I was there today to find a matching wallet & purse. I took a wallet over to see if it matched. I put the wallet down by the purse, decided to think about it and made one more loop around the store before exiting. I got half way across the parking lot when an employee came hoofing across the parking lot and accused me of stealing the wallet - I told him it was by the matching purse and went back in the store to show him. He didn't apologize, not at all. I was humiliated and will never ever go back. I've shopped local for years to support this store, but I can order on line just as easy, and will.

This is a large and spacious Famous Footwear that's stand-alone and located about a block from the…read moreMerle Hay Mall. It is not inside a mall like many Famous Footwear stores are. There's plenty of parking outside of the building. The interior is very clean and very large. Everything was surprisingly clean and mostly in its place. We didn't have issues locating shoes or shoe sizes, and there was a nice dispersion of shoe sizes for every style we checked out. (Like, not a ton of 10's with no 8's or anything like that). The bench areas were clean, and there were no half-tried-on shoes strewn about the place. The foot socks were well-stocked and ready to use. Again, very well-organized and clean. Famous Footwear regularly offers sales which is good because their prices, while under MSRP, are still higher than some places. Make sure to check their website to print out a coupon (or access on your cell phone) while there. They also have their Famous Footwear Rewards program which gives you gift certificates after you hit certain spending thresholds. At this particularly time, they were having a BOGO50% off Clearance event which could be stacked with any of your Famous Footwear Rewards Certificates and a 15% off your total purchase available on their website. It brought a bill which was $155 for three pairs of shoes down to $105. They have a decent availability and selection of shoes. There were clearance shoes in children's, men's, and women's. There was a LOT more selection in women's shoes (over 6 fixtures worth) than in men's (2 fixtures). Things were well-organized by size, though, and actually in their proper place. Clearance shoes don't come with the shoebox lid, though, which is surprisingly annoying. You wouldn't think so, but it means all the shoes fell out of their boxes once placed in the shopping bag. There was a single employee working here which seemed perfectly suitable. We were in there about an hour, and we saw about 6 customers come and go. There was never a line. The employee was very friendly and greeted us when we came in. She came and checked in about every 20 minutes or so, but she was never hovering or trying to be overly helpful. She seemed to make a point of cleaning/tidying things far away from us to give us privacy to choose our shoes. She was very friendly during check-out as well. She even caught that their system didn't price one of our shoes correctly and fixed it herself without being asked. Great customer service here. I did use the restroom while I was here, and they have a single-bathroom style for both sexes. The bathrooms are probably the least "in repair" thing in the building. It's obvious they've put some time into the storefront and the retail area, but the bathrooms look outdated. However, they're still really clean and definitely usable. Final thoughts: This is a nice Famous Footwear with friendly service. They have a decent selection, and it's very clean and easy to navigate. It can be a bit expensive to just come here and impulse buy a pair of shoes, but if you're aware of their deals and do a slight amount of checking-up before you come shop, you can get away with brand-name shoes at really good prices. Got home to find that it was missing the Delta plate it needed to attach the piece necessary to clip into the exercise bike. My wife called the store this morning and spoke to a supervisor to which he told my wife that they have the piece she needs that was missing and that they would not be able to mail it to us but instead will HOLD IT at the store for us which is 3 hours away at gas being $5 a gallon. 6 hours round trip for a small metal piece that cannot be found anywhere online including Amazon and Ebay. This is customer service? I called the store and spoke to the manager again and he told me he can't mail it and didn't give me a justified reason to why he couldn't only that "he just can't" and insisted the best they can do is hold them at the store.

They weren't overly busy but there was a good number of customers scattered around the store. I was looking for some new shoes for my 4 year old so we headed straight to that area. As I was viewing the wall of children's clearance shoes (quite the selection), a store associate asked if we needed help. Since I wasn't positive my 4 yr old was wearing the correct size, I asked if he could measure her. He said he gladly would. My daughter can be shy with strangers, especially men, but she told me right away that he was really nice and could measure her foot. After measuring her foot he asked if we needed more help. Since I didn't, we let him go on to the next customer. We were able to find some nice new shoes for her for $17. What a great deal! We looked around the store some more since I'd never been there. I found the socks my husband wears at the checkout for an additional 25% off. He goes through socks fast so I grabbed a bag of those. There was a short line at the checkout but they moved rather quickly. The associate checking us out was very nice and chatted about the crazy weather and also where he was from. It was a nice, not awkward, genuine conversation. Once I paid, the associate followed me to the door to help us out. This may sound awkward at first but I had our double stroller with us. It can be difficult to maneuver with double exit doors. I was pleasantly surprised at him following to help. You just don't see that much. I really hope they continue their great customer service.
