I'll buy them online for Christmas gifts this year. Great stocking stuffer! Stock included standard postcards, magnets, notecards, color books, mugs, children's books and recipes all from Scandinavia. Christmas knick knacks galore. August in Hayward was not the time for Christmas gifts. CUTE kiddie clothing. Warm socks. Shows straight for over the pond. A few choice Rosemaling pieces from a local artist. Beautiful. Pricy but worth it. My grandma had many of the same pieces in her home years ago. Great store. I bought a bumper sticker because this Norwegian couldn't find anything worth dropping a wad of cash but I'm glad I stopped in.

It's nice to see a candle store that isn't overloaded with the ubiquitous Yankee Candle crap. Candle Cottage carries Colonial House and several other brands I'd never heard of like Kringle (heavenly black tea scented candles) and Milk House (yummy soy scents, reasonably priced). They also have a large selection of house brand candles that are very well priced - the scents seemed hit or miss to me but there were lots of choices. We bought a candle as a gift here, and they were happy to wrap it in pretty fall tissue for us. If your cabin is a little musty, this place will help you banish the stink!

I had a problem with a fuse blowing on the seat heaters and passenger handles, though I didn't know that at the time. They took my sled in right away and two days later my sled was running fine. And this in the height of service season. I always find it's not how well things go when everything's fine, it's how things go when they're not. We opted for the 23-hour rental and returned our vehicle late on a warm July evening after a 125 miles tour from Seeley to Cable to Clam Lake and Hayward - by way of an amazing trail network and a few county roads. I've been in the Hayward area for more than 50 years and saw places on this tour I've not seen before. I had nearly as much fun sitting next to my wife and looking at the landscape as I did when I was behind the wheel navigating the trails. Runamuk provides everything you need for a trip. Consider bringing ear protection - the machines are loud. Don't forget sunglasses and a rag to wipe to them clean after trekking a puddle or two.

We rode right after a big storm and got nice and wet and muddy from splashing through large rain puddles along the trails. The vehicles were very sturdy and we felt perfectly safe, even through some rough terrain. Jim also had us stop at a few spots along the way to show us some beautiful scenery and tell us a bit about the history of the area. Most of us hadn't been on or driven ATVs before and all of us would do it again! As far as the value goes, for 3 generations to spend a quarter of a day doing something we all enjoyed and had never done before, we felt it was worth every penny. Communication from Joan prior to our tour was excellent. She answered our questions promptly and thoroughly. Both she and Jim were wonderful. We will likely do business with them in the future! We look forward to more adventures!

My original review seems to have disappeared after being on here for quite some time. I will try…read moreand be as brief as possible in restating my encounter with Mikeal Ostrander, the owner/optometrist. It's been awhile, but I will never forget the horrible treatment I received here. It left an impression. I had an eye appointment and immediately upon entering the office, I presented my insurance card and a copy of my eyeglass coverage. They appeared to make copies of those items. I assumed (incorrectly) that they would run things through my insurance. When choosing glasses, I presented the insurance coverage document to that person as well. She assured me that if I had coverage and their office was paid again, they would reimburse me for what I was paying out of pocket that day. When I found out they didn't submit the items to insurance, I asked them to pay the amount insurance would have covered, had they done what they were supposed to do in the first place. I was told they weren't required to submit to my insurance. Then why take my insurance documents and make copies? What's the point, if you're not submitting it to insurance? The optometrist/owner didn't care about the fact that his staff dropped the ball on their end. He was extremely unpleasant and unreasonable in working with me to fix the situation they caused. Countless unpleasant interactions later, the owner/optometrist would not reimburse me for the $75ish they were supposed to repay me. They were standing by their mistake. I now go to a different eye doctor in Hayward (Northview). The staff actually look up your benefits and tell you specifically what is covered. They are wonderful to deal with. REPLY TO "TIM F's" COMMENT: Ironic that Tim F. was not involved in this dispute but you're writing using his name. You are not Tim F. Yet another questionable business practice. My original review, under my name, was up for the majority of the last few years. It recently disappeared and not because of some fake name. I had watched it through the years and it had been read by many, many people. You could learn a lot from Northview Eye Clinic. I walked in, presented the same information I provided to your staff, and by the time my exam was done, they told me exactly what I would be paying for glasses out of pocket and what my insurance would cover. It went off without a hitch, as it should. I didn't mention this in my first review, because I didn't know at the time, but the prescription you gave me for distance was not correct. I wondered why I couldn't wear those glasses without getting a headache. Now I know. It was off by quite a lot. Northview fixed that as well. Bottom line, I presented all my insurance information to your staff, and you didn't run it or tell me you wouldn't run it. Eventually, my insurance did get involved at MY prompting. I reported you to the State of Wisconsin as well. Insurance said you could run it through correctly and then they could cover it. You refused. You should have done the right thing and chose not to. You still would have gotten your money from my insurance company. You dug in your heels and chose not to run the claim correctly. All I can do is inform others of the truth, which hasn't changed since it happened years ago. I had sincerely hoped you would have learned by now that treating the public the way you treated me, is not good for business. Sadly, it seems you haven't. Also, replying to my review with outright lies doesn't boost your credibility with anyone. You messed up. We all do, but you need to admit it and move on.
