ingredients. Words can't begin to give this place justice. I was in the U.K. for a few weeks and I happened upon this place. I had a carrot/ginger soup that will change you. I'm not a vegan but I love good food. Went to the Old Street location the other day. Exact opposite of The Breakfast Club. Creative, beautiful and healthy food, friendly staff who want to be there (no one's too cool for this place). Very reasonably priced for the location and the quality of the food. Just a real shame it's not open on Sunday in Old Street. But that's not even a complaint really. This is a shining beacon in the otherwise culinary wasteland of London. read more

We visited Redemption several times during our stay in Notting Hill in 2015. The people were so friendly and the food was outrageously good. One of the waitresses was so kind we almost wanted to ask her to come with us to a park we visited that she suggested, which she called "reindeer park". That park (Richmond Park) end dup being one of our favorite things we did during our stay. At Redemption we drank Flu Fighters every time, which was a spicy mix of goodness that helped us stay healthy during our travels and every dish we ate was delicious, including the desserts. It was also nice to be in a dimly lit social atmosphere with delicious drinks that were all alcohol free. When we are back in Notting Hill again, we will surely return. Thanks to our waitress for the great suggestions and to Redemption for the clean, delicious eats. read more
