the stylist spent 10 minutes on my men's hair cut and charged me 45 dollars. ridiculous. a supreme lack of care , technique, and know-how.

I just called to book an appt to get highlights done the 1st week of July. I spoke with someone named Jillian and wow, from the start I noticed a bit of an attitude. I mentioned Id like to book with Monica and before I could say anything else she quickly and with a tone told me Monica hasn't worked there in YEARS. OK, no problem. Well I would still like to book since the salon got good reviews. We settled on a date and a person. When I asked the price for the service, I simply said, "oo thats pricey". Her comment was "well, it is Whitefish and maybe I should look to Kalispell if those prices were too high". I mentioned that I didnt care for her attitude that I detected from the start. Gladly,I will look elsewhere. Jillian... kindness and less of an attitude would be appeciated! read more

I booked appointments on short notice for haircuts for both my husband and me. We both ended up with Linda who did a great job on both of us. She has tons of experience and knows what she's doing. I'm always nervous trying a new stylist because my thick, course hair can be tricky to cut. Linda took her time, and I left with a fresh and cute cut. Don't hesitate to book with Linda. She listens, and she'll take great care of you. read more

Love Nancy. She has been doing my hair for years. There's a great brow service too. veryone who works there is great. Good vibe!

The stylist take their time with you. Gillian is my girl! Even though I'm only there a couple of times a year she treats me like I'm a weekly client. read more

Great haircut from Ruthie who was very patient with all of my requests! She did a great job with my fine, hard-to-manage hair!

I've been to Red Union a handful of times and love the space. Today I had my first cut with Ruthie and I'm so pleased. She was incredibly friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. She really listened to my thoughts and gave great suggestions in return. I'm very happy with the cut and appreciate that Ruthie took the time to give me a little tutorial on a styling tool that I recently purchased. Overall - great experience and I look forward to returning to Ruthie for my next cut! read more

I love my cosmologist, Sadie. She gives me the hair style and color I want. She is timely and efficient. I recommend Sadie.

Let's just say I had a hair disaster, and Monica changed my life! I had shaved all my hair off, and the grow in stages were pretty rough. I lost confidence, and didnt feel like myself. Monica completely transformed my hair. I had this brassy, weird copper tone from leftover henna (hence the hair shave) and Monica mastered this beautiful champagne blonde that has held up great! Not only was she courteous and fun to work with, Monica went above and beyond to accomodate my crazy schedule, and get me to feeling more like myself. I HIGHLY recommend this amazing stylist! read more

Traveling through Montana and needed a partial highlight and haircut as I have been away from home and my long time hair stylist for several months. I was able to make a next day appointment with Michelle. She did a nice job on my hair, and the price was reasonable. Also enjoyed the conversation about this beautiful area. I'd recommend Red Union. Thank you! read more

I was very impressed with this salon! I'm in the area on vacation and desperately needed to have my hair done. I was nervous about trying something new but thought I'd give it a shot. The area and salon were very nice and stylish and everyone was super friendly. What really got me so excited about this place was my stylist, BAILEY, she was amazing! She's one of the newer stylist to this salon but very experienced. I'd leave my long time hair dresser back home for her!!! Highly recommend requesting Bailey and highly recommend this place. read more

Sadie is great! She's been fixing my hair since another fried it ten months ago! Can't say enough for her! Love the new place.

Had a great appointment with Bryce while visiting from out of town. He was professional, efficient and did a superb job. Wish I lived closer as I'd come again read more

I am a beauty snob. It's my industry. Moving to a new town and finding a new hair stylist is hard. Especially since I usually show up with Pinterest pictures of cuts + colors that small town stylists haven't had a chance to learn. Brandi nailed, like seriously nailed a perfect sandy minked blonde and slightly jagged long bob Best cut + color I've ever had and I've grown up in salons. Bring a picture. Know what you want. She'll steer you towards the best version for yourself. I walked out of there with perfect Kate Moss on a good day hair, which is my go to. read more

Having recently moved to the valley and left behind my hairdresser of 18 yrs it's been hard to find someone new. First haircut at another location didn't go well but then I discovered Linda here at Red Union. She talked thru my curly hair challenges and put me completely at ease. Awesome haircut and I now have someone here to go to. read more

