HMC Contracting - New enclosed sunroom

HMC Contracting

(26 reviews)

I don't know how the other positive reviews came about, because our experience with HMC Contracting…read morewas pretty bad. We had our enclosed patio redone... It took forever, and once we were in the process I couldn't wait till it was over. It felt like the Three Stooges were sent to do the work. The painting had to be redone several times -- their "team" clearly had no idea what they were doing. We had to have them rebuild the door at least twice, because the quality was truly subpar. Six months later, the door is already showing age (see photo). They were careless with the space (inside the patio, and in the surrounding garden). They never cleaned up after themselves. I had to entirely cut back one of the plants behind the patio because it was so badly broken. I'd find nails and debris around outside that I would have to throw away; they brought plastic, but barely covered our patio furniture (so I did that myself); and they broke one of our side tables. Attention to detail was absent -- I've attached photos of just SOME of the trim corners that do not match up -- there are gaps instead. Chad and his son Adam were nice enough, but we were paying for something that should've looked excellent in the end. It looks OKAY (if you don't really look at the details), and it was no fun getting there. I would absolutely suggest using a different contractor.

They sent out a representatives to look at my leak and the first thing he said was thar my roof is 10 years old like that matters because the last time we had an ice storm was when they installed my roof. Google it but the ice shield should last as long as the roof. Last, the ice shield was extra when I purchased the costly engineered shingles. True 30 year shingles if installed properly. Not sure if this is a company you can truly trust or rely on. I am sure they have an excuse for every issue you experience after the fact. Good luck....

If you think about it, your roof is one of the most critical parts of your house. It plays an…read moreessential role in keeping your home safe, dry, and warm. The elements are great for the outside, but once they start to intrude inside, well, now you have a problem. This was the case for the family's home on Leslie Dr. A leak developed in my granddaughters room after a particularly heavy bout of hail and rain. This would not do. My son-in-law, being the proactive and protective father that he is, made the call. He phoned Five Points Roofing, and Darcy immediately took control of the situation. She counseled him on what information the insurance company would need and how to proceed further. Darcy was an angel. She took the worry and angst out of the process. When the day came for the roof replacement, it went off without a hitch. I was asked to be a go-between as the rest of the family were in school and working. The crew showed up bright and early. David, the crew lead man, had those guys moving. It was a well orchestrated operation. I heard them pounding away for a few hours, and then before I knew it, they were done. The pounding had stopped, and I heard them dragging the nail magnet. I walked out of the house and said to myself, "Whoa dude, they're done!" I had expected it to be a lot longer. Their clean-up was immaculate. You wouldn't have known that anyone had been there. This is a top-notch, well run operation. You shouldn't have any reservations on having them put a lid on your house. Now all we need is a good hearty rain to test their work. Quick Tip: With all the pounding and noise going on, you may want to give your pets a chill pill to keep them from going nuts. Better yet, send them to Grandma's house. She'll only have to give them treats.

The sales person was polite and not pushy, and the crew was so so professional and nice. This was not an easy job and they took it in stride. The attention to detail was outstanding, they were total perfectionists! I'm adding two before has after pics so you can see what they were up against. The driveway looks brand new!

Our experience was not the same. We worked with Three Stone to file a claim and they followed through on that part of the process; the job was to replace our shingle roof, metal roof, and downspouts and gutters. The roof went ok, with the exception of clean up (see photos attached of all the nails and metal shards). Throughout the rest of the project, there were delays, wrongly ordered material, lack of communication, lack of follow up, and length of time to complete the whole project. Similarly, the mess that has been left throughout the yard was just not been what was expected. The metal work took entirely too long (2+ weeks) and it was less than 100 sqft. The initial product delivered was wrong and we were promised three different days for install....didn't happen. They showed up on Friday, late morning, but couldn't finish because they didn't have a ladder. They didn't finish the flashing on the lower portion of the roof. They showed up late (10-11am) and then left early (by 3pm). I was also told that it would be no more than an hour and half to finish on the second day, but they ended up going into the third day (a Saturday), again which they didn't show up until late morning and were gone by 2pm... the only consolation was that it was finished. This was not an all anticipated or expected based on conversations with their "Specialists." Limited or conflicting communication, so many different people involved in the project, but it was evident that no one was talking to each other. The project is complete, but it took way too long and there were so many conversations to get answers.... And know that most of their communication is through text. Trying to get someone on the phone is nearly impossible. I could not recommend them for future customers, primarily due to the lack of communication or with the conflicting answers from so many different individuals. Just not a good experience. Further adding to this review of our experience: When Three Stone was suppose to finish the metal portion of our roof, we were unfortunately going to be out of town (this was due to their error in delivering the wrong material. It made it so that they couldn't finish when they said they were going to. Delays continued through the following week while we were away, and when we returned from our trip, they had left a large pile of debris on the front lawn. Additionally, where they dumped all the metal to install was on our lawn, which left dead spots in perfect squares all over the lawn. This experience was just poor customer service and extremely disappointing. They have our payment, so there is nothing left to do at this point. Could never recommend; limited communication, excuses, text only, and poor follow through.

We located Premier Roofing on the internet and it only took one call to get them out to the house. We wanted a premium roof and they put together a proposal for a GAF Timberline HD Architectual shingles roof system requiring 6 nails per shingle and premium GAF underlayment, edge trim, and ridge seal. The shingles are warranted to stay in place up to 130 mph. Chip and his team were easy to work with and did exactly what they promised to do, and more. Fast forward to December of 2023 when we experienced our first direct hit of a tornado in our 35 years of living here. Fortunately, the tornado lifted over the house as it passed, sparing us it's full force. We lost two 1/2 pieces of shingles that tore loose, leaving the other halves with nails on the roof. When I discovered one of the shingles and noticed where it came from, I called Chip and he sent Manny out to do a temperary waterproofing. The weather was sub-freezing and everybody had lost lots of their roofs. After the cold weather passed, Chip sent Manny out again and replaced the damaged shingles. He didn't charge us. This is a great roofing Company and I am happy to pass our experience on so others can benefit from Premier Roofing's excellent service.
