We contracted with Jim to do a partial tear-off of our roof along with sealing around out two upper…read morewindows. The main reason we hired him was because of a wet spot on the molding on one of the windows. He completed the roof and then removed the siding to seal around the two windows. With the siding removed, he determined that sealing the windows was impossible for a reason that I didn't understand. Needless to say, the first rainstorm there was major leaking around the window that did not leak before the roofing job. I called Jim who was supposed to be out before noon on Thursday but he never showed up. I called him about four times and left messages with no response. Then the next day he called me and said that sealing around the windows was not part of the job that he had agreed to. So much for customer service! Now I have to hire someone else to fix a problem that Jim created! I would never recommend Jim Sweet Contracting!

He handled just about every aspect of the work himself, including the demo, framing, plumbing, and finish work in the bathroom, and the demolition, reclamation, decking, and railing installation on the deck. He was also very accommodating when we made changes along the way and clearly took pride in doing the job right. Called handyman back to make a plan and was "boldly told" that the price I was quoted will now be almost $150 more! How? Why? (I wish I got a name of who I spoke with, maybe it was the same guy). Sounds to me like they might just be looking for a bigger payout, upset that I called other places to compare, or maybe the price quoted depends on who answers the phone. Must be how they do their business! Either way, I was NOT paying the higher price (or ANY price), especially with the unnecessary attitude I was given on the phone. I just wanted to clarify my experience -- short and simple- you confirmed an appt you didn't keep and then decided not to accept a project/work further because my tone of frustration (of which your lack of communications was the root cause ) was not acceptable. You say you "value mutual respect and clear communication in every client relationship. " Unfortunately, you didn't even communicate until I contacted you to ask if you were still coming. You left me waiting without notification so that's already contradictory to what you value. Management then chose not to continue to work with me because they felt the tone and nature of response was not acceptable after an apology The truth is...No one called to apologize or acknowledge the no show until after I called. You can't expect to gain respect if you don't give it. Although you had an emergency at 7am (our scheduled appt was 10am), it doesn't take more than 5 sec to send a quick message to cancel. You had 3 hours to cancel an appt you couldn't make. So it is for the same reason that I prefer not to work with your company. I also value respect and clear communication which did not occur with your tone and lack of accountability in how you handled the matter. Hopefully this feedback will help future prospective clients. And best of luck to Hub Chan Remodeling. I didn't have a chance to experience their excellent work as others have yelped but hope others get to. Just confirm your appt ahead of time.