Michelle was so incredible ....I have moved here from Boston a few years ago and live here and Canada. My hair and skin was not used to these dry conditions and hard water and she addressed that along with starting me on a program. My hair has never been this soft and silky since I left the east. Thanks Michell you have a long time customer!! read more

A little over a year ago, I went from super long hair to a severe botched cut done in California that left me feeling miserable and insecure for too long. I was terrified to get my hair cut again because it took so long to grow out even after an entire year. I finally worked up the courage to go to Gillian at Red Union because I knew of her and had been to her forever ago when I was little. She not only took the time to thoroughly hear all of my fears and concerns, but she explained exactly what she was going to do and made sure I was comfortable. She did such a good job that I even went back a week later to have her cut even more off because her ability to layer was excellent and I felt like I could trust her. Overall, I highly recommend Red Union, their atmosphere is so welcoming and Gillian is truly one of the best hair stylists I have ever had. Thank you, Gillian!! read more

Monica St. Peter is an amazing colorist and a very artistic haircutter! Love, love, love!

I had Bailey cut 7 inches off my hair. She was super friendly and had awesome style. I was sold with my hair when I left (I think because it was styled). But when I washed my hair for the first time, I noticed that it is uneven and definitely not what I wanted. I wanted something easy and blunt/messy. It looks so bad on the ends. Not blended well. I am sooo frustrated because I'd been indecisive about cutting it and finally did it. I trusted the stylist and now I hate it. I cannot straighten it or wear it naturally. The only way it looks good is curled or in a ponytail. I'm going to get it fixed by another salon. read more

I have Sadie Anderson as my hairstylist and I'm SO thankful! The woman is an ARTIST! Thank you for taking your time to make sure I am happy. I have been going to hairstylist for over 20 years and I've never found someone so Conscientious. I'm comfortable in recommending her to anyone. read more

MONICA! I have searched high and low for someone as talented, efficient, and all around awesome as Monica. She is an incredibly skilled stylist and really listens to you when you're describing what you want- then she gets to work. I get the best haircuts of my life in under 30 mins (including wash and blowout). She's a stylist wiz and supper sweet and entertaining while working her magic. I have curly hair and like for it to be cut with a razor but that's nothing for her skill set, she's the absolute best! She's also crazy talented when it comes to coloring hair, I am so sad that I'm moving because I will never replace her. If you're new to town or just visiting book Monica for your next appointment, you will so happy you did! read more

Monica is such a gem!! She listens to exactly what you want and delivers! Also she's hilarious and so fun to be around. Every time I've gotten my hair done with her it feels healthy and fresh afterwards, which is tricky to do when you're a blonde going blonder! Thank you Monica!! read more

Red Union Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Whitefish, Montana

I booked an appointment for my daughter for a haircut the day of my hair appointment. Each time when I arrived no one acknowledged me or even said hello. I sat for over 15 minutes until a stylist came to me and noted she was running at least 15-20 minutes late and we could go upstairs for coffee. We waited a few minutes, when upastairs for a cupcake and coffee and she stylist was still not ready and at this point she was over 1/2 hour late. I am very disappointed in their customer service, and general unfriendly behavior. The salon is dark, dank and its clear that even though they are the most 'popular' place in town, they have outgrown their britches!! I can see by the empty chairs that this business will continue to go downhill unless they do something fast, total bummer!!! read more

Brandi is the BEST. She really listens to what you want and is honest with how she thinks it will look. I loved my new haircut so much that my mom went back the next day to get hers done from her. She takes her work very seriously and loves what she does. read more

Best Schwarzkopf stylist in the west is here at Red Union Salon in Whitefish. Gillian is incredible. If she's not available (she is usually booked solid for weeks) Sadie, Stephanie and Kristi are great as well. All around my fav in the valley. read more

Was heading up to the Chiropractor when I looked down and saw this salon. It is in the lower level of the Toggery. It has a high end salon feel without the high end prices. I was in desperate need of a hair cut, since I've only had my hair cut twice since I've moved from NE over a year ago. Booked a cut with Nancy that afternoon. She did a great job took off what was needed and still left me with shoulder length healthy hair. I love the versatile style. Highly recommend Nancy. Booked another with her 7 weeks from now. read more

