So our group was really excited to try this place because of the wonderful reviews that the place received. So I'm not sure if we went on an off night, we're not really the crowd they cater to, or because they changed the menu, but we weren't really impressed even though everyone really tried their hardest. We shared the crispy seafood (a bit chewy), trio of dips (pretty good), sliders (decent, but not really the food you're looking for when going out for a nicer dinner). The cocktails received mixed reviews from our group, but we all agreed that they are creative. The spot is nicely decorated and has a lot of potential, but they really need to decide what type of place they want to be, a dinner spot or a place for drunken and late night eats.

Red thread has been on my list to visit for a while now and we tried it this past Saturday with a party of eight celebrating birthdays. They have such a fun and cool vibe inside. Very lounge like. It is a restaurant and then it does turn into a lounge/club at night. The service was pretty good for a large party! Our drinks were really good and so were our dinners! We would love to come back and sit at the bar for a drink and app. Their menu is very limited but it's also nice to not have a million options to choose from. Our dinner reservation was at 7:15 and at 9 PM sharp they start the DJ so you can barely hear yourself so just keep that in mind when you're booking a dinner reservation.

RED THREAD | St. Pete's Culinary Hidden Gem When the lighting is sultry, the vibe is magnetic, and the flavors dance with global flair, you know you've stepped into Red Thread in downtown St. Pete. We started with the Oasis Trio, and let me just say, that pillowy naan was the ultimate dip companion. From the silky baba ghanoush to the beet whipped labneh and the bright olive tapenade, every bite hit different. And the cocktail? That red dirty martini was everything. Bold, briny, and slightly mysterious, with just the right kick. It matched the moody vibe perfectly and might be my new favorite sip. The Lamb Tagine was fall-off-the-bone tender, nestled in a broth full of warm Moroccan spice, golden potatoes, and soul soothing veggies. Served with fluffy couscous and crowned with a savory olive and chickpea stew that tied it all together. And then, wow, the Beef Short Rib. Melt in your mouth, layered with curry and cardamom chèvre over saffron rice. Decadent but grounded. A true comfort dish with an elegant twist. But the real surprise? The decor. Velvet curtains, lantern light, deep jewel tones, and yes, rugs on the ceiling. It's dramatic in the best way. They've also got a side room perfect for private parties, and the patio out front will be absolutely wonderful when it cools down--I can already picture slow sips and good conversation under the stars. Service by Katie was top-notch & excellent! Elevated. Enchanting. Unforgettable.

I've been wanting to try red thread and was not disappointed. The restaurant itself was gorgeous inside, the design is dark, moody and cozy. Pros: the service was amazing, all the shareable dishes are great portions that I felt we really got a bang for our buck. The falafel and fried olives were some of the best apps I've had in a while. The drinks are unique and I really enjoyed my tahini Mai tai. My husband loved the short rib, he said it was the best short rib he's had in a while, very flavorful and tender. Cons: the seating is a bit tight, for a date night we were put about 1 foot away from another 4 top table and it ruined ambiance a bit for me. I think if they rearranged and spaced out a little more it would feel better in there. The date salad came highly reviewed by our server but I was left with much to be desired, it was a salad I could have made at home for a lot cheaper. Overall, drinks and shareable apps are a must, Im excited to come back and try the apps I didn't get!

New spot in a prime location. It delivers everything you want from a Downtown destination. Good vibe with eclectic decor indoor and outdoor good looking drink menu with new and classic options. Would probably recommend making a reservation if you plan on eating because we didn't have one. We had to sit at the bar so service was... enough. This place is a fusion spot the theme is everything from the Mediterranean to the middle east... the prices are what you would expect for type location but with the quality I'm not upset. The food is great we had the oasis trio to start which is toasted pita bread and 3 house dips it was tasty the bread probably the star. Then we had the kafta which are the se little circles of "mince" meat wrapped in puff pastry like slices beef wellingtons but with almost gyro meat in a rich yogurt sauce with pomegranates overall, it was very delicious. The meat was juicy and melted in your mouth and the bread crispy in the sauce. Add just enough richness Ta and also sweetness with the addition of the pomegranates adding that fresh burst of sweet. It worked very well. Lastly we had the short ribs which were cubes of beef that will cook perfectly in a type of curry sauce on a bed of rice. It was great but for a dish like this, you could probably get better at an actual Indian restaurant but for a cocktail Lounge, this was amazing. Overall would recommend coming by for drinks and a bite. Oh and tiramisu for dessert was light and delicious nit sure ive had better.

