This place is completely understaffed. My wife and I walked in around 11:00 a.m. to have a meal. The waitress dropped us off menus and took our drink order. She then dropped off the drinks and then no one returned for 15 minutes. At this point I was over it paid for the drinks and left. I will not be returning. read more

When I found out that this was a former school house that has some history and that it was moved and preserved I just had to stop by for breakfast. The place is a little red odd looking building surrounded by a gravel lot so parking is plentiful. The place is old and dive looking with cheap tabled and chairs. Fake brick is all over to round out the dive look. There is a small counter with old school stools and a generic bulk pipe set up for the foot ledge. I had a few hours of walking around a very large outside museum so I kept my breakfast simple. I ordered the 1/2 biscuit and gravy with a side of sausage. The plate looked good, see my pictures. I don't usually order Coffey but today I did and it was never more than half empty and always hot. The service was wonderful, I had two young lady's tag teaming me while I was there. I could tell by the sheen on the sausage casing that it was going to be good. The sausage was tasty and very juicy, I could have done three more. The sausage gravy had the taste/flavor that one pictures sausage gravy to be. The biscuit was on the small side but worked. The sausage gravy was creamy with just the right amount of sausage and I liked how they were generous with it, they sell it by rue cup or bowl. Overall this is a great local spot and I can see why all the locals were in the place. I would definitely stop back if I lived in the area. After reviewing my pictures for this review I noticed that I was not charged for my Coffey, I apologize for not noticing when I paid my bill so thanks for the free Coffey. read more

This place fit the bill - no web site, cash only, small, etc. We tried it today...great food, friendly staff, small eating area. This is now part of the rotation. read more

My husband and I had breakfast here. Such good food! I had bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast. Nice selection of breads. All very good. My husband had the pancake special with scrambled eggs, pancakes and corned beef hash. All very good. Wait staff very nice, but like many places, a bit short staffed for the crowd. Prepare to wait if on weekends, but worth the wait. Also, small room, but even the restaurant guests are pleasant. We will be back. read more

Just not the same since Randy left. I used to love coming here for pancakes, haven't tasted good the last few times. Today especially, they were very much undercooked. My husband ordered over easy eggs - they were more like hard cooked. Rhonda was also missed. Had to wait for coffee refills. It will be a VERY long time before coming back, if ever. Fine little establishment that preserves the atmosphere of a one room school house. The menu is balanced and simple. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the cheeseburger and chips. My wife had eggs and toast. Both arrived in good time. The coffee was fresh and tasty. I kept busy looking at the school oriented decor. Daily specials on the old blackboard. Food was great! We brought our 1 year old with and were distracted while entering so didn't see the cash only signs. The waitress let us leave to go get the money so we made sure to leave her a good tip just for trusting and knowing we'd be back. Otherwise my husband was going to leave while I waited with a crabby baby. That right there made our decision that we will be back! Not sure if the waitresses name. She was a blonde. So friendly! The food was really good, it's really cute how it used to be a school house and now it's a restaurant. The prices are low, good quality food. But the ketchup has high fructose corn syrup in it so either bring your own ketchup or don't order the fries. Everything here is so cute read more

1/29/2023.... It's changed.. the food and a lot of the old school menu options were my favorite.. some of the new offerings are also delicious... BUT-we we're just here a few weeks ago and everything was great.. ...(We are loyal customers and would come here a few times a month for the past 7+ years as our kids love the place...) BUT-the new renovations inside have the feel of a poorly remodeled strip-mall cafe... the inside of the Red School and it's quaint and aged interior were a huge part of the charm of eating here.. but it's gone.. I am quite certain that this review won't bring it back to its original design--but the cheap "cafe" interior that looks like every yupp'd up new cafe is tacky at best.. Fake barnwood-white painted everything and new age lighting that looks like it was added during an amateur weekend renovation using discount materials won't bring in more breakfast-goers. I'm glad the wait staff is still there-and we will continue to support them--but changing up a decades old restaurant loved by customers should have been left as it was---and the newish owners should have considered the loyal clientele and the aesthetic far with more care and regard to history instead of erasing it. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on our way home. I've passed it a number of times before, but never stopped. Important to note, the place has very limited seating and it is a seat yourself sort of place. For some reason, I expected it to be larger. Had a number of items; eggs, pancakes, american potatoes and biscuits and gravy. Place was clean, service was friendly, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. Costs less than other breakfast places (IHOP, Cracker Barrel) and the food/service was way better than I've experienced at those. Would definitely return if in the neighborhood when they were open. read more

Red School Cafe is great! The biscuits and gravy are the best anywhere. The sausage is the kind you can only find in the midwest. The casing has a snap to it and is filled with spicy perfection. Corned beef hash cooked perfect everytime, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pancakes are awesome, buttery goodness. People come from miles around for breakfast at the Red School Cafe, and it is worth it. It can be busy on the weekends, especially when the weather is nice enough for motorcycles to be out. Seating is limited, and at the two larger tables you will get company if there are open seats. read more

This is the best little gem in Bristol! They have a ham and cheese omelet to die for! Lots of huge thick chunks of ham off the bone inside a perfectly cooked omelet . Its the only place to go.The staff is great! Tons of local people eat there! read more

Good food at a good price, everyone seemed happy and the building was well themed to an old school house. I had the BLT Club with fries and it was tasty. Three of us had breakfast for $25.90 and we left happy. My dad said it's rare to find a restraunt where they do everything right. read more

We love this place for its ambiance and friendly staff. The food is good. My husband claims that they have the best biscuits and gravy in the area. This really is not the place to go if you are looking for "healthy" eats. I asked for a veggie skillet with more veggies and less potatoes but I didn't see any difference from what I had before - LOTS of hash browns and very little veggies. None the less, we enjoy coming here and having a hearty breakfast and a good cup of coffee. read more

Classic little farm style breakfast. Menu is short- just breakfast essentials. The wait staff is very friendly and efficient. Table was ready when we walked in. Seated at a four person table but was a bit cramped. Everyone liked their food. Coffee was decent. Fresh and the server kept our cups full. They did not use real cream nor fresh squeezed OJ. But at the prices they charge I am not surprised. I don't think you can get a better quality breakfast or lunch for any less. Everything was cooked perfectly. Over easy eggs were text book. This restaurant has been here for years. A small. Place with only about 12 tables and 10 stools at a counter. Menu is written on a blackboard at the front of the classroom. I can't really explain why I enjoy this place so much. The food is good, but honestly not significantly better than other places. Seating is pretty limited. But it's a really fun place to eat! It's an old time mom and pop place and I like watching the owners choreographing their work preparing the meals in the tiny kitchen. Great spot for brunch! I had a wonderful experience here. So why the 3 stars? Because I can definitely see where others may have issues with it. First and foremost is the size. It's very cramped so some might have to wait for a table due to the size but I guess that's part of the experience because it was once an actual school. Luckily I got there, a family was clearing out at the perfect time. Also, since it's huge on breakfast/brunch especially over the weekend, the hours are slim. Plus, there's not a huge variety on the menu but the food was good!! I got the Denver omelette and I loved it, nice and cheesy. No complaints about the food. read more