If you are looking for a wonderful Manicure and a bomb-shell Blow-Out, Melissa and Brandi are your ladies! I am so happy that Melissa joined the Red Union team. She did an absolutely incredible Manicure, two weeks later, I am still receiving compliments. I highly recommend her services and I will definitely be returning. Brandi not only gives your hair a rockstar Blow-Out that lasts for days, she also gives the absolute best head massage during your service. All for $25. I am a regular and highly recommend her, especially if you are looking for a hair style that will last for days during your vacation or regular work week! read more

This was my first time here, and let me tell you, it was great! I hadn't had anything done to my hair in well over a year (horrible I know) so Monica really had her work cut out for her. Amazing experience! After being "botched" & totally tramatized by other salons in the area my facial lady told me to check out the red Union. I made a consult appointment w/Gillian & Monica about my grey, ash, copper blonde highlight botch & they were very knowledgeable on what my next steps were to correct the botched blonde highlights gone way wrong!!! Monica did a fantastic job on the cut & deep condition glaze! Love my hair! Based on their recommendation I am giving my hair a couple more weeks to "heal" then I will go back for the real blonde highlights. They have a new customer for life! Highly recommend them you won't be disappointed or botched like I have been for the past two years. read more

If you want to get continual compliments of "Your haircut is HOT!", then Brandi's your girl! Awesome high/low lights and a short haircut that looks awesome right up until the day you go back for the next! Thanks for making me look good, Brandi! And for shellac nails Melissa is amazing! She never makes you wait, plus the polish will last 3 weeks if you want! Natural looking and beautiful! Love Brandi and Melissa. Love Red Union Salon! read more

I went in this morning, needing an extreme change with my hair, and Daniel NAILED it! It's hard not to have expectations, and being a meticulous artist myself, I often find myself disappointed...but I am absolutely in love with my new hair. It's better than the reference photo I brought it! One thing that I really liked about the salon as a whole, is everyone seems like they are a team...helping one another out with ideas and advice...great vibes in that place for sure. I will definitely be going back to Daniel next time :) thanks!! read more

Linda is the BEST! I am new to the area and have gone to 2 other people to do my hair and it was terrible. I walked in extremely nervous, but almost immediately I new this was the girl for me. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she got me there! She explained every step of the process and really cared about the integrity of my hair. Perfect cut and balayage, I will absolutely be going back to Linda! read more

Above and beyond. Michelle gave me the best hair cut I have had in years. I live in NYC and don't get my hair cut very often while I'm home visiting. That is definitely going to change and I can't wait for my next cut with her this summer. It should also be noted that the products she uses are very high quality and smell delicious. Thanks Michelle! read more

You guys. I just left here, and my hair, which is normally thick and ridiculous, looks amazing. I went and saw Bailey after I saw the review, and she's literally everything I was looking for. I'm working on growing out my hair right now and she did a terrific job layering and thinning it out to a manageable level. I love it. So excited to finally find someone local to go to! read more

We loved this salon for my recent wedding. We had our nails (and pedi) done by Kristi and and Tara they did a beautiful, professional job. We were running late (twice) and they worked with us to get the job done (even fitting in a gel manicure last minute). We were so busy and running around like mad women trying to put our wedding together, and everyone at the salon put us to ease with their professional but relaxed manner. Stephanie did our hair for the event and did an absolutely beautiful job that exceeded my expectations! I didn't know what I wanted for my day of hair (and I had a difficult hair piece to work with), but after a consultation I would not have done it differently. I am so thankful to the Red Union gals for the wonderful work they did to make our hair and nails look lovely and for helping me feel confident and beautiful on my wedding day. Stephanie also gave my sister a last minute gorgeous cut that made serious waves at the rehearsal dinner. My sister's only regret is that she doesn't live in Whitefish for Stephanie to maintain it!!! We highly recommend this salon for mani, pedi, cuts and styles - including wedding day styles by Stephanie. Did I mention its extremely reasonable?! read more

I was a client of Gillian for 5 years and EVERY single time I left the salon, I absolutely loved my hair. The only reason I stopped going is that I moved 10 hours away and sadly I STILL haven't been able to find someone who has the same level of professionalism and artistry. I loved sitting in her chair and letting her work her magic! If you are in Whitefish....this is the ONLY place to go. read more