Wow! What an incredible dining experience. This restaurant has apparently been open for six months but I only heard of it recently. It's a bit nondescript so you might walk past it. It's a fusion restaurant that serves cuisine found on the spice trail. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Katherine was an incredible server who was able to answer all questions and make recommendations. If you are looking to try new dishes, this is the place to go!

Definitely will return for the atmosphere, service and the foods. The bougainvilleas are in full bloom, and they've a lot of it. This fusion restaurant opened in Jan 2025. Before it was a law firm then vacated for three years before they moved in. Indoor and out sections, onion arches, booths, tables and corners; light color hardwood floor (or lookalike), tapestry... and the snakes, on the walls and as the door handles and hocks in the bathroom. Slick utensils (might be a little hard to grasp with big hands and chubby fingers), elegant earthy plates, the stems could have been better. The Rioja is great. We haven't had Taj Mahal beer for a good few years - thanks for serving it.  I like their menu a lot: simple and less (is more!) We went early before the opera. There was only one young lady serving, who is genuine, pleasant and professional. All the foods we've are very flavorful: Falafel w/ naan bread Kafta en croute Squash kibbeh I couldn't jam the tiramisu down - one more incentive to return. Btw, my last fusion restaurant review (initial 3 star) landed me in a lawsuit - yes the restaurant sued me. Tampa Bay Times published a balanced front-page story this past Sunday, (online 6/4, on paper 6/8) https://www.tampabay.com/life-culture/food/2025/06/04/hales-blackbrick-sues-yelp-reviewer-restaurants-tampa-bay/ - can't wait to see the fate of this review, pun intended - red thread fate 红线 means marriage alliance in Chinese.

Headed back to Red Thread after attending the soft opening in February- we were so impressed! The vibe is still upscale, sensual and intimate. The food was delicious- the chicken and short rib were both tender, flavorful and portioned generously. The service was amazing, our waiter was ON IT with making sure our waters were always filled and was honestly super friendly and conversational, great vibes!

Went here on a whim with my parents. They were extremely impressed! The atmosphere is very nice. Gorgeous interior. The weather was nice, so we sat outside in the patio instead. I was worried it might be too dark, but they had enough light for us to sit and relax. The food was amazing! I'm impressed at the amount of mocktails they had. There were definitely enough options if you want vegetarian. There's also Wi-Fi at the restaurant which is always nice. Requires no password too. You just log-in. Amazing evening!

This place is definitely high-end. Would make for a nice celebratory dinner. The ambience and decor is very nice and well thought out. It definitely is expensive, which is why I'm knocking a star. I got 1 drink and my sister and I each got an entree and our bill before tip was $96. The food was very good, but I did not leave feeling full which is why I don't think the price is justified. Our server was very attentive. The place overall is just pricey.

