Garbage product. Tore a large hole in the toe of my brand-new Irish Setter workboots. Doing *yard work*. The store offered to sell me a $50 plastic cap to cover the tear, or a tube of glue to stick the torn part back on. No thanks -- it would just be sunk costs. The leather on the boots appeared to be thinner than on my dress shoes. Will not be back. read more

I purchased a pair of Redwing Safety Hiker boots in 2012 they were made in 2006 and sat in the store for six years they were in my closet in their original box; I never wore them. I had a job that required safety boots. when I put them on, the sole fell apart. For a company that states their boots Made in the USA will last a lifetime. and then will not stand behind their Boots this is sad. I have purchased Redwing boots for 37 years from the same store in Monterey on lighthouse. When I brought them in, they said that they were in storage too long. they cannot help me in any way. The boots are great. The service, phenomenal. Buying a good pair of boots is expensive so getting the right ones are vital. The employees there put me at so much ease. They went above and beyond to make sure my purchase was worth it. They ordered the boots I wanted in multiple sizes. I tried them on and walked around while they asked me questions. I started off unsure and by the end I was positive. I even learned things about my feet I never knew :) This process was over the course of 3 weeks. Yet each and every time they were awesome. If you've spent any amount of time working retail, you know a good pair of shoes is mandatory. I'd simply come to expect that a decent pair of casual dress shoes would last between 6mo and 1yr. But that's simply not true when you have a Red Wing Shoe Store nearby... I've three pairs of Red Wing's lasting the past 6yrs and have never found any reason to complain. You'll pay for new inserts (of course) but they replace laces, condition the leather and correct any emerging defects as part of their warranty. The folks working here can be over-tasked at times - these are the go-to shop for steel-toe boots and they can get swamped on weekends. But I've never had anything but friendly service and quality from these ladies. Styles here might be considered mundane, but from a pragmatists' world view, they're easily the best shoe I've ever owned. read more

We walked into Redwing looking for a reason to buy Wolverine Thousand-Mile Boots. That is certainly not what we found. When you're leaving on a two year trip around the world, you don't have a lot of money to throw around. But you also know that your boots are the thing between you and the ground, and you actually have 14,000 miles to go to circle the globe. Between the quality of the craftsmanship, the materials, and the free maintenance and repairs available at Redwing shops in multiple continents, Mike sold us the right boot for the job. Mike also broke out the bunion tool to aid in breaking in the boot, which is otherwise an extremely painful process when your feet are as deformed as my cute boyfriend's. Went in there to get a shoe oil and a brush. Marissa was very helpful and informative. She asked me which style of shoes that I was going to take care of because she wanted to make sure I got the right products. She told me that they can polish the shoes for me for free so I didn't even have to buy the shoe oil and brush. She also told me about warranty which I didn't know about. Very impressive! I suppose I can't complain too much about the Red Wing work boots that I got from here. I just have one pair and will probably just stay at one pair because I am more of a tennis shoes type of person. I got a pair of Red Wing shoes much like what my dad gets and seemed just a bit surprised at the traction when a little bit of use starts showing up on them. I was surprised and almost horrified that when walking on slick and wet surfaces I very nearly wiped out because of the traction. I have had it happen several times since the encounter on the wet surface ( the first time which happened to be on a bridge) and started wondering how my dad could irrigate when the traction started going out. Perhaps the real flaw here is on my part and that I should have asked the salesperson for a pair of Red Winged brand of shoes that did have good traction. Still I wonder how my dad got around in those shoes all those years... he was on plenty of wet surfaces. If I ever do decide to get Red Wings again I will make sure to get something that is known for keeping it's traction. read more

Red Wing quality use to be one of a kind. Anymore it's not even close. Bought a pair of Irish Setters metal toe Boots for work in November. They ranged me from 190.00 to 210.00. I have brought them back three or four times since November to have them oiled and to be looked at for falling apart. This last time they have not helf up well at all. Was not pleased on how i was treated, what i was told, and was asked to purchase the ssme boots for the same price to last three to four months. Way better boots out there these days. read more

I've been a red wing customer for around 6 years now. King Toe are great for those of you with wide feet like myself (EE or E2). Recently purchased 6 inch wedge sole EE at Fort Collins store. Coming from L.A. I didn't know if I would receive the same great service I get from the L.A. red wing stores (free laces, leather oil, and minor repairs). Fort Collins you are great!! The boots I brought in for repair (my fault burned stitching with sparks from grinding metal) were repaired in one day usually takes a couple of days and of course new laces and leather oil. Need tough comfortable boots Fort Collins staff will take care of you! P.S. I never yelped until now that's how good they are. Red Wing 2280 and Red Wing 296 highly recommended. read more

This weekend, I went in to pick up a pair of Red Wing Heritage Blacksmith 3343s in preparation for the fall/winter. Unfortunately the location didn't have the specific pair that I wanted, but they had another pair in a different color. I was able to try them on, and figure out the size that felt best. The store was then able to order the pair that I wanted from the factory in Minnesota and have them drop-shipped to my apartment. I also had an issue with the address they were sending them too but I was able to call the store and they were kind enough to fix the error! The in-store experience was good and the salespeople were very helpful and nice. My only concern was their product knowledge. I'm assuming that this specific location doesn't sell very much of the Heritage Line, which are more of a fashion boot than a true work boot. The Heritage boots tend to run large. I wear a 10 or 10.5 in most shoes, but I have to size down to a 9.5 in the Heritage line. Most of the Red Wing salespeople I've met in their factory stores know that the Heritage boots run big, but the salesperson sized me in a 10.5, and recommended a 10.5 or an 11. Without seeming rude, I suggested a 9.5 and it ended up being perfect. She didn't seem too put out, but I'd say take a look at online reviews of the product you're looking to purchase, and go in with some knowledge of your own to compare against the salesperson's. Bonnie has tremendous knowledge and has always been so helpful in helping me pick the correct boots. My husband and I both love our Red Wings. We have turned a few friends on to the Fort Collins store. They oil your boots and replace the laces whenever you need them. Keeping the boots oiled makes all the difference. My husband has had minor repairs done to various pairs of boots FREE of charge- restitching and the like. All the boots are different and not all are made in the US anymore, but we have found spending the extra to buy the US ones will make a pair last longer. I am still on my first pair (3 years old) my husband is on his 4th pair (in 5 years), but still has his old pairs as "backups". Before he was going through 2 to 3 pairs a year. Someone else mentioned the traction. The soles are very different on certain styles. I have Vibram soles and they are really good on slick surfaces. Bonus for us is they do carry styles with puncture resistant soles. My husband had a pair of regular work boots and stepped on a nail this was the experience that sent him into the store initially. Red Wings are a lot cheaper than the Urgent Care visit! read more
