For over 5 years we knew we had a leak in our pool and over that same time period had 4 different leak detection companies out to inspect. Our pool would leak approx. 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch a day and require us to put the hose in at least once a week. Three out of those four companies claimed to have made minor repairs with puddy in the skimmer, spa, and returns.....and also claimed that should fix our problem. None did and the pool continued to leak. Since our pool gets full sun all day, we were also led to believe that it might just be evaporation. We did not believe such and even did our own bucket tests to disprove that theory.
One day this past month, we saw the Red Rhino van parked in front of our neighbor's house, so my wife walked over there an left a note on the windshield asking them to come to our house to discuss our issue. Ryan came over and actually took the time to listen to our story without formulating his own opinion. We decided to let him perform the inspection and he came back a few days later to do such. He was very thorough and dived both the pool and spa, but was unable to find anything. He set up a bucket test and came back the next day to look at the results. Sure enough, he was convinced we had a leak. He then got out his sonar / sound listening equipment and began listening under the deck for possible pipes leaking and quickly zoned in on an area where he could hear some definite leak sounds. Unfortunately for us, it was in an area where they were going to have to jackhammer the decking/concrete to get to the leak area.
We scheduled the work to be done and the following week, another young man that specializes in the repair work came out and began the work. He quickly found a pipe under the deck right where Ryan had pinpointed with his sonar equipment. The pipe was literally spewing water at a fitting where the glue joint had apparently failed or probably was faulty from the construction in the beginning. The particular joint that needed repaired was surrounded by other pipes and I personally couldn't see how they were going to be able to fix it without damaging other pipes and thus exacerbating the problem. However, the gentleman was an absolute pro at his craft and fixed the problem that day.
Despite ALL of the other companies we had used previously having advertised that they had the sonar equipment at their disposal to find leak problems, NONE of them ever went that far in the process and dismissed our problem as being small repairs that they were able to fix by applying some puddy. Red Rhino was the only company that actually wanted to get to the bottom of the problem and FIX it. I can't recommend them enough. True professionals who are dedicated to solving your leak problems.
