For a person who lives where there is a Starbucks on what seems like *every* corner (literally we have them everywhere we live) and a host of coffee shops as well as specialty tea places....Red Rooster in the one stop light town of Floyd rivals these places and blows most coffee places I have been to away! The daily made food is not only spot on but the coffee is an enthusiast's delight. And while visiting always a go to spot. Or should I say, a MUST. Even writing a review the smell and taste of the coffee is in my mind. Though I only get to visit Floyd this location I find to be welcoming as the people. It has a great vibe and offers a great little gift section without over doing the ketch. Again...a great place to sit relax and enjoy some conversation. read more

The service and coffee aren't great. For the price point i would expect a smile, kind words of appreciation for coming in AND coffee that doesn't taste burnt. I think this coffee shop owes its success to the popularity and novelty of this small liberal hippie town. read more

This place was exceptional! When you walk in the decor is extremely well done. It's definitely a modern hipster eclectic mix with wood and tile and metal chairs. Was very inviting to stay and hang out and drink a coffee/cappuccino. We were greeted immediately with friendly and smiley faces. Our cappuccinos were delightful. I absolutely love their logo and bought a T-shirt and a really comfortable sweatshirt. It was only $6.50 for both a large and a small cappuccino, which was a wonderful price. They roast their own beans they're and you can see the roaster in back. I wish we would've pick up some beans to go. You can totally tell that they take pride in their coffee shop! read more

Enjoyed this local coffee roaster and cafe for breakfast. We plan to go back again tomorrow. (Not many breakfast options in Floyd and even less before 10AM.) The coffee was excellent and the food delicious. The ambiance is exactly what we were looking for. Since it's a small town, it didn't have all the breakfast choices listed because they had already sold out for the day. Great place to stop while in Floyd to pick up gifts. read more

Oh baby! The smell of something ridiculously delicious coming out of the oven greet you as you walk into the Blackwater Loft, and that's just the smell! Fantastic pastries and locally baked sourdough bagels (in house made cream cheeses!) are the perfect complement to Red Rooster's coffee. Got a chocolate orange marzipan latte and plain latte both with oatmilk. Sooo good. Two scones: goat cheese and pepper (phenomenal) and cranberry thyme feta. Total price was around $20. This was our go-to coffee shop while staying in a B&B near Floyd in Indian Valley. The baristas are very friendly, and even go out of their way to bring the coffee to your table. The coffee is surprisingly very good given the remote area, with a smooth taste and no bitterness. I would definitely stop in for a cup if you're in the area. I was going to pick up a bag on our way back to PA, but they're closed on Sundays! read more

Very good coffee and breakfast bagel sandwiches. Service was a little slow, and there was not much seating.

We came with the intention of sitting out on the patio with our dog. The patio is actually a large concrete slab in front of the restaurant/store. It was 40 degrees outside and my dog didn't want to lie on the concrete, so we put her back in the car. The set up is very similar to Starbucks with a small counter where you line up to order. The coffee is fantabulous and the food is very good ! My Veg burger was a big soft bun with a small patty smothered in toppings. I would never have put that stuff on myself, but it was super yummy. Overall, I would say, bring a cushion for Fido and try your order before altering anything. The price was very reasonable considering the healthy ingredients and the care put into each item. read more

Wowza wow I wish I didn't live a whole hour away from this place. The food is soooo yummy! I thoroughly enjoyed tasting a farro salad, apricot-date-spice scone, and vanilla overnight oats. I wish I'd had room for a smoothie! The tea and coffee were great also. The decor/atmosphere is so industrial and hip, I wanted to spend my whole day there. Can't wait to go back! read more

Fantastic coffee, art, and board games--this is the perfect coffee shop that is family run in conjunction with the bookstore downstairs. The open space is decorated with an assortment of art on the walls (for sale). Comfy couches, large tables, and counter space near the window. My favorite thing about the shop is the Faces of the Loft project, which asks you to take a picture of you/&friends with a disposal camera provided. The pictures are then developed and posted around the loft! I got an iced latte that really impressed me. Straight up strong, and the coffee itself is smooth (none of the burnt stuff you find at huge chains). My friend got the One Stoplight with expresso, which turns out to be pretty syrupy but I surprisingly liked a bit of it. I don't like drinks super sweet (I don't even drink soda) so I definitely wouldn't finish one for myself. On Saturdays the shop is closed and serving coffee at the farmers market in the morning! read more

Some of the best coffee and people I've ever met at a coffee shop! Visited Floyd with my family last week from Richmond. They have an awesome set up there with everything made in house or local. I mean even the coffee syrups were made in house. The baristas and management were awesome, they went above and beyond what you would expect. Great vibe, clean, and kid friendly. Fun little family owned and operated coffee shop right in downtown Floyd next to the new farmers market site and within walking distance of art galleries and restaurants. Appropriately quirky. I had an amazing espresso drink called The Bootlegger. Wished when I was done that I had gotten the 16 oz. Alec had something else (we couldn't recall the name) which was equally wonderful. This place is simply wonderful. Cute bookstore on the first floor, and a boho decorated/themed cafe on the second floor. My friend ordered coffee and I ordered hot cocoa- I am not usually a fan of coffee, but I tried hers and it was superb! My hot chocolate was delicious (I always add cinnamon..).
