This is an upmarket place and it was busy with folk having Sunday lunch so we sat in the bar area, but they were willing to accommodate us if more were eating. Therefore I cannot comment on the restaurant areas of this pub. As this pub is now owned by the seafood group, there is a lot of seafood on the menu or the specials board which I would like to go back and try. I chose the Sunday Roast as it was cheaper than most things on the menu at £13.50 and a pint of diet coke would set you back £2.50. The Sunday roast isn't on the menu but on the blackboard. This is seriously the best Sunday roast that I have had in a long time. None of it was overcooked, dry, shrivelled. It was delicious and the beef was tender and tasty. The dessert didn't disappoint either, I had the knickerbocker glory. Whilst we were eating the main, they rubbed off the Sunday Roast off the blackboard. Glad we got there in time! This is a walker and dog friendly pub and there seemed to be a good vibe.

I wanted to put a review of their food y'all though since it's a pretty big part. The food hall has a lot of local products- cheese, meats, sweets and other delicacies. You won't find what they sell in other stores, but it's pretty pricey. The food hall also has a cafe and tapas/wine bar. The cafe has a lot of bake goods. The bake goods aren't very good to be honest. I bought the key lime cheesecake, passion fruit tart and hummingbird cake. The key lime cheesecake did not taste like key lime at all, bland and need more sugar. For the price, it's definitely not worth it. The passion fruit tart had ok flavour but the tart was extremely hard and did not compliment the custard. The hummingbird cake was dry and the buttercream was way too sweet. The price for each of these bakes is over price compared to the quality and flavour. The service is pretty slow. It wasn't busy (was in the hall at 4pm) but I had to wait for at least 15 minutes to get any attention from 5 of the staff working there. When I tried to ask one of the staff to get my order (cause she seemed free) she said to ask the other staff serving another customer. Terrible! The food hall looks nice and at first glance very gourmet, but it severely falls short.

It could be my Lancashire roots calling out for a Cotton Mill, but I think this place is stunning…read more It's a real ale bar of epic scale with its own enormous brewery dominating the main hall, but the highlight for most people is the original mill building and machinery. These are not decorations or an applied theme but the real workings of this cotton mill. Parts reminded me of a trip to Manchesters Museum of Science and Industry, with splendid iron wheels, pistons and cables. Contrasted with modern furniture and funky light fittings this is a real treat. Onto the drinks. .. the bar is also very long and there's currently a big menu of draft beers and ciders. With 5 different ciders on draft I thought I couldhave been at a beer and cider festival. I'm looking forward to the full food menu which is apparently coming soon, when I'll be back again to update my review!

We ordered at 5.45 - the bangers and mash tasted elegant - 3 large butchers sausages on top of a pile of mash and lashings of onion gravy. The steak pudding was generously filled and rich. The proper chips were also very good. My only complaint...it's a tad pricey, could do with knocking a couple of quid off the price of the main meals.

We walked over from Clitheroe, to the lovely village of Waddington. It's a particularly scenic spot, with an idylic brook running through the centre. It's the stuff postcards are made of. Sitting outside one pub for a quick drink we head around the corner and find the Lower Buck Inn. It sits just under the local church, which reminds me of Devon, and the village where I grew up - Abbotskerswell. I absolutely love pubs where dogs are welcome, and you really can't make them more welcome than having a beer barrel with water just outside the door - see picture. Way to go with putting a smile on your face before you've even got to the bar. Inside there's 4 rooms each with a traditional olde world feel. Clearly it's been refurbed in recent years, but this feels like it the character was enhanced, rather than removed, as is typical these days! It feels classy, but still casual. At least a couple of the rooms have open fires, which take the edge off the outside chill. There's a modest sized food menu and specials board. It's quality orientated, rather than burgers. But the price remains acceptable. (Especially for a Manchester city dweller at any rate). Plenty of dishes around the £10-£12 mark. The roast dinners were of a great quality, and also of LARGE plate filling size. The pie I had was very tasty - even the mash! More gravy was happily provided to the table on request. I wish I could remember the local brewery that was present, but suffice to say the selection of ales was good, and tasty. Definitely worth a visit for a quiet weekend escape & chill.

One of my faves! I dined on lamb, while my husband enjoyed steak and ale pie and my mother in law had halibut Florentine. Add to that the sides of chunky chips, potatoes dauphinois, and carrots and cabbage and we left stuffed! Swan with two Necks is a very traditional pub in a quaint village and it doesn't get any better if you ask me. I will always, yes always, choose pub food when given the choice. Worth mentioning as well is the carefully curated beer selection. You won't find a better variety anywhere else in the area. Service was tip top and as always folks seem happy to work here and therefore make us happy to return! Only one complaint, a truly disparaging comment about Americans made by the owner in our presence unknowingly ...meanwhile we had just spent over $100. Hard to overlook that when considering our next dinner out in the area, as we are over several times each year.