Came here on opening day and it did not disappoint! Made a reservation on Resy for 4:30pm, and arrived to a completely empty dining room. We were seating outside, which was an odd choice, but it was lovely weather and we didn't mind. Because it was opening week, they mentioned they had a limited menu and would be serving us two appetizers and a salad, and were given the choice between the beef short rib curry and the chicken bisteeya for an entree. I did not know it would be a limited menu when we arrived, which was disappointing, however they comped the food portion of the meal to make up for it, which was more than generous. Now to the food/drink review: The stuffed olives were a standout! They were lightly deep fried, which was a surprise. Perfect balance of light and crispy fried coating, feta stuffing, and salty olive. It came with a creamy sauce and chili oil that really made it pop. We asked for a second order and they kindly obliged. The break bread was a fun and interactive appetizer experience. Vibrantly colored legume hummus and muhammara and a crispy bread that you break to make chips. Very well balanced and flavorful. The cabbage and cucumber salad was beautifully light and fresh and the papaya was not overpowering. The dressing reminded me of the fish sauce found in a traditional Thai green papaya salad. Absolutely lovely. In our group, we shared our entrees so we could taste everything. The beef short rib curry was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked beef short rib with a curry sauce on one side, cardamom chèvre and melon kimchi on the other. Fantastic balance of flavors and textures. The chicken bisteeya was full of a delicious blend of spices and was sandwiched between phyllo. Light and flavorful and absolutely delicious. Now for the drinks! In our crew we got two drinks each and tried each others (of course). Here is my ranking of those we tried. 1. Desert Rose - sweet/sour/light rose flavor 2. Spiced Trail - the tomato MAKES this cocktail 3. Coffee Date - solid espresso martini with unexpected black salt topping 4. Pink Meditini - looks like a hot pink cosmo, tastes like a dirty martini 5. Silk Road - sweet, fruity cocktail 6. Tahini Tiki - their version of a mai tai that was pretty flavorless IMO 7. Phoenician Mule - last just because I dislike anise. I am very much looking forward to eating here again once the full menu is open. The space is beautifully decorated and the bar is a standout with the colorful threaded lighting across the length of the bar. This is definitely a maximalists dream!

We came to Red Thread excited for middle eastern cuisine. Unfortunately, they changed their menu 2 weeks ago and it's no where even close to middle eastern food. They now serve chicken wings, loaded fries, chicken parm, Philly cheesesteaks, and fish and chips to name a few. According to our server they were going for a more "lounge" vibe. Totally fine but not what we were expecting or wanting. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because the drinks were still the same and delicious!

Ambiance: classy & sexy. Moroccan Casablancan Indian ambiance. Great lighting. Cozy booths tucked away for romantic dining. Drinks: loved the med-Tini- made with pink pickled turnip. If u like dirty martinis, this is amazing. Goes perfectly w the app Trio. Pretty pink color! Coffee Date- best espresso martini in st Pete. Uses cardamom and a little salt that makes it unique & the best (even better than Mandarin Hyde) Red thread old fashioned: very good. Tastes like a cinnamon roll- well balanced. Food: the oasis trio is perfect! Baba ganoush, yummy olives, and pink hummus are excellent. Needed extra order of naan bread. The kafta de crute is very good too! Very flavorful. It's like a mix of beef and lamb on a pastry on a bed of yogurt that is similar to baba ganoush. The kernels of pomegranate brightens the dish along with the pine nuts. Savory! Excellent waiter!

The workers knew exactly what they were doing and even in busy time of the market they were quick to buss tables, get ordered items to customers fast and the bathroom was pristinely clean. The bumping A/C provided instant relief as we claimed the stools by the bar. My friends and I quickly agreed, this place is an absolute gem. The restaurant is located in the ground floor of the Tru by Hilton Hotel. Parking wasn't an issue during our visit because it was an early Thursday evening, so street parking on Central was available, but I can imagine it being a little challenging on busier nights. Loved the quirky, kind of all-over-the-place decor here. Vintage fixtures and mismatched furnishings all come together to deliver a warm, charming space that feels like anything-but a hotel restaurant bar. Lots of love for the cocktails here, too. We tried the Golden Hour, the Metal Plane, and the Strawberry Paloma. Golden Hour was my favorite, though the flavor wasn't quite consistent between my first and second ones. Also, they make a VERY good Espresso Martini for anyone who enjoys those. For food, we tried the Beef Empanadas, the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, and the 1650 Burger. All were tasty, but I think the burger turned out to be the best bang for the buck -- it's a huge portion for only $13 and it's delicious! The chicken sandwich was tasty, but the Gochujang sauce was a little sweeter than I thought it would be. Lots to like about the empanadas, too -- the beef is deliciously seasoned and the outer pastry is light and crusty. Great appetizer or meal, depending on how hungry you happen to be. To top it all off, we had very friendly service from start to finish. We'll definitely be back!
