I usually cut my own hair because personally paying $17 on a haircut every week or two is too much but once in a while when I need a nice looking haircut, I come here. Place always looks clean, the owner is cool and every barber knows what they're doing. Except one guy one time was too rough and seemed like he was rushing even though there was nobody waiting (I didn't tip him). I wish it could be cheaper but I get a Golds Gym discount on Mondays from 9am-1pm if you're a Gold member it's a good deal. They only accept cash but they have an ATM machine inside. I've always enjoyed my experience here. I favored Manny, the big black guy. This kid was talented, but unfortunately left on bad terms I suppose. I asked if they knew where he went and I got silence. The other barbers are okay, but not worth the price. My hair is kind of ethnic and thick and Manny handled it like a boss. Jimmy of all barbers really "butchered" my hair (Manny's words). It seems as if these barbers need a tremendous amount of educating when it comes to cutting hair. There is nothing classic about this shop other than an old coke machine which looks like it hasnt been cleaned. I was referred to royal barbers and when I was told it was a full service I was sold. Not many barber shops offer that. Before going in I checked yelp read reviews and scoped out some pics. I then decided to just go with a walk-in and not an appt. My first impression was 5 stars and that it has a nice and updated vintage feel. Second was the staff (5stars) polite, professional and very welcoming. Third my barber who's was Andrew asked what I wanted to do I then told him small pomp with a classic part showed him a pic and it was done 5 stars for that. I really like how it's only a 4 station barber set up (5stars) I feel any more than that is too much means too many people waiting and that could be uncomfortable right when you walk in. Another thing I feel is a lil disrespectful when someone walks in and has to go up to every barber and say what's up give dabs or high fives while you're getting a cut. It can wait when your turn is up, wasn't like that at royal barbers (5stars). I also would like to mention that I went in not knowing anyone just off word of mouth. I love the full service and I highly recommend this spot. I will be a new regular. At Royal Barbers you don't just pay for a cut you pay for an experience. read more

Recently moved to the area and still in search of a good spot to cut my hair. Visited this place hoping to get a decent haircut. I'll never know if these guys could have provided me with a good haircut because I never got one. I walked in and the 2 barbers that were there at the time barely looked at me, and certainly did not acknowledge me. The least they could have done was give me a simple hello. Then I sat and waited, and waited, as they took their sweet a$$ time doing simple haircuts that should normally take 10 minutes, but these lasted over an hour. They were more focused on chatting with their customers then they were on cutting hair. Absolutely no sense of urgency. The least they could have done would be to greet me, acknowledge me as a customer, and that's all I ask. I got tired of waiting after about an hour I walked out. I will never be back to give them another try. The funny part is that a writing on their wall proudly claims that they are focused on "Creating a Customer for Life". Not so much. read more

I enjoy supporting local businesses especially those that take care of our veterans by giving them a discount and have veterans that work at the shop. I usually get my haircut at a different barber shop, but was scrolling through Yelp because I needed a last-minute haircut and my usual Barber Shop is closed on Mondays. Found pretty good reviews for this place so I thought I'd try it out. I checked their website and it said men's haircuts $17. I got a great haircut from the barber but when she rang me up she charged me $19 I only had a $20 bill on me (expecting a $17 haircut and tipping $3) I felt bad because it's a cash only barber shop and I gave only $1 tip. I don't mind spending the money on a quality haircut but I wish the prices were more accurate on their website so I can bring more cash for a better tip. I will definitely revisit this Barber Shop because of the great haircut I received. read more

The first time I took my sons we got the manager. My boys loved their cut I was disappointed that the manager didn't care to clean the hair off of their faces, which is what should always be done. But since they liked it I took them back today 11/20/2016. One of my sons got the manager and my only disappointment with him is that he left chunks of hair on my sons face again, this is not how I would treat my customers no matter what age. My other son got Andrea. I was pleased with how she was taking her time and really cleaned him up in the end. However when I looked at his cut closely I noticed that the front line of his hairline was significantly crooked. No problem from me, I just asked her to fix it and she said no problem. I had no issue with giving her an opportunity to fix it. I looked at it after she was done and it still did not look right. Second attempt, I asked for her to fix a specific side and she got an attitude, I didn't think to much about her attitude at first I just wanted her to fix it, so she took him back. Because of her attitude I decide that I needed to sit closer to her station to observe and I noticed that she was not fixing the side that I mentioned was the issue. So I asked her to stop and I explained it to her again. She proceeded to tell me that with his eyes closed that the line was straight. I'm not sure the rational for that but I told her that my son doesn't walk with his eyes closed and I could still see that it was not straight even with his eyes closed. I'm sure if we all walked with our eyes closed we wouldn't even see the obviously crooked hairline (just a thought!). I'm not a confrontational person, wasn't looking for a free haircut (I already paid and tipped her), nor was I looking to make things difficult for her. I simply wanted my son's hairline to be fixed. So I spoke to her calmly and asked her to fix the left side of the hairline which is what I could tell was the cause of his line looking crooked. Her response was that it was going to look weird but "ok I'll do it just to make you happy." It looked better in my opinion so I asked her to do a little at a time, asking her to stop periodically to check. If I had to guide her it was obvious she didn't know how to fix it (I have not been trained to cut hair). My disappointment is that she wanted to convince me that the crooked line could not be fixed, furthermore, that the hairdresser did not know how to fix it herself. In the end I had to speak with the manager outside and he offered to fix his haircut, he was there the whole time and could see my concern. We waited for him to fix it and to be honest I didn't notice significant improvement, I just wanted to leave at that point. I can appreciate the manager's attempt to rectify the situation, he was doing his job, but there was no justification for her attitude and argument. Showed up @ 12:50p. I was barely greeted by the Barber outside on his smoke break. Upon entering he asked "Are you here for a haircut?" I walked in without responding as to not reply in sarcasm. Inside the store it looked clean, AC was blowing no line. There was also no barbers? I sat on the bench with my son for 10mins. I frequently looked out the window and saw puffsof smoke being blown. I decided to finally get up and leave. No one ever attempted to cut our hair. This is not the first time my family has experienced this. We won't be coming back again. read more

