I have no idea why this only has 2 1/2 stars. 80 cents of all proceeds go to our vets. Way better than goodwill. We found a great selection of everything at a really great price. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. So glad we found it!! PLUS they give 25% off to all military. read more

Helping the veterans my A$$. I come here for work clothes and I can't afford to shop here. Last month I got a pair of jeans for 8 bucks today the SAME pair of jeans is $17. Manager said it was inflation. I can buy those jeans for 22 band new at Walmart. Costco brand jeans, Kirkland at 17 here. They are 12.99 brand new at Costco. T-shirts 8 bucks, button up shirts. Her response was if you don't like our prices you don't have to shop here. She said what do I expect, inflation is up gas has gone up minimum wage has gone up. So how does a 6% inflation call for 100% price increase and a rude attitude. Helping the veterans? Helping their profits! Happy veterans' day, thanks for your service, hers your bill. Let me finish by saying the ladies at the counter were very nice and courteous, the manager was just flat condescending and in caring. read more

I usually love this store. I hate leaving negative reviews but the lack of communication needs to be noted. I called the store on Wednesday the 23rd asking about the upcoming orange tag sale. I specifically asked if items marked with a vintage tag would be included in the discounted items. The female employee I spoke with said they would, in fact, be discounted. I was wanting some games I saw with an orange tag and waited all week to come pick them up. I live an hour north of St. Joseph so trips to the store are few and far between. Lo and behold the games are still there. When I saw the games rung up for full price I asked the cashier why they weren't discounted. He explained the system to me very well but I was still confused. I told him how I called earlier in the week and was told otherwise. He proceeded to talk to his manager about me in an almost condescending way (at least that's how I perceived it, I was very frustrated at the moment) and she told me the same thing. Another employee added the orange tags are used to mark the week these went out. I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SETUP. I completely understand why the items were not discounted. I am not mad at any of the employees I spoke with today for what they said or how things turned out. They did their jobs well and I hope they are doing fine. My complaint is solely on the lack of communication among them on what is and is not discounted. I was told one thing before driving all this way then told another when I got here. This is what I am frustrated about. Gas ain't cheap and I waited a week to pick these things up only to find out the worker I spoke with was either misinformed or did not confirm their knowledge before telling me about what is and is not on sale. I don't usually leave negative reviews. This is an exception as a good chunk of my free time today is taken up by driving and I have nothing to show for it. I know for next time what is an is not on sale but, frankly, this issue shouldn't have happened in the first place. They have not lost my business but I will remember this incident unfortunately. read more

They price the books too expensive. If it's used, I don't want to pay a discount off the original selling price. NO other thrift store I've ever seen does this. 15% off the new price is the same as watching an add for B&N and it's cheaper to go to a used book store than to go to this, a thrift store. That makes no sense. read more

I come here weekly. Their items are marked fairly high but they have tons of deals depending on the day. You can get some very cheap things. I get almost all my clothing here now. read more

I came from Chicago to visit some friends and of course, I was excited to see this place! There was a HUGE selection but man those prices were high!!! I'm used to thrift stores being in the $2-$5 ranges and this was more like a consignment shop than a basic thrift store. We came on a Sunday so there was a small section that had clothing for $0.25 so I found a few things in my size but, I wish I could have bought more. The staff were very friendly and social so I definitely enjoyed my time there... just lower your prices a tad bit and I guarantee more people will flood your stores!!! read more

I came here looking for vintage clothing for a disco theme party, and not only lucked out in their awesome vintage section, but found a few more clothing items I loved. They were having a sale and I got seven items in great (and new) condition for $32 with tax! I bet they have lowered their pricing since the last reviews, too, because everything was very fairly priced. It's usually hard to find good vintage that isn't severely marked up. The store was neat and organized, too. I'll be back the next time I'm in town! read more

If I could give it a negative score I would, The prices are ridiculous, 20.00 for a pair of very used stained levis. The staff will not enforce there customers to wear a mask. The store is very dirty, I will not be back. read more

One of the largest thrift stores I've ever been to tons of stuff. Sounds like they have extra discount sale days also. read more

Red Racks Thrift Store - Thrift Stores Near Me - Saint Joseph, Missouri

RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! I can not believe how rude the employees are here. They are extremely short and could not care less about you as a customer. Not to mention the fact that they are extremely over priced! I understand that the funds to this store are going to disabled veterans, but lets not overlook the fact that it's all donated. It's all used junk! Who wants to pay 2.00 for a pair of dingy old used up socks, or 8.00 for an old nasty picture frame? Do you want to pay 15.00 for a used twin comforter? I think not!!! They should hire some different employees with actual people skills, and lower the prices a tad. I'm sure in the long run it would help bring in more business. Over all I'm not completely impressed and aside from an occasional visit or two you won't catch me in here on a regular basis. I'll stick to garage sales! read more

