Red Sun has been a staple for me since I moved to Indiana in 2016. When I first moved here, I didn't know anyone, had no family to lean on, and was so stressed with the jarring life changes in comparison to South Mississippi. I used to be so codependent when it came to eating meals as it was one of the things that helped me overcome my eating disorder and kept me accountable. I walked into Red Sun on a whim and by chance, AND LET ME TELL YALL HOW MUCH I LOVE IT. Legitimately every single time I go to greenwood, I stop by. My best friend from indy is very much a chicken nugget a day keeps her food anxiety at bay type of girl. I forced her to come with me. She eats it every time she comes back to indy with me. The girl up front I stg I've watched her go from late high school through college. The cook in the back with helly tats (btw if you single holler at me my guy) is phenomenal and so precise with his skills. I know it's going to delectable. How have I never been here before?? We ordered two hibachi meals - teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef and were very happy with the taste, service and experience picking up a to-go order. The food is flavorful, you can add or modify the vegetables you want and it was ready in no time. This seems to be a favorite for locals - it was really busy on a Saturday night and I saw some people eating sushi, which looked good even though I am not much of a seafood fan. I think that's definitely a specialty based on how many people were ordering it. This is going to be my new go-to take out spot for sure. read more

Our family loves Red Sun. Their food is delicious, their service friendly and efficient, and their prices amazing. The people are very kind, warm and welcoming and very patient for newcomers lol. The food is very flavorful and delicious not greasy and made fresh. The only thing that I complain about is for $25 I would imagine having enough for leftovers which is sadly not the case here but the food is very delicious and so the staff is very welcoming. The restaurant is very nice and clean and they are cleaning up after their customers frequently. That's why I gave it four stars. read more

Nothing fancy, but super quality food. I had the General Tso's lunch special. The best that I've had in a very long time. Great flavor, perfect crunch to the chicken. The Bento Boxes looked amazing. I happened to stumble on Red Sun purely by mistake coming home from my new job. I decided to stop and check it out since my husband was out of town, and I didn't want to cook just for myself. I walked in and found a stack of menus, so it made my selection that much easier. They have a good assortment of food and sushi. I ordered the chicken hibachi with brown rice and an order of shrimp tempura rolls. Wow, everything was really good! The sushi was fresh as well! I called in a to-go order and the food was prompt and stayed hot for my 30 minute drive home! My toddlers have never tried hibachi and are fairly picky, but they tried the chicken hibachi and LOVED IT, so THANK YOU, Red Sun The chicken hibachi is also my go-to, with white sauce of course! Smacks!! Chicken hibachi and chicken bento boxes is 5/5. Hands down the best Lobster Rangoon in town. We ordered pick up and it was ready in 15 minutes - super quick! Staff was friendly when we went to pick it up. There is a dinning area if you want to sit inside it's nothing special so we suggest just taking it to go! Cheers!! read more

I've had Red Sun recommended by so many people, I think maybe I had too high of expectations. Nothing necessarily bad about the place - it's fine. But I don't know if I'd go out of my way for it. I also thought this was more of a sit down restaurant, but it's quick service style -- order at the counter, get your drink, and someone brings your food to you at your table. Like I said - nothing bad really, but not truly spectacular either. I'll accept maybe I just picked the wrong items on the menu or it was an off day, as I've heard so many good things. read more

Stopped in by accident and can recommend this highly. Counter service style ordering. Very friendly staff, excellent food. We.ordered the egg drop soup (excellent), hot and sour soup (just ok), seaweed salad (as expected) and two deluxe bento boxes. I really enjoyed this spot. I've been 3 times in one week. The food is flavored well. The price is reasonable. The service is good. I've had the sushi (Miami and Tiger), the imperial hibachi (beef, chicken, shrimp, brown rice and veggies, and the beef and brown rice. Gyoza was delicious also. All of it was good. If getting take out ask for extra sauce or stop at a table before leaving and put on your food. Solid spot, you should definitely try it out. read more

I was looking for a sit down lunch spot, and I was lucky enough to find Red Sun. I was expecting your normal Chinese food restaurant, but this was a great surprise! They have sushi, bento boxes, and several other options. I had the General Tso's lunch special and spring rolls. It comes with your choice of white or brown rice and broccoli. Everything was so fresh and HOT! The general's sauce was perfect. I really enjoyed it. The service was great. Both girls that helped me were prompt, attentive, and kind. I will certainly be visiting again to try more of their food!! read more

My vegetarian husband and I went here for dinner on the advice of my coworker and we brought along a non-vegetarian friend. It is the type of restaurant where you order at the counter and then they bring you your food. They also have hibachi entrees, but do not make the food in front of you (they make it in the back and then bring it out). It was a fun experience as we tried a lot of different menu items for a fairly inexpensive price - we tried the vegetable soba, vegetable hibachi, the spring rolls, the vegetable tempura, the sweet potatoes tempura roll, and the Japanese donuts. Of all of the menu items we tried, the vegetable soba was preferred by both my husband and I. Next time, that is what we both plan to order. I did appreciate having lots of different options to choose from instead of just one vegetarian option. read more

First time to eat here and I was very impressed. Very basic interior but the food was outstanding. I got the crab Rangoon appetizer and it was as good as I've had. I wanted this to be good. The sushi roll was pretty good. We ordered 2 chicken hibachi, 2 salads, and a sushi roll. Our hibachi had no flavor, no sauce, no nothing. It was plain chicken and plain white rice. From all the pictures we've seen this should not have been how it was served. Disappointing to say the least. The ginger dressing was ginger water and ended up on the bottom of the container. Too liquidy to cling to any lettuce leaf. They have good prices so we may try again sometime and hope for flavor redemption. read more

I love this place. First the hot and sour soup is the BEST in Indiana. As good as Mark Pi's Express in Castleton! I order two every time I go here, it's THAT good. Hibachi meals are excellent. I haven't had a bad food item here including accidentally ordering a shrimp tempura appetizer that I didn't know was SUSHI (not a fan) but even THAT was actually very good! The concept for our restaurant started forming when I was a senior at IUPUI. My Father has been a chef for a few decades and we wanted to open up a restaurant in Greenwood with a different approach to serving hibachi and sushi. We are one of the few restaurants in Indy that has a fast causal type of style for hibachi and sushi. With the love and support from our customers we have been growing as a business. I also want to preface it by saying that I have dined at many Asian/Japanese restaurants before, so am well aware of typical flavors and what to expect. Picture a plate of chicken katsu curry, rice, and soup. Now imagine that everything tastes like fish. Not like a faint taste- imagine you dumped fish oil on your food and served it on a plate. Thats what my meal tasted like. The curry was gritty, and the rice was plopped into a container. The service at the restaurant wasn't much better. No greeting when walking in. I asked to place a carry out- after looking for a bit, I placed it. "Okay we got it." "How long will it be" ...other person behind the counter..."thirty minutes." Okay, I'll wait in my car for a bit- might as well not wait in the small waiting area for thirty minutes. I'm in my car for fifteen minutes...come back inside, and my food on the counter...Wow, fifteen minutes over estimation. Overall, inedible food and poor customer service. Am not interested in returning to try again at this time.