I've been coming to royal barbers for about a year now, and I must say that this is the best shop around and the only place I go. When I first walked in i could tell this isn't your normal $5 chop shop. Before he even started my hair cut he made sure we were on the same page when it came to how I wanted it cut, and always checked before cutting. I have yet to leave here unsatisfied and they have truly built a customer for life. Very happy with the haircut. A little pricier ($17) than a lot of the places, but it's definitely you get what you pay for. I've heard they do hot towel shaves too, so I'll definitely get one of those next time. Walked in to the shop there's 5 barbers, asked out loud if I had to put my name on the list as I saw the shop full of customers and didn't want to get mixed up by taking someone's turn or someone taking mine, they all look at me like I'm stupid and say no. I think to myself how could you keep track of all these people? Oh well went with it, waited 45 minutes and people kept coming in, I still kept wondering how do they keep track of this without messing up the ordene in doing so. To my surprise a "manager" or authority figure pounces through the door and ask why no one is signed in, he starts putting random people on the list, as if he'd been there keeping track this whole time. After skipping me over three people I got up and went to Rich and Famous barbers down the street. They made me feel right at home, look them up, they'll do you right. Customer service and consideration to people's time should always come first. If you want to have a list, great I do too, but follow it, don't make it up as you go. After a botched home haircut we checked with Yelp and headed over here for a birthday cut. The shop is crystal clean, classy, and oozed old Hollywood gangster style (but not in a thuggish way). We were greeted right away by the owner and my son was seated immediately. The owner is incredible with kids and made my son at ease and in giggles. He even put shaving cream on his cheek and pretended to shave his face...hilarious! My son received the best attention and cut ever and we will definitely be coming back. Went today in the morning to get a haircut before work I always get medium fade so I'm well aware of what it should look like. so far the worst haircut I've ever had gave me the opposite of what I had asked her. When I got up to look at my haircut she had given a super high fade almost looking like if I had foe hawk totally disappointed and to top it off she gave me some dumb excuse to why she had to do when I've never had that problem before with other barbers. read more

There are some talented barbers here. Beware, know your barber. There are some morons working there that will give you what they think you want without asking. That said you might walk out very angry, speaking from experience. To the owner, you have a great business be wary of barbers with poor customer service that could bring you down. Bad customer service meaning not being in tune and engaging the customer to find out what they want and assuming all customers want the same thing. Barbering is a personal experience with a client and deserves three minutes of time getting to know the customers likes and dislikes. Get rid of barbers that lack good customer service. I will return and will be selective when choosing a barber and hope to find an improvement in the barbers engagement with clients. read more

I recently came into Royal Barbers for my monthly haircut and sadly I was not pleased. In any barber shop you can expect great client service, but sadly I was given otherwise when not only was the vibe of the consultants negative but they were arguing in the back about something that was not work related at all. As my barber comes out from the back sadly she was obviously not in the best mood which can make anyone nervous for the service they will be having, because non work related incidents should never interfere with ones work ethic, it is completely unprofessional. Not only am I uncomfortable at this point but I'm also in concern of what my haircut is going to turn out like. Anyways, the haircut that I specifically explained to her was literally the complete opposite, she was very rude and completely incompetent when it comes to her profession. Sadly, I will not be returning to this barber shop even though there prices may be nice, but this is not the only time I have had a bad experience let alone a bad haircut at this barber shop. If this barber shop wants to improve there must be some changes around there. read more

My daughter took my son in on Friday and the same tall black guy nicked his eyebrow in half! The first time I took him he did it too but it seemed like it was an accident this time it looked like it was done deliberately. Now I've been a hairdresser for 26yrs and I know it's tuff cutting kids hair, my son is 8yrs old and can be fidgety. But never in my years of cutting or clipping someones hair have I ever done something to that extreme. Now if you don't have the patience to cut kids hair, then Hey pass him to someone else. My daughter was shocked and left without saying anything because of not wanting to make a scene. So that is why I resorted to post on YELP! I will try and upload a picture of the guy and also another so you all can see his eyebrow! And yes you might question "Why don't I just cut his hair" well like I said I'm a hairdresser not a barber therefore I'm not trained in the new trends of men's clipper cuts that are styling right now.