I'm very disappointed on how our Red Racks in St Joseph turned out. I used to go here a couple times a week and it was my favorite thrift store to go to. But now, I go a couple times a month. The prices are way way to high. Even having a 50% off sale. It's still higher than I can buy at other places. I really wish this would change back. I love helping veterans and thrifting but I'll have to find another way unless something changes.. read more

This was the second time I went and found it dirty. The bathroom had no toilet paper. Trash all over. The floors were dirty and grimy ,hadn't been mopped in awhile.the soap dispenser was full of water , no soap and no paper towels because I guess they were using as toilet paper. Last time I told someone about the restroom and they were rude about it.. for the price they charge for their merchandise you'd think they could afford a qualified supervisor.I took a video but I can't find a way to attach. read more

I don't usually leave negative reviews for pricing alone as prices vary by region but this place is crazy expensive. $3.99 for Dollar Store trinkets,$5.99 for a faded saucer, $11.99 for a definitely not new Crafts and Barrow sweater. That's Kohl's folks, not Dillard's. But it's St. Joe's and it may be the biggest "department" store in town. I recommend you pass it by. read more

I came here several months ago, around April of 2021, for an interview as a misc. cloth pricer. It was by far the worst and most poorly put together "interview" if you can even call it that, I have ever been to in my life. I was set to be seen by either Kelly or Heather, yes I am dropping names, fuck you. it took them 20 minutes past the time THEY set to see me, the woman I spoke to was incredibly disrespectful during the entire thing and acted like I was wasting her time. Not to mention, continuously interrupting the interview to speak with other workers who would come in just to talk badly about their customers and laugh. She was eating during our talk and was surprised when I would forget her question after cutting me off to talk with co workers again. Our whole Interview lasted maybe 10 minutes of just her and I communicating. I was there for well over an hour all together. If I could give less than one star I would. Not only are the extremely over priced, but their staff is shit. seriously, go to literally any other thrift store. read more

This store used to be an awesome place to shop but has gone down hill tremendously. From the organization of the store to the head banging incredibly loud music they play even though, the state of this store has and will save me money. The music is the last straw, I'm done with Red Racks St Joseph MO. When we asked to turn the music volume down, all the employees here said we can't, corporate controls the music selection and volume. I call B.S. I've been shopping here since they opened the doors and this is the worst it's ever been. I'm done I refuse to return until something is done about the cleanliness, ambiance and overall attitude of this store read more

Management & staff were extremely rude & wouldn't share their wifi after my huge donation. That made me leave immediately & never come back.

This place was nicely organized, but Holy Cow were the prices unbelievably high!!! I have no problem helping veterans, but a person could seriously get comparable prices for new items elsewhere. I personally think this is going to hurt the business. If it doesn't, it should........really ridiculous & greedy to price a ratty looking shirt at $15. read more

Nice store that keeps shelves stocked. Will often find clothes at a good price, especially on Sundays when a designated color is 25 cents per item or 5 for $1. Some items deemed collectible are overpriced, but are marked down if they do not sell. Store is fairly clean and staff can be helpful. read more

The gender ratio for the clothing selection is horrendously imbalanced. I'm talking 20 racks of women's clothing and 4 racks of kids clothes and maybe 6 racks of men's clothing. Not surprising with the all female employee staff that they seem to have. And I know that they have enough clothing donations to balance it out read more

This thrift store is one of my favorite thrift stores in the St. Joseph area! I love coming here and enjoy several hours spent browsing the many aisles. I always find something I love here and never leave the store empty-handed. The store has a nice lay out and is set up in a way that is easy to understand. Some days they have discounts on certain tagged items and that means that you are in for even more savings! There is a wide variety of merchandise including shoes, purses, clothing, and home goods. Their items are constantly changing so that each time I come in, I find something new. This thrift store is very reasonably priced with clothing being around $2 to $3 and with the extra sales you are sure to get an even better deal. Once, when I was shopping here, I found some really cute leather booties for only $16! That may seem like an expensive price for a thrift store, but I checked the original tag that I found on them later and the actual retail price was $80!! What a steal!! I have gotten everything from shoes, clothes, purses, even things for simple projects that I am working on like unique picture frames and vases all for a really great deal. If you are around the area and you have some time on your hands, then this is certainly a place to check out. read more

I like the store but am disappointed in the prices. Since everything is donated, I would think they could come down on the prices. I would buy so much more that way. A couple weeks ago, I found a men's Wrangler button down shirt that I wanted to get my husband but it was $8. I have seen brand new ones at Walmart from $10 - $12. This store occasionally has 50% off sales. When this happens, the prices are great but the place gets so packed that it's hard to browse. Maybe it would help if the sales came around more often? read more
